:D works in all browsers - its for people who cant read small print. Its handy. If you use it in Opera it increases picture sizes too :)

anyway...back to York.

Right then, we're a little over two weeks away from the event, if you've changed your mind or something has cropped up and you can't make it just drop me a pm, we'll be there no matter what.

Does everyone like chinese? All you can eat chinese, yummy.

Should we have two itineraries depending on weather? - bad weather we take in more of the inside stuff ala railway museum, yorvik and dungeons (for fun more than photos), minster etc and a mixture of more outdoor stuff if its sunny?

Sounds good, looking forward to it.

Not a huge chinese fan (don't like soy sauce which they seem to work into everything) but they always do chips, so I am fine :D

Not a huge Train or dungeons fan either so I might skip them and try some rain photography :D but fingers crossed for fine weather :D should be a gudden!

There wont be any rain!

We'll see if anyone else likes chinese before we decide anything like that then. The beauty of a buffet is that you can generally find something that you like even if it is chips and prawn crackers ;)

Sounds good, Matt! :) I'm easy and go with anything (food or itinary).

Not a fan of Chinese myself, but dont let that stop everyone else - my fussy eating habits are my curse and I dont think it fair that they should spoil other peoples enjoyment :D

I might be up for this meet (if you don't mind) :)
I'll have to see how busy work is though...its silly season ! :bang: :help:

Rich

I don't mind what we eat or when.

I also agree with us spilting up to 2 or 3 smaller groups.

When alls said and done, I'm easy. ( :nono: )

Rick, I'm sure I speak for everyone, you're welcome. Hope you can make it.

Put me down for this too, I may have the family in tow but they'll wander off on their own somewhere.

They could always be used to carry your camera gear while your making artistic judgements on composition through a monocle :D

Now there is a man with some sense..:D

Think I'm a no no again......Got a load of fitted wardrobes coming on the 13th, then I've got to fit them, so my whole weekend will be taken up with hammer, saw and carpenters head on. Sorry!!

I'm still a yes for this :D

I might even bring my camera if I can find it :bang:

Will pm everyone who put their names down later on, we need to decide on numbers and things for the mini groups, I'm thinking 4-5 as maximums?

I doubt that I'll be there, but looking at info on York I came across this site http://www.renaissanceyork.org.uk/ about lighting York at night.
I'll think you'll all have to plan on being there late in the day too.

This is from the site to give you an idea what they do.

Im still interested to, hope the weathers good :D

Yep, still interested and eagerly waiting further instructions. I've persuaded hubby to come along, which means a definate visit to the Railway museum.

Ok then, this is less than a week away, who is still wanting to come, what time do people fancy meeting, what do people want to see while there as this may help us to split up into smaller groups.

I dont think I'll be making it I'm afraid. It's very likely we'll be moving this week so I simply won't have the time.

I will keep an eye on the thread though, and if anything changes I have mobile numbers etc.

I"m still planning on going. I think we should have 2 meeting places set. One for crap weather and one for good weather. Hubby and son are probably coming too.

I'll be getting there by train so somewhere in that vicinity would be fine for me, dont know York so aslong as its near a major attraction or landmark I should be able to find my way there :)

For those people thinking of the park and ride, which is possibly a cheaper option rather then parking in the centre the one that is open latest apears to be Askham bar as the last bus out of town seems to be midnight, rather than around 8pm for the rest. Dont know what time people are thinking of leaving, but thinking it might be nice to see the lights that are mentioned above if they are still on.

I'm going to hold off the pm until tomorrow - that way the BBC will have a peliminary weather forecast up for Saturday and we can see where we stand in regards to the rain.

A suggestion - with the other meets that we've been on we've all had a tendancy to come back, process the pictures and hammer them up 20 at a time in our own threads, some people got 'sick' of looking at pictures of ruins for example from the Bolton Abbey trip. As a result some people didn't get the comments and critique that their work so much deserved. The same thing happened with the piccies from Twycross and Chester Zoos.

What I propose people do is if they have a photoblog, use the York trip as a source of your material for the next couple of weeks, if you don't then have a good look through your photos, process the ones that you like and pop them up a few at a time over the course of a few weeks. You're more likely to get comments and things if you limit your posts to a couple of pictures and perhaps we won't bore the rest of the forum with the pictures ;)

I think any and all people shots should be upped to the site as soon as possible but limited to a single thread - maybe a "TP York Visit - The People" thread. All the other stuff, remember its not a race and there will be 15 other people taking photos of the same thing you are so try and think "out of the box" and get some unusual shots.

You can of course ignore what I've said and just do what you like, I'm just trying to make sure you all get the best out of the trip, the pictures that you take and this place :D

Matt

Well at the moment, fingers crossed, we're on

What do people think about what I wrote up there? ^^

Most of the above seems fine to me, but I'll wait and see if I get any photos before I commit to any pre-conditions :D

They aren't conditions :( You can do what you like :p Just trying to stop people complaining about us when they get jealous of how good we all are at taking photos*

*Above statement may or may not be true and I won't commit to it until I see what I take in York :p

Umm. What time are we meeting?

Waiting to hear back from Arkady to see if he's coming or not and then I'm sending out a PM with some more information.

10am-11am?

Somewhere between 10am - 11am would be fine for me, which reminds me - better go and check train timetables :D

Well I think we're looking at a late finish aren't we so its not all that imperative that we have an early start.

Means I can sleep in on Saturday too, going to need it after tomorrow. Got a trip down to the BETT show in London and back. Yay.

hmmm any suggestions? from anyone?

According to multimap, York's about 2 hours 37 minutes away from me.

Barry, Marianne, what time do you want to leave your place?

I'm trying to decide whether to come to this but I'm very very limited on funds. Any idea what the plans are to be? I'm also not really a Chinese kinda guy, prefer to pop by a Subway :D

Hi Kamion...I'll ask Barry what he thinks and get back to you, d'you wanna pm me you phone number?
