WAMT....what annoyed me today!

This place is getting more & more like the bronx :(
As I noted elsewhere violent crimes are very much on the increase in this area, over the last 18 months or so.
People getting stir crazy from the lock downs?

At around 9.40am this morning (26/06) officers were called to Denmead, Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes with information that a serious disturbance was taking place.
Within minute’s officers attended the scene, a forced entry was made into a property, acting on witness information.
On entry, officers observed a man in his thirties, who appeared to be deceased, as well as a young child with serious injuries.
They encountered a man in his twenties, within the property. At this early stage of the investigation, it is understood that officers deployed a taser, before shots were fired at the man.
Immediate first aid was deployed and ambulance crews treated the man in his twenties, but sadly he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Sadly pronounced dead? If he was the attacker, surely killing him on site will have saved a lot of aggravation as well as the costs of lodging and feeding him for the next 20 years or so. No doubt there'll be an enquiry into his death but that will probably be cheaper than his rent and board at her majesty's pleasure (and his majesty's in a few years...)

I agree with criticising them putting “sadly” in front of most things particularly eg ‘300 died, sadly 3 were children’ and so on, so I don’t think they should have used it here either.

But , you can’t assume he was the perpetrator, and if he was, sadly, he will not be available to stand trial.

The bit that concerned me was that they decided to taser him first, and then shot him ..
speculation / maybe he was "high" and the taser had no effect ?

No doubt there'll be an enquiry into his death

the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has since stated that an investigation has been launched into the police shooting.
Thames Valley Police is also conducting enquiries into the incident, and there will be a scene watch for "a number of days".
Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Christian Bunt, said: “Our Major Crime Unit continue to investigate the circumstances of this tragic incident.

But , you can’t assume he was the perpetrator,
I wondered that too, reading the first press release it wasn't clear maybe he had been defending himself against an attack
on him and the child...
Its a bit of a CSI nightmare, and hopefully the truth will out in the near future ..

If he was, what use is a trial? Provides employment for a few highly paid firms and messes up the lives of 12 people who have better things to do than sit in a courtroom.

The first reports were very unclear about how many people were involved and how many were dead. On the taser, we don’t know if the same person fired the taser and the gun. You may know being since you are probably following more closely than most.

2 dead 1 seriously injured child now know to be a boy( age undisclosed) its not known if they are looking for anyone else, but the reports would suggest that's a no.

Cheers. I think the early reports were saying there was a child and a dead man and a man had been shot dead by the police so wasn’t clear if there were one or two dead men :(.

WAMT - is why companies employ people that can only type with two fingers to operate chat systems.

Although I can only type at around half my speaking rate, I still prefer it to dealing with moronic, strongly-accented phone jockeys. I don't think the operator on the other of this chat could manage more than 3wpm. :banghead:

The DVSA. purchase a second hand car, I know it becomes untaxed at point of sale.
two days later, get a letter demanding I either tax or SORN it, now 28 June
Not going to pay £21 for tow days so SORN it
Now I find I have to wait 5 days before I can tax it
You can go to the post office
The post office do not offer the instalment option, rather like WAMT no2

Tesco are demanding a £99 deposit before dispensing fuel
Sainsburys likewise with £100
Some of us don't have that amount in our current accounts

Pretty sure you can still pay for fuel in the kiosk/shop and avoid the credit check.

Tesco are demanding a £99 deposit before dispensing fuel
I've heard that a few times today.
I've also heard it's a mis-understanding, and that they just lock the funds* prior to dispensing fuel up to that value, then they take the amount spent and release the lock.

*So the account cannot spend that £99 until the fuel transaction is completed.

I've heard that a few times today.
I've not heard of that at all TBH I always pay at the kiosk.
I guess there must be an increasing amount of "drive off's" to have made them do this

It's not going to stop that, people that drive off don't normally use bank cards which give all their
details

According to Karen on face book ( who also seems to work at Tesco)
Its the CC companies doing this not the supermarkets.
Apparently it used to be £1 holding charge, and lots were filling up, without the amount of credit left on their cards to pay afterwards.

And her sister also called Karen objected because she would now have to pay at kiosk but can't leave her autistic son in the car while she does so.

Yep, so it now connects to you bank and will only allow you to put in the amount you have in your account
It's all a bot complicated but they say it only freezes the £100 and takes what you use when you've finished filling up,
yeah right
think I'll be paying at the kiosk in future

This is in relation ( the inquest) to a serious incident in Two Mile Ash, whereby two men died and a young boy was left with serious injuries.

One of the deceased has been confirmed as 24-year-old Odichukumma Kelvin Igweani - otherwise known as Kelvin Odichukumma Igweani - who was born in Nigeria but lived in Milton Keynes.

This morning (2/7), the court heard that Thames Valley Police were called to a property along Denmead in Two Mile Ash following reports of a domestic disturbance on Saturday (26/6).

David Bannister, from the Independent Office for Police Conduct, explained how armed officers attended the scene at around 9:40am.

He said that upon entering, armed officers discovered a man that was dead upon arrival.

The court heard via video link how police then saw Mr Igweani, who was allegedly trying to harm a young boy. He was tasered but this proved ineffective.

It was reported that Mr Igweani moved to another room with the child. Officers then broke into this room, fired another taser at Mr Igweani before four shots were fired.

The inquest opening heard that Mr Kelvin Igweani's medical cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

Mr Tom Osbourne, a senior coroner from Milton Keynes, has opened an inquest into Mr Igweani's death.

The inquest opening heard that Richard James Woodcock, a 38-year-old highways officer for Milton Keynes Council, was killed at his neighbour's house in Two Mile Ash last Saturday (26/6).

It was reported by the investigating officer for Thames Valley Police that Mr Woodcock, who lived at 75 Denmead, rushed to neighbouring 74 Denmead after screams could be heard.

Two people fled from 74 Denmead but a young boy remained inside, according to police.

It was said that Mr Woodcock gained entry to the property in a bid to rescue the boy but was killed by a "traumatic head injury".

Just a typical day in MK then? :(. Sounds horrendous and not surprising the reports were a bit mixed since it was apparently two incidents in one : the possibly intra-familial violence plus the neighbour :(.

Just a typical day in MK then? :(
As before it was nothing like this 18 months / 2 years ago, hardly any violent crime, now barely a week goes by,
without there being some kind of gang crime / stabbings or worse :(

Some of us don't have that amount in our current accounts

At ASDA it's £1 authorisation and £99 maximum spend.

At ASDA it's £1 authorisation and £99 maximum spend.

That is the current system, but it may change later in the year, supermarkets are trialing the £99 holding charge
to make sure there are enough funds in your account

If you pay by credit card then all the pre auths should be off by the time the statement is produced.

£99 is a lot and I can imagine the less well off will be really inconvenienced by this change if the pre auths aren't removed and the actual correct amount charged quickly.

That would annoy me too.
What company was it?
My wife works in clin. neg. and her company are very strict about the ethical side of it.

Update. Just spoke to her. There are law society rules governing touting for business and or unsolicited emails.
She suggests a FOI request (subject access request), by law they have to disclose what information they hold on you and why you got that mail.

WAMT was not being able to find the little pouch thingy in which I keep spare batteries and a cleaning kit for my hearing aids. Spent an hour searching the house for the bloody thing!

However, see the WCMUT thread too...

Hearing a BBC presenter referring to Team GB atheletes 'medalling'
Ohh. You don't want to be medalling in anything to do with that there BBC... :naughty:

Council Jobsworths!

Getting married next weekend, yay! its a registry office do in town and I need a parking permit to get free parking outside while its going on. I have been told to get there 20 mins early to go over paperwork and check names etc. Fair do's. However, the jobsworth issuing permits has said she will only give me one starting 15 minutes before the service and the parking warden has a bit of leeway before they decide to give me a ticket if I'm there early! Oh thanks for that.

I'm very OCD about getting somewhere on time or early to make sure I'm on time so this is really annoying, I'll probably just park in the town car park and walk round to make sure I'm there on time.

Went to the local tip earlier, it's well organised, you show ID to get in, drive up skips, wait for someone to leave so you can park, put you rubbish in the appropriate labelled bit and drive out, always a short queue but it works well or at least it should'
Drove off to leave and there is a guy stopped talking to the entry chap, who was also trying to check people's ID
Eventually he did drive off a short distance and stopped again to talk to a truck driver parked up, jumped out of his car and left the door wide open !!! He didn't look too happy when I got out and slammed the door so I could drive round and ease the queue building up behind me behind me
