WAMT....what annoyed me today!

I always send back spam mail if they include prepaid envelopes, they don’t pay the postage until they are used so eventually it might dissuade them from posting out crap, to me at least.

I stuff the envelopes so they're large letters or small parcels (over 5mm thick). On the ones marked "To the Occupier", I write "Return to sender - not known at this address."

Every day and maybe more often than once a day I get an email from Tesla and I don't seem to be able to block them. Grrrrr.

Most provider have tools that allow you to block the sender and or the domain.

Often an unsubscribe button within the email.

Just because it’s a 50 mph zone because of roadworks doesn’t mean you should be driving in the middle lane. ;)

And no, I can assure you it wasn’t me.
What difference would it make because I was overtaking lorries as we went into the 50 mph zone and it also stated stay in lane. The only reason why I gradually pulled ahead of the lorries was because I am using the speedo on my SatNav; most car speedos are inaccurate. Further on, I saw that most vehicles did stay in lane including the outer lane.

Traffic!

I'm lucky enough to avoid rush hour(s) almost every day but the only appointment I could get for my annual (now biennial) contact lens check was at 16:30 so by the time I had been dealt with, it was 17:00. SO glad I don't have to do it every day!

Fireworks! Such a waste, such an annoyance and again, probably not made here any more!

WAMT A massive cellulitis flare-up. Overnight, it’s gone from slightly painful to a 102 degree temperature and massive swelling up to and including my knee to the point where I can’t now bend my knee, oh, and the cherry on the cake is the yellow puss filled blisters all over it which occasionally leak everywhere. Yes I am on antibiotics and extremely peed off :grumpy:

That does not sound pleasant in the slightest, Nick!
I hope it abates quickly.

Hope the antibiotics get on top of it soon, Nick.

Went out for a walk earlier, love the rain.
Walking along one footpath there was a huge deep puddle covering it, wearing my comfortable waterproof leather country boots
I couldn't resist walking through it
Coming the other way were some hikers (?) all togged out with rucksacks etc. wearing canvas walking boots !!!
They proceeded to try and balance on the edge of the puddle in the mud, commenting that they should have worn wellies.
I can't walk or in fact wear wellies for any length of time, if I had to wear something it would be gaiters.

In my experience it's the folk in wellies who teeter around the puddles...............
Okay, sometimes you don't know how deep they are. Once I walked through a puddle on a path I know well only to go nearly knee deep in a hole and come out covered in red mud (it wasn't a Dawn French moment - I only went in with one foot ) . Fortunately I was wearing knee length gaiters and there's a boot wash aka a stream a bit further down.

Okay, sometimes you don't know how deep they are.

Wellies aren't exacty the best for walking in anyway.
Bearing in mind that I was already walking though it and it wasn't much over ankle deep in the middle, far shallower at gthe edges, even my waterproof walking boots would have coped ok

British Gas "help" chat service. Waited around 1/2 an hour to be told that my "smart" meter has a "comb" problem and would need an appointment booking and a visit to fix ( I was told that a year ago! Although then it was a "comms" problem! Maybe the engineer needs to sort his/her hair out! These early "smart" (not so) meters have been problematic from early on after fitting it seems (according to the net!). The spelling on the "chat" was appalling and difficult to understand. No doubt a "distant" call/communication centre!

Update. Been in hospital 2 days now…Lots to annoy me in here

I was doing 30mph today on a main road on the edge of the town centre when a Merc saloon came out of a side road on my left and turned right in front of me, never even slowed, must have been doing at least 30mph as the car just shot out. So, it was a full on emergency stop and thankfully we missed each other. I had my mam and my wife in the car and I was just... shaking. I've never come so close to having a major accident in a long time but I suppose with a modern car and airbags galore we would probably have been ok but my mam is 93 so nothing was certain with a closing speed of potentially 60mph.

One thing I thought of was that I wouldn't have been surprised if the other car had been a 10 year old hot hatch driven by a teenager but this was an expensive recent model merc that someone (assuming it wasn't stolen) paid a lot of money for. Why do people dive in such a mad way? No answer to that one I suppose.

Just out of interest. The nearest I've come to a major accident was one winter when I was about 20. I was in a Mini probably doing about 60mph when an artic coming the other way swung out into my lane to turn left, I stamped on the brakes and the car slid all over and as I tried to correct the slide I squeezed passed the lorry and took the snow of the rails that stop you going under the trailer, so that was a close one. Today was just awful.

Oh no that must have been frightening :( At least you managed to avoid him
I had a fright last night , I was walking up to a pedestrian crossing stopped a car came and stopped so I started walking across with my wife and he then floored it and shot across right in front of us was scary it must have been deliberate, I just don’t understand the way some people think

Because mindless people "look but don't see". There is an assumption that, as it's usually quiet and not very much traffic, that it's safe to go, so when they look, they're not actually recording what's happening.

This is why I always drive with my dipped beam on. They can't argue that they didn't see me, I have a bright red roof and LED headlamps - If they can't see me they shouldn't be driving!

Some youngsters now get expensive cars on lease schemes, they can afford it living at home with parents.

When I was young I had an old beat up mini (Austin not BMW) I learned how to maintain it by rebuilding the engine and doing the brakes etc. Something that most new cars make it impossible to do these days.

Could be. Conditions and lighting were good and it should be hard to miss a RR Evoque. It happened so fast but thinking about it I did see him approaching the junction at speed and I might have already jumped on the break before he shot out. It was a very close thing.

Yup. I have seen this.

My first car was a used Mini 1000 and my first new car was also a mini 1000. I used to do all sorts to those cars but these days all I do is pump the tyres and top up the oil and water. I think you just about have to take the front off to change a light bulb with some new cars.

I'm over it now but that incident was one of a string of incidents which have really shaken my wife up and sadly she's getting to the point that she doesn't want to go out now. All made worse I expect by a stone throwing racial abuse incident I posted about. My view is normally to try and get over things and not let the baddies make your world smaller but she's struggling with it all.

Even fire engines on blues and twos get pulled out on.

People who seem unable or think there is no need to respond to someone else who has helped them, even just by a bit.

About an hour ago I was driving on a single track road with passing places and there were a couple of cars coming towards me.

I was closer to a passing place behind me than they were to a passing place behind them, so I backed up to let them through.

As they passed it was if I was not there - no nod, no wave!

I don't want them to stop and prostrate themselved before me but an acknowledgement would have been nice/friendly/appropriate.

Dave

I think I should say the vast majority people in similar situations are very friendly

We have narrow streets locally and 90% of the time pulling in and letting somebody pass is acknowledged, usually with a wave, sometimes with a nod & a smile. It infuriates me when the other 10% just drive through. It's just common courtesy, like saying thank you if someone holds a door open for you....

Yes, in the main most are courteous but like you guys I have experienced a significant minority that treat giving way to them like "right". The ones that acknowledge me with their headlights in daylight/dusk do annoy me......!

Having ranted about that, I have experienced where multiple cars come through and all the drivers give a wave of thanks :)

In the summer I have been known to shout "thank you" through their open windows ...

BSM.

Mrs WW booked a course of driving lessons and paid in advance.

They contacted her a couple of days before the first lesson and postponed for a number of weeks, it might have been a month. She was sat ready with her coat and shoes on for her first lesson when they cancelled and rescheduled again, and to repeat she was sat ready with coat and shoes on. She had her first lesson and it went ok and her second was due to be today and again she was sat with her coat and shoes on when they cancelled. So that's three cancellations / reschedules now and two with just minutes to go before the lesson was due to start. What a shambles this company is.

My advice is to give up with this awful company and try someone more local but she's stubborn and wont listen so I've suggested that she at least set some limit as to how many times she's going to let them do this before she asks for her money back.

I can see how upset she is yet she just wants to carry on with them. After recent set backs (stone throwing assault and racial abuse and general hassle when out) I can see each disappointment affecting her and I can see her withdrawing... she keeps saying she's too frightened to go out and with each let down from this awful company I feel for her.

Oh well. Hopefully they'll turn a corner and start turning up.

Sorry to hear that :(

Why don't you teach her? ;):exit:

She has a Thai driving licence and she should be able to drive ok once she gets the hang of roundabouts as they don't have many over there but I think she does need some professional lessons as they'll teach her what she needs to do to pass the test.

And as a PS to the above...

She had an instant chat with BSM and their representative logged off half way through and never returned. That just about seem to sum them up. They seem to have little interest in customer service. What a poor service that company has given her.

once she gets the hang of roundabouts
Two things,
1) someone I know has his own driving school, and he hears this a lot about them.
2) come down here, she'll soon get the hang of roundabouts :D
( joking of course you are a 100 or so miles away)

She deffo needs some proper lessons. It's just a shame that her first experience has gone so poorly.
