I wonder if they will all go to "Smart meters" in the future?Clearly no system is perfect!
I guess it would cost to much to replace them all now.
And just fit them as standard to new builds.

Worked a treat. Now looking for the 105!Gumtree any good?
It's that all soaking drizzle here, rather than hammering down.My thoughts exactly. It is hammering down here.
What make of tyre was that and why no suitable alternative brandMy Skoda Fabia had a cut in the tyre sidewall so it needed replacing.
It took 2 weeks to get a new one!

I bought my car from a leasing company in 2014 (it had 8 miles on the clock!) and they only charged an extra £100 for the spare. My Son was driving in Cornwall last week and had a puncture (no spare). He was told it would take a month to get a replacement tyre for this Mercedes. Fortunately, it his not his car and was rented so rental company provided an immediate replacement car but not big enough for their group but provided another Mercedes a few days later. I was with my daughter and granddaughter when she had a puncture and no spare. It lost us the entire day of the holiday and probably stressed the Grandparents more than our granddaughter. My daughter has since changed her car and now has a spare wheel. When I bought my current car in 2014, I insisted on a spare wheel. Yes, it costs £500!!!! However, not had reason to use it yet and hope that remains so.

Hi Box Brownie, sorry for the late reply, I’m visiting relatives at the moment. What make of tyre was that and why no suitable alternative brand![]()
No problemHi Box Brownie, sorry for the late reply, I’m visiting relatives at the moment.
Original tyre were Pirelli, now I have Good Year. I was told by my garage, who I’ve used for 20+ years that the size was ‘unusual’, they are 215/45 R16 86h.
And they were difficult to locate at the time?

Ah! so in the house by agreement with the engineers that came to install it in the street? And as you say because in the house 'easy peasy' to read itbut still remote readable by the "reader" when they walk/drive the street?
At this time none too clear when they will come, so hard to say if I will have the opportunity to discuss the location ???
Best to have in the house but my MILs was at the end of her drive, I used to use a torch and take pic with my mobile, watch out for the spiders though
Thanks, yes seems the best idea on the house.....as mentioned I think the kerbside tap is something like 2'6" down the hole
In regard the what they do.......AFAIK as the meter takes up a bit of space they enlarge the hole (some neighbours have a meter (not smart?) already and those kerbside plates are notably larger than ours plus our tap location is in close proximity to the BT access chamber! That makes me wonder if that will compromise their intention to put the meter there???
Oh, the team that spray the house numbers in advance have made a mistake.....they have marked a main "stop valve" (there is a nearby identifier post stating so!). But our residential tap kerbside cover was obscured by our hedge..... cleared it today so much more visibly identifiable. I am unsure whether I should report their not properly marking our residential supply and alert them to the fact that the wrong kerbside plate has been marked as "ours"??? Don't the marking team have a pipes map let alone that the SV ID post is there to see!
I do live there, well Bexleyheath actually, and I think that ULEZ is great. I can't understand why people are moaning about having clean air. What didn't annoy me today, well yesterday really, was that I managed to take my new (to me) Skoda and travel to Bexley in Kent, drive around for two days and get all the way back to Cornwall on 40 litres of fuel -- just under 600 miles. Cost me sixty quid for the round trip and the car did an average of 74 mpg at national speed limits -- I was utterly amazed at it's frugality. Fortunately, for now, it is ULEZ compliant but ULEZ really does annoy me, and I don't even live there!
^ Curious to which Skoda it is? I have the Scala 1.0L 110Hp and on a log run I can get 65 but only 50-52 commuting.

Back on the subject - it makes me want to look at Skoda, I get an average of 48 in my 1.0L Fiesta Ecoboost.

It annoyed me not just today but regularly - that on my phone if I type Tamron to name a couple of my lenses, it corrects it to Tampon.
So it seems I have a Tampon 35-150 for my D850 and a Tampon 10-24 for my Pentax K3iiiM. Bluddy hell!
I suppose the wrappers in some aspects represent a greater risk of pollution if plastic than the tub they are in......as long as they are 100% paper and not a laminated product.Don't know if this belongs here not sure if it annoyed me or amused me you judge.
Just been to Morrisons in the entrance they have a large display of sweets. Among them was two different packs of Quality Street, both packs have a large note saying "paper wrappers" printed on the front of the packs. Ok great then I looked again and realised the outer pack was plastic!!!! Is it me?
If you want to sell them, I know a couple on here that could use themIt annoyed me not just today but regularly - that on my phone if I type Tamron to name a couple of my lenses, it corrects it to Tampon.
