WAMT....what annoyed me today!

DPD. Requested that they leave the package in the garage.

View attachment 475161

Appears someone doesn't know the difference between in and outside. Fortunately, it hasn't rained yet
Are they allowed to open the garage though? Genuine question. It’d be entering private property… is that legal? Plus it would add time to their delivery round.

My good lady visited hospital for an emergency investigation on Friday 13th ( Oh No!) and was told that she had a kidney lump of 10 cms. She was then told that she would receive notifications and follow ups within a few days. We are still waiting! All was smooth on the day (various scans, examinations and blood tests) but we just want to know what is what!!!

That's very difficult being left. Could she contact her GP or look on the NHS app for more information.

i buy a lot from eBay as I'm house-bound and unable to go to the village

I ONLY use Royal Mail now as ALL the couriers used by sellers are total RUBBISH with parcels delivered to wrong address, left at gate, left at door in the rain, or lies about ''attempted delivery''

my RM postie opens the front door and leaves mail on the hall table .... 101%

This didn't actually annoy me in the strict sense of the word, more like I was initially unpleasantly shocked. I respect Brian Cox, I think he's a great science educator and over the
years I've learned a lot from him regarding science in general and my hobby of astronomy in particular.

My brother is full of conspiracy theories to the extent that we avoid discussing them as it degenerates into a shouting match but recently we "discussed" his views that aliens
live with us and have guided all of mans scientific advances and built our ancient structures like the Great Pyramids of ancient Egypt. I like to watch YouTube shorts while eating breakfast and this morning came across this one by Brian Cox which shocked me to the core as it seemed to correlate with my brothers views and didn't seem to be something I would expect Cox to say. I decided to do a bit more research and discovered it was entirely fake which shocked me even more.

Is there really anything in the media that we can trust anymore?

Perhaps the cure for deep fakes is to tell the people who make, promote or carry them that they'll be paid in fake money in future?

It does raise a good point and one which perhaps the legacy media could really capitalise on a gain some serious trust kudos over social media sites.

For example, I suspect if say the BBC directly hosted a video of Brian Cox then I would argue that it could be assumed to be genuine and I reckon most people would trust that it isn't AI. Social media sites would find it a lot more difficult to achieve such status because users can upload content, so less likely to go through any form of robust verification processes and less likely to suffer consequences if false.

AI could be providing a window of opportunity for the legacy media.

It's a reason why we should be aware of what people are likely to do, and to view the suggested action in the light of what else can be known about them. There is the danger that our prejudices and affections will colour our interpretation of data, but it's better than accepting stuff at face value.

A workman was due at church at 13:00. I turned up early and gave up at 13:55 when he still hadn't arrived. I called him and asked if he was still coming and he said that he'd called "The Bloke" and told him he couldn't make it. Well, that "Bloke" would be me and No, he didn't call me but what can you say to a tradesman? Brown him off and he'll just not come at all and they're so hard to find we'd be starting from scratch again with one crossed off the list.

So he's now due Tuesday at 14:00.

Oh, and another thing. My car seemed to be invisible today. That's the only explanation for the number of numb'eds who pulled out on me forcing me to brake.

I'm getting rather peed off with flickr. Suggesting threads that might interest me that haven't had any posts in years and now constant nagging about a secret new whatever that is being held back from anybody who doesn't click the link that appears every ten minutes after being dismissed.

Out of interest, I've just logged into my Flickr account and don't see any messages like that nor have I ever had any... well, maybe one or two suggesting I put certain photos into a 'Group". A lady at Bempton cliffs ,on my last visit, end of last year, asked me if I would send her a couple of my Flickr puffin photos. She and her husband were on holiday from Australia. As I love to chat to people from other lands and help them in anyway I can, I sent her two by Email. Next thing I saw were a few of my Gannet/Puffin photos had been placed in that category 'group'. I'm not too good with computer/website technology and wondered how someone else can do that.

Are you on Flickr Pro...ie you have over 1000 photos ? If so, maybe I'll start getting them when I cross the 1000 free threashold .

Yes.

The weather or rather the light is annoying me today. We're going to walk to the shops and it's a nice tree and bush lined walk which makes me feel as if we could be miles from anywhere so I usually take a camera and take a few pictures as we walk. The light today is just awful, there's complete cloud coverage and no sky and everything just looks flat and dead so there's no point taking yet more pictures in this awful light. This has gone on for such a long time now with only the odd days relief. When will it end?

Hope others have better weather.

Nikon Repairs. I sent my z9 off to them early Jan, they examined it and provided an estimate which I accepted on the 16th Jan and said go ahead with the repair. Not got it back yet because Nikon are "awaiting parts" - which is frustrating and baffling because it's not a decades old camera, it's their current flagship model so why is getting parts for it so hard?

Where do I start?

On Tuesday I am due to have a procedure at Portsmouth Hospital. Due to a blood condition, I have to take anticoagulants, so before they start cutting into my viens & arteries (I'm havivg a Fistula) I thought I'd better get in touch with the aniticoag team at Salisbury (my local hospital). They called me in this morning for 09.15. I duly arrived at 09.00, wasn't seen until 09.30. After a 15 minute discussion they took some blood and told me to come back in 45 minutes to get the results. From that they can work out what they call a "bridging plan". Well that took 75 minutes, they then write a prescription for the pharmacy at the hospital for me to pick up some injections.

Waiting time at the pharmacy they said 20-30 minutes. After 45 minutes I ask what's taking so long. The pharmacist tells me he doesn't agree with the dosage and is waiting on a doctor getting back to him. Another 20 minutes and my prescription is ready, however as the dosage has changed, I need to go back to the anti-coag team to get a new "plan" to take with me to the hospital next week. Another 20 minutes of waiting, and I finally get sorted.

The queue for the car park ticket machine is about 20 people long

I then find that the parking machine doesn't recognise my reg number....... So I said I'd only just got there and didn't have to pay - One good result from a completely wasted morning.

It's hard to explain, but when you have long term chronic conditions (I have stage 4 kidney disease) you do tend to get wound up over the slightest thing, I tried to remember my martial arts training of years gone by, closing my eyes, breathing sloowly, and try to focus on what's important. But man, it's been a $**t day........

I hope you're feeling a bit calmer Steve. I think the NHS can be a lottery. A couple of friends of ours have recently been diagnosed with cancer and both have had prompt and smooth treatment. One turned up early and hardly got sat down before they were ushered in. It all went very smoothly for both of them.

I hope your next appointment goes smoothly too. Maybe you're due a smooth visit.

That kind of weather is depressing when it persists day after day. It can sometimes go on for a couple of weeks.

Feels like forever.

It's nicer today but we're not going out today.

Take advantage of nice days when they appear rather than making plans that need them and then have to cancel.

Bought a pair of Vans on Amazon. Listed as suede, turned out to be canvas.

Oh..That's grim. I wasn't aware. We're coming to the end of three weeks in Tenerife.
Sunday was the start of spring so maybe an improvement is around the corner, temperature has improved today but the wind still around.

Bad news I'm afraid. It's cancer! It has also spread to lymph nodes. The kidney and lump are to be removed sometime this month and subject to what is found and her recovery, immunotherapy should begin, as soon as she is strong enough, after surgery. It's such a shock! She is the one who has never smoked, drank to excess, and has always been a healthy eater and took regular exercise. We have been through a lot of tough times and we shall fight this with all our strength. Sorry to bring bad news.

I wish her good recovery from surgery, low side effects from the treatment and full remission. Sorry this is the outcome.

Sorry to hear this. Wishing you both the best possible outcome

Hopefully she's caught it early enough. Life certainly doesn't make sense sometimes. Best of luck.

My older brother who I live with was diagnosed with stage 4/advanced Oesophagus cancer in January. Had been complaining about a pain around the back of his torso since late August, but at the time it used to come and go when he was eating. I finally persuaded him to see the GP about it in November. They took a blood test and within a week had him in for an endoscopy. We were told it was Cancer in the 2nd week of December, but that they had to rum more tests to see the extent of it. He had a CT Scan, Pet Scan and sedated endoscopy and ultra sound in the following 2 weeks. Went back to see the consultant on the 22nd December expecting to be pencilled in for surgery, only to be told that the was only a 1 in 4 chance of a cure. So after much discussion he has gone the palliative care route.

Macmillan have been excellent in helping to sort out things with DWP etc., he starts Radiotherapy next week to shrink the cancer a bit, before moving onto Chemo after that.

Sorry Martin ... it doesn't start until the 20th, so you can allow a few colder days in the next few weeks:)
Oh, I was going by the what the weatherman on the telly, should know better than listen to them. :ROFLMAO:

Weekly bin/recycling collections here - still... Tuesday is our scheduled date, black bin for plastic and glass, the collectors are usually early.

Leave the house normal time, black box still there with items. Return home, still there.

Assume one of our more diligent neighbours report a missed collection - and then assume the binmen collect items from every house, but no. They collect from the houses that report it, and even though our box was virtually next to the one collected, it remains full...

Doesn't take a lot of common sense does it, especially when you see full black boxes littering the pavements on our road...

On the few occasions I have done an online report of a missed bin, the lorry & crew sent out next day clear all unemptied bins......no idea why they get missed but full lorries & and tight(er) schedules come to mind ???

Update! The NHS have been marvellous! A results appointment the end of last week and a pre-op appointment now booked for tomorrow (Sunday) followed by surgery on Wednesday! Hopefully, all will go smoothly. Everything crossed and thanks to all for your concern and best wishes thus far. Updates to follow as we have them. Mike

Fingers crossed, Mike.
