WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Our local Sainsburys C&C are pretty good about short dated or 'tired' looking fresh foods, you just tell them you are rejecting the item & they take it off your bill. sometimes they even let you keep the 'rejected' item.....

That's all very well but if you need an item it's sod's law that they take it away with them!

Our local "convenience" store doesn't stock much in the way of veg, unfortunately and is 1 1/2 time the price of Sainsbury's. Always a chance that we can get an hour of free charging at Sainsbury's as well!

What annoyed me (on behalf of my daughter-in-law) was the way Cricut operate their aftercare service. For those that don't know, Cricut make 'printers' that cut vinyl, card, paper, fabric etc into complex shapes & she uses hers for her online sewing business.

Her 3 month old printer developed a fault but was still useable. As it was under warranty she called them & they said they would send her a new printer. As the old one was still useable she tried to use it only to discover they had remotely disabled it.

She waited over a week for the replacement to arrive, and was told they didn't want the old one back & to dispose of the faulty one herself. She was astonished & checked online & discovered they don't provide a repair service & obviously don't care about the environment.....

Very true, as the C&C point is in the store car park, if there's something missing or we have rejected an item we park the car and go into the store. I don't mind using the self service tills for 1 or 2 items, or a basket full. As our C&C slot is 8am-9am the store is pretty quiet too, as we are still not big fans of crowds. We no longer wear masks but I still prefer social distancing. Even at that time of day there's usually a queue at the manned tills though.

Waking up at about 4 this morning with indigestion. It was the hiccough that woke me up!

Won’t do it, trying to get us all to self serve and let them cut staff, I was directed to the diy tills yesterday, I declined and told them, “I don’t work here, nor do I get a discount for self service!”

Another supermarket thing that annoys me is that since lockdown there's been a massive increase in on line ordering which means staff trundling around with trolleys loaded with baskets to fill. They do this at breakneck speed and don't seem to give a damn about scattering customers aside and blocking access to shelves or even whole aisles There seem to be an endless number of staff available to do this but of course none to staff the checkouts.

On Saturday, I ordered a couple of clothing items for my wife, using her details. The company has said that the items are ready for collection from a local Tescos. They require photo ID to collect, which is reasonable. The trouble is that my wife wants me to take her passport along tomorrow to collect it.
I remember trying this before at a Royal Mail station and they refused to let me have the letter addressed to her unsurprisingly.
She doesn't want to wait until Saturday, when we will pass it on the way to do our weekly shop.

I am trying to work out what annoyed you today.........................the supplier and the collection point are operating correctly (as you acknowledge) to mitigate against a possible fraud as well as your wife & yourself!

So unless the supplier, courier & collection point have a 'nominated collector' system in place then it is her that will need to show up to collect, so why are you annoyed

Just say that you identify as your wife... :D

Because she was insisting that I have to go and collect it.

Facebook marketplace
Seems to be full of people whose only purpose is to message ‘is this still available’

Well yesterday now.
Lamb stew, veg and dumplings in the slow cooker, for tea.
I covered it and walked away.

2 hours later I went to check on it...
And I'd forgotten to switch it on at the wall socket.

Guess who's tea was late..
Bloody donut :headbang:

I have done that before, usually results in the "emergency" curry tactics being deployed.

I made myself a sarnie, and waited it out.

Cottage pie tonight I wonder what could go wrong with that :D

I filled up my car today at Tecos, I stopped the pump at £41.99 when I replaced the nozzle it jumped to £42.02. I told the Kiosk attemdant but got a blank response and oh we'll keep an eye on that. I looked all over the Tesco website to see who I could contact about this but there are no details for the fuel stations.

Weights and measures (what ever they are called these days) ?
I have a local garage, that always does that, but it's only ever 1p when the nozzle goes back in the pump

Snap!
The beef mince is dated tomorrow, so I have to get some Maris Piper from the Co-op, then jobs a goodun. Going make a leaky, mustard, cheesy mash and a spicy meat element.

Last week they came and repaired the rather large potholes just outside my house, that's not what annoyed me but as seems usual these days while doing the repairs they must of damaged the water mains as we have had a small stream running down the road for about a week now and it's not even that that's annoyed me, no what's annoyed me is I've woken up with a stinking sore head this morning and guess what's just turned up, so not much chance of a quiet day.

Just tried a hitherto unkown variety of spud - Lily - the inside is as yellow as I have ever seen. Just tried a bit of the mustard mash topping and it is lovely. Just have to stay out of the kitchen until it is assembly time.

I've never heard of it, yellow potato's don't seem right somehow.
But that is coming from someone, who until recently had never eaten a sweet potato.

If yellow don't seem right I would stay clear of the red, black and blue ones.

I think I should! A blue topping to shepherds pie is just to much to contemplate..

Could go nicely with the coloured carrots ;)
I really don't understand the need to artificially colour food.
It seems that most veggies can be had in a range of colours these days

I'm not sure on other veg but potatoes and carrots were other colours till we bred them to suit our tastes and colour.

I'd not thought about it before, but it seems as far back as the 10th century carrots were either purple or white

I belive carrots were white, pale yellow or purple before someone decided orange would look better

Purple brussels are nice

Zombies.

There was a queue in Greggs. Once I'd got our order me and Mrs WW headed for the door which was blocked by a zombie. It clearly saw us approaching but no longer had the brain power to realise "Oh, I'm stood in the doorway. I best move out of the way so people can get out." So, "Excuse me. Can we just get past you?" No response but it was still clearly looking at me, so a bit more authoritatively "Excuse me. We need to get past you to get out as you're blocking the door. Can you move please." Grudgingly its body sort of undulated as if performing some strange dance move but I doubt its feet moved an inch. I had to fight the urge to pick it up and move it out of the way and instead I settled for shoulder shove.

Mrs WW... "Teenagers."
