TP Meet - York - 13th January 2007

Not sure if I can make this now, developed flu on Wednesday and its just gone from bad to worse, absolutely loaded with it :(, see how it is tomorrow but spent all today in bed aching and coughing. Seriously gutted about possibly missing this :'(

I've got Matts mobile number so if I can get there I'll call to find out where abouts you all are.

If I dont see you, enjoy it and stay well clear of anyone with a cough.

I have a cough.

Don't worry about it too much mate, just drop me a txt in the morning if you decide either way in the morning.

hmmm... Matt, if you see the place underwater in the morning, please give me or Barry or Marianne a ring so we can do a u-turn. :)

What am I classing as underwater? Parts of it are underwater, whether they affect us or not I'm not sure. As long as there isn't a load more rain overnight we should be okay.

BBC weather is forecasting clouds and rain after 1900 tomorrow and 9 to 11 degrees C. Hopefully, no rain tonight!

Looks like Nunnery Lane car park is a good parking spot (especially if it's multistory) considering that it is a little way back from the river. :)

I'm parking on the 6th floor of a car park.... in Liverpool. Should be ok there me thinks ;)

Nunnery lane car park is not multistorey, but if that floods we are in trouble trust me :)

Please to say no real rain here overnight, which has to be good news, weather here is dry and reasonably mild at the moment and wind not too bad, (this is ten mile just outside the york walls :) ) The river was felt to have peaked yesterday and so hopefully will be no worse than photos yesterday. Even if it has risen there is plenty of things to do and see for photos of flooded rivers, to street photography the minster the railway museum, museum gardens, to name but a few, not forgetting the numerous bars and walls (not drinking bars I mean).

Hope to see some of you soon.

Hope you all have a great day

I'm off to B&Q in a mo for some supplies then its back to the wallpaper stripper :D

well we're sat in starbucks at the moment, just had a large latte yummy. got some fairly decent pictures I hope, talk to you all later

Well Pizza Hut made me ill so I've spent since 4 o'clock being in much pain.

Oh dear :( thats not good at all Renee.

We just got back to Sue's mum and dads, Kamion, Barry and Marianne are en route back to the south, we left Pete and Tom (JL) taking photos of the minster in the dark.

My feet are killing me but I really enjoyed the day out, thanks everyone for coming :)

Well me, Kev & Lance made it but I rather stupidly left my mobile at home so I couldn't call anyone to let you know we were there, we kept an eye out for you all but didn't see you anywhere.

Very pleased you enjoyed yourselves, sounds like an amazing day.

Really missed not being able to go to this, especially at such short notice.

Look forward to your pics when you all get the time

Were we supposed to take some pictures?

Damn, knew there was something I forgot to do ;)

Dont tell me Andy forgot his phone and you forgot your camera ;)

Hope you enjoyed StarBucks atleast

:D

So any problems with photography are was it permitted at all locations?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm Starbucks was yummy, love their giant mugs of coffee. warmed me up inside, although it has to be said it was extremely mild to say it was the middle of jan.

Photography was fine everywhere, the £7 entry fee for the minster is valid for 12 months if you fill in a little coupon for tax gift aid.

I even got a picture of pete minus hat - they made him take it off!

Glad you guys had fun after we left. Can't wait to see the pics of York. I got some of the flooding but just quick snaps.

Real pleased you had a good time and looking forward to seeing the pics. Here is the closest I came to York today -

Well Pizza Hut made me ill so I've spent since 4 o'clock being in much pain.

 Poor Renee! That doesnt rank high on my list of good Pizza Huts, our waitress was helpfull, but it was very slow for a small place!

Hope you feel better soon!

P.S Got home and my bloody 70-300 Sigma had arrived about an hour after I set out this morning!! GRRRRRRR

I thought our service was quite quick, it was certainly the best in terms of free refills on the pepsi max when they brought us a jug over :D

b****r about your lens arriving this morning :/

Actually yeah I guess ours was reasonable quick. Still took an hour and a half in that place though :p (though I think that might be down to two ice cream factory man!)

No the minster was very accomodating - they said we could take photos anywhere except downstairs, tripods are allowed anywhere and it was all good.

Barry had two trips to the ice cream factory too!

Well, I just got home. Barry and Marianne got home safe too. It was rather wet on the way down. Hope JL and Pete didn't get soaked!

Thanks to Matt and Sue for organising it!

I'm really knackered, but it was really nice meeting everyone!

We did get a bit wet on the walk back to the station/car park from the minster, but it wasnt too bad! As it was the only real rain of the day it wasnt too bad.

Glad everyone made it home safe and sound. I just finished prossesing my first batch. Not too bad although quite a bit of noise on some.

Aaaaand I've just got in. They wouldn't let me take an early train unless I paid £23. Thankfully I had my PSP with plenty to watch on it. Very cold though, and the train was too. It is also true that one of God's peons asked me to remove thy hat or thy would have been smitten on the spot. I tried to explain that I had hat hair but they didn't accept it. God 1, Pete 0.

Anywho, top day guys. Nice to meet you all.

Glad you got back ok Pete. £23 just to catch an earlier train, that's just stupid....and I wondered to myself on the way home why I didn't use the train! :(

Some people just dont have any respect do they :D

So how much longer did you have to wait before they would let you on a train? Sounds scandalous to charge that much.

Ouch, was expecting maybe 30mins - or an hour at most :(
