TP Meet - York - 13th January 2007

Who plans on been there about 10, just so we know who we are waiting for.

I plan to be there for 10:00 ish, dependant on traffic etc.

Yes, I've got an interview for a promotion tomorrow, so off it came.

You should have kept it on. A beard makes you look more mature and people actually give you more respect. (That's how I felt when I kept a little goatie and moustache, or maybe they were just trying their best not to burst out laughing. hehe).

I am 51 how more mature can I look:lol:

Have to check train times still - will sort that later today, but planning to be there during the 10am hour.

I plan to be there as close to 10am as I can. My son is coming as well now, I just hope he doesn't get too bored.

Daft question is it Sat or Sun your going?

Sat

We should be there around 10 or so (I'm pretty much never late it is a "thing" with me). If the weather is attrocious I am planning on heading straight to the rail museum as it is very close to there. I've got a nifty which can be borrowed for a few shots Jimmy.

Rail Museum sounds like a go to me. You mean you'll go straight there before meeting up with the rest of us or meet up with the rest of us and then go to the museum?

At the moment, we've lost the rain for saturday

I'll meet up with ya'll and anyone who is interested can head to the museum. Again that is if the weather is crappy. If the weather is ok I'd like to do some street stuff first.

I've got flu :( but Im still planning on going, so long as I can crawl out of bed and the rail museum is a must for me if possible :D

I'm pretty sure I've got flu, had it since about Thursday of last week, the long day yesterday didn't help and my cough makes my skull hurt.

my cough makes my skull hurt.

Thats what I have, every time I cough my brain feels like its trying to explode from my skull:shake:

Im at work now, but going home soon, and putting tomorrow in as a holiday so "hopefully" will be recovering ready for York (heres praying):D

Should arrive around 9:35 I think. Street stuff would be cool. I'm itching to get back into that side of photography, and being with friends should hopefully boost my confidence.

:D Cheers. Jacobs sent my filters that I got for the fifty but not the lens yet! that's just torture!!!

I will be there by 10, me too would like to do street stuff and train museum sounds fun. Take it there are no issues with photographing in there?

EDIT: For some reason I cant speak propper like today :|

I'll make a deal you bring the filters and I'll bring the lens and together we have a hell of a setup. As for photographing in there I don't see it being a problem but then the last time I went I didn't have a whole bag of camera equipment to bring with me.

I'll have everything with me, including the 100-400

I'm just a little concerned about the wind and hoping its going to die down sooner rather than later.

Everything? :o I'll just have the 10-20, 24-70 and I'm debating the 50mm. Tripod over the shoulder too. That should cover street and architecture for me.

Don't want to worry you guys but just heard on the news the river Ouse has burst it's banks. Don't think you'll be doing much outdoor photography either, forecast for the weekend is much the same as today.

Plenty of indoor attractions though and warmer too.

So endeth the forecast :)

The river Wharfe has also burst its banks here too, The wind and rain have made conditions terrible for almost everything around here at the moment.:(

Saturday could be totally different though so good luck.;)

The River Aire seems to have been burst here for weeks, there is one particular road which always floods and have just seen a tow truck at the entrance of it, so I recon thats flooded again!

Hopefully all this will have cleared up by Saturday.

Well that could still be fun. Flooded York :D

I can see it now.. Long exposure shots of the water flowing through the streets of York. Now that would be interesting.:D

There is plenty of york that doesnt get flooded, its generally the pubs by the river that have marks on the bar from various years and how high the water has got.

I would like to do some shots of the minster as well as the railway museum, and street shots weather permitting.

Is anyone thinking of getting a york pass thing? will we save any moey or not? so what do everyone else want to do?

Can you buy these on the day from the train statin or tourist information and how much? , if so might be worth my while.

Well the train museum is free and that'll take at least 2 hours and York MInster is I believe £6 and I'm not sure about photography in there. The Jorvik viking centre is £7.75 I can't imagine we would have anymore time for more than that so I'm not too sure if the pass would be worth it. What else does it get you into?

Is there anything to photograph at the Jorvik place? Sat: Rain, Sun: Mostly Sunny.
