WAMT....what annoyed me today!

The early morning BBC News is probably THE most annoying programme on the telly!

I should imagine that the Jeremy Vine show runs it a close second!

The gopher fister!!!

Arriving in t'Yorkshire Dales for a spot of Landscape Photography , a day early and go for a walk to Gorsdale Scar with my nice little Pentax with it's what was then 'state of the art' SAFOX II AF system and nifty 50 lens, and walk into an unexpected gem that is called Janet's Foss....

then I see a Dipper...then I see more...

had I done my homework I would've been taking my D500/D850 and 200-500 combo with me instead of leaving it behind at home 200 miles away. A Pentax Z-1p with 12 year old slide film (Elitechrome 100) and an FA 50/1,4 was all I had - the K-1 and D-FA*70-200 was left behind in the car as I wanted to travel light (and use up the film)....

Most disappointed I was.

Watching TV earlier, I smelled hot brakes/clutch and thought little more of it until a few minutes later, the bedroom TV took up smoking! Unplugged and grabbed the fire extinguisher but it stopped smoking as soon as it was unplugged so kept an eye for a minute or 2 before taking it downstairs and outside. Not even enough smoke to set off the alarm that's just outside the bedroom door. Argos, here we come.

Lucky you were awake Nod! That could have been a disaster :(

Lucky I wasn't triple essing when it started smoking! (.have .hampoo .h*t!)

And another thing... (!)

"Universal" fitting items that nearly fit some things but need a bit of faffing to get to fit properly!

When is the world going to stop talking about Philip Scofield and Holly Willoughby? What scares me though is the thought that Holly may be sacked and they'll give the job to AntnDeck. I never watch breakfast TV but the mere thought of any of this is enough.

I received an email yesterday from a local fibre company saying that they would be rolling out services in our village/town very shortly. Great! I'm fed up of my BT service that keeps disconnecting at the exchange, and I refuse to recontract until they commit to a date for FTTP. The email from "Wessex Internet" said they were looking for "community champions" and as I had 25 years in the connectivity business before we moved down here, I thought great, I can help. I emailed back saying I was interested and detailing my experience in ISP provision.

I just had a call from them, "Hi, my name is William at Wessex Internet, how can I help?"

I grumbled to myself.... "You contacted me...., looking for community champions". Oh, really, I'll get our community liaison team to give you a call. What package were you interested in?"

"Well that depends on the cost, and what discount I'll get for being a "Community Champion"

"There is no discount..."

Silence......

What do these people think they're up to? They want me to spend my time helping them sell their service, but I get nothing out of it...... "Call me again when your service is available".....

WAMT?
Me again.
What a t***t!

Replacing a couple of garden floodlights. Working about head height,
on a pair of 2-step, steps, top step.
I stepped back I forgot I was on the top step, of course I fell!

Trying to avoid the path that was directly behind me, in an effort to land on the grass,
I tripped over a large patio pot, ( half barrel) I now have a huge graze down my shin,
I twisted, landed on my back, totally winded.

Sore back, sore arse, and feeling very sorry for myself.
I'm barely managing to move anywhere, at the moment, going upstairs, is like scaling the north face of the Eiger.
By Christ, I'm gonna be stiff and very sore in the morning. :(

It wasn't even worth a 2.1

+1. Bad backs are one of the worst.
Cheers Chris, it seems to be my upper back, / shoulder blades rather than a spine injury.
Lets hope so.
And all that padding on my arse didn't do a great deal either,
I'm sure there will be a massive bruise there in the morning.

Cheers Gav, I think it's going to be awhile, I'm eating painkillers like smarties at the moment
Go easy on them :D

Have you got anything you can heat up to rest against, bean bag or hot water bottle.

Good luck (y)

I've got various embrocations that I'll slap on before going to bed.
That in it's self going to be a challenge though.

I could have made a career out of falling off things, mostly ladders and vehicles with 2 wheels..... I feel your pain. GWS!!

Thanks :)
The other bad one, about 3 years ago, I cracked a couple of ribs, and landed pretty much as I did today.
You know those large, heavy-duty red and white warning cones?
Yep, I tripped over one ... Clumsy b****r.

I've had a few spills on 2 wheels too, Mostly I bounced.

I'm good at falling over, just please I am also good at getting up afterward

You probably don't think so now but you were lucky. All the best for a speedy recovery.

Dave

GWS, Chris.

Thanks Ingrid, it did take me rather a long time to get back up, I didn't bounce that well unfortunately

Thanks Dave. But I would have preferred to "miss" the planter. I'm sure that compounded the problem.
GWS, Chris.
Cheers Nod.

I'm very stiff, very sore and feeling very sorry for myself this morning :(

Hope you get well soon Chris, might be an idea to try either heat pads or maybe voltarol gel.

I slap Tiger balm on everything I can reach (y)

@Cobra Hope you heal soon :)
:agree: Just a thought, would a large bag of frozen peas help? It's still my 'go to' treatment when I get bruised or strain something. I use peas because they seem to fit the shape of the body better than anything else.

Thanks Christopher, I do keep a large bag of ice in the freezer for just this sort of disaster, sadly its not working too well this time.

Having tried both extensively as I stumble towards senility I can report that Tiger Balm is to Voltarol as an air rifle is to a multiple warhead ICBM.
Many years ago, I had a serious bike injury, and tore out several nerves from my shoulder.
Once off the extremely powerful pain killers, this was the only thing that actually controlled the pain.
I do get a re-occurrence of the pain, from time to time, but no where near the severity.
Tiger Balm is still my friend none of the others get close (y)

Why ..?! (Someone forgot to remove a letter with an address on, should be a fairly quick hunt for them ;))

Just started happening again round here too. The local tip charge for certain types of waste (£6 per tyre, for kitchen cabinets etc) and it will only encourage people to fly tip. :(

WAMT was being bitten all over yesterday when working with my shirt off in the garden.
