WAMT....what annoyed me today!

I can understand your concern.

At the least they should have told you what they did and what lead them to decide to close the incident.

Dave

My theory is that the receptionist couldn't put the phone down quick enough and after that they did sweet fa except send the txt. That's my theory.

I'm up and down the road all the time both on foot and in the car and I am worried about round 2 with this young man. When my wife was assaulted and racially abused the police said I had the right to defend myself and her I assume but as we all know one punch can kill and I want to live and will therefore if pushed use force but I don't want a death on my conscience or for this to carry on again and again until someone does die, move away or ends up in prison. After a string of incidents in the last year Mrs WW doesn't feel safe here any more but here is where we have to be for family reasons.

Hopefully no further issues and he moves on with his life. Whatever occurs, should it occur, call the police and if safe wait for them to arrive. If it isn’t safe use 999. It is not worth causing a bigger blimp to your life by reacting.

WAMY was not getting the promised update on when Mrs Nod's bike will be ready. It arrived at the dealer last Thursday - how long does a PDI take?! The owner of the dealership is a great bloke and has gone into the workshop, hiring salesmen to take care of that (relatively new) side of the business but they seem to be better at promises than fulfilment!

WAMY (Yesterday). The guy who was going to come round and price up doing a garage conversion, that never showed up, and won't answer his phone. Good news is I probably dodged a bullet there.....

Had tooth out. Anaesthetic just wearing off. :(

I find it's difficult to find good tradesmen these days. We've had let down after let down after shoddy work.

Gardening, I don't think it's for me.

That digging thing, what's that about? ;)

We're not running on all cylinders, so not very confident. Last wembley we lost to Hull, they had 1 kick and it was a 30 yd worldie.
We've booked the hotel though.
Just seen the score, thought your lot would get a draw at least.

It's Nature's foreplay, with back pain being the main event!

I can't get out to cut the lawns. They've been cut once this year and the grass is very long and it's wet and it'll cut up and look like the Somme if I try. Most days we've had some rain and on the days when we haven't had any (actually I think was might have had some every day) the lawns just aren't drying out. It's not raining at the mo but it's overcast and the lawns aren't going to dry today. Mrs WW is the weather watcher and she says we'll have a few days of sun next week so I suppose it'll have to wait.

PS.
I had a look at some electric movers in B&Q yesterday and was amazed to see such short run times, up to 10 minutes? My Gosh. There's no way I can cut the lawns in 10 minutes. Even the bigger and more expensive ones were quoting 20 minutes or so if they quoted anything at all and these are up to times. Unless there's a massive step forward in batteries I can't see one of these ever being strong enough.

Toolstation have one listed that claims 150m^2 on a charge. B&Q wouldn't be on my list of places to look for a mower.

The ones with the longer times quoted at B&Q tended to get bigger to the point that I can't see them being practical for me. Not only do I have to handle them in and out of storage I have to manoeuvre them in the green space available. At the moment and unless there's something of an acceptable size along with an acceptable run time somewhere these things are not going to be making onto my list of possibilities. If looking at cordless a petrol one could maybe be worth looking at.

They were atrocious. 1st goal, keeper error. 2nd massive deflection. Then fell apart.

How about a mains one? With an RCD at the plug end, they're as safe as a cordless and safer than a petrol one. Been here 30+ years and on our 2nd Flymo which is still going strong.

Our garden is not large, but with a petrol mower it takes around 45min to cut front and back. I bought a petrol brush cutter to take to the house in France because there's 650sqM to manage there and it will only get cut twice per year.

FWIW the present petrol mower is about 10 years old, hundred quid from Tesco at the time.

Are you sure you weren't looking at the minimum height of cut?

Ours is a decades old hover. One problem is that it isn't and never has been good at picking up cuttings but I like to use a lawn rake anyway.

We always have had a mains one and I've never managed to cut the cable. I just had a look at the battery ones in passing as things are always easier without the cable. I'm coming up to 62 now but reasonably fit and exercise every day, cutting the lawns, strimming the bits the mower can't get to and clearing the block paving of weeds and moss front, back and down the drive from start to finish and everything put away takes about three hours.

Hard to see overturning a four goal deficit, said it myself too many times, but there is always next season.

Nine years ago to the day my lot beat Peterborough in the Div 1 play off semi and lost the final.
Since then we have been down to the National league and now back to Div 1 for next season.

My Dad has a ryobi cordless mower, if the grass is over about 3” it doesn’t have sufficient torque to get the blade turning, and I turn to the much older old corded flymo I got from a charity shop for £15…

That was a worry I had. I think I'll give up on that idea. It was just a thought as we were in B&Q looking at plants and had to walk past them. In reality I think a petrol one could work better than a battery one if I really wanted to go cordless and TBH that's not essential. A cordless vacuum is higher up the list :D

Be aware of the effects of keeping E10 petrol for a long time (over a couple of months), especially in metal cans. Be aware of it's effect on rubber parts (seals etc as well as pipes) too. If you do go down the petrol route, I'd only use Super Unleaded which tends to be labelled as E5 but often contains no ethanol. (Mrs Nod's MX-5 doesn't like E10 at all - she put a tenner in when she discovered that our normal Sainsbury's didn't have Super [allegedly a cracked tank - been "unavailable" for several months] and noticed the difference even with her light-footedness and in town. Topping up with Super at a different fuel station improved things and the next tankful was pure Super.)

Great, except it was not delivered. Wife has been on local FB and few people are reporting similar stories asking who has had their parcel

We had similar with an air fryer. £225 so had to have signature. Usual time countdown then, bosh, delivered. Except it wasn't. Wife starting on phone Queuing on Amazon services.
A neighbour came up the road carrying it. It was just left on their doorstep.

That's a coincidence re lawn mowers. Ours died today. A Mountfield petrol mower and the metal has cracked and seperated on one side so the grass box won't stay on and it's difficult to steer. I had to complete the back lawn ,the front and the verge and had the cuttings blasting out.

My wife thinks we should have a cordless electric mower so I'm researching those. Re starting it, she's worried about my shoulder after my fall recently and rotator cuff damage history. From what I've read so far, which isn't a lot, it's important to make sure it come with a battery and charger or that could be a costly mistake. Seems 20 minutes for the battery is the max. It takes 30 minutes to do the back lawn.

She found this one (for a large lawn) but I'd say our back lawn was 'medium'. Large is featured in the 'joke' post above.

I came across this one for 2023 best buys. Einhell 18V...(first one featured..red )I'll still research it though, via customer reviews , and Which ? reviews (I'm a member)
