Looks like she's get her heart set on a Skoda Yeti. Going over to a dealer in the morning to have a look at a 66 plate one.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.

I have a happy wifey, the Yeti is home!

Seeing as you banned me for three days for not disclosing (Virus thread in Hot Topics) which staff member broke lockdown rules before Christmas, well I am now back and you will be glad to know it was yourself and your good lady wife that broke lockdown.

UK Government Update – 4 November
Legislation for Lockdown 2 in England published

The regulations for the second lockdown in England, due to come into force at 00:01 on Thursday 5 November, have been laid before Parliament under the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984.

The key sections of the legislation for automotive businesses are:

  • Page 31; Point 26: Closure of ‘Showrooms and other premises, including outdoor areas, used for the sale or hire of caravans, boats or any vehicle which can be propelled by mechanical means, and car washes’.

You had already posted earlier on page 1 of this thread that you knew car dealers weren't open due to lockdown.

Because car sales are considered non essential, the only way you can buy a car, new or second hand from a dealership is online. You can then go and collect the car or the dealership delivers it for you.
You aren't allowed to go to dealerships to view cars or have test drives. It is solely click and collect or click and delivery. Payment or deposit paid and paperwork signed online (email) only. All that changes hands is the keys.

So now you and everyone who cares to read this post knows.
(Until you or another staff member deletes my post and I daresay bans me for good) ;)

Cheers dick.
He was desperate to know and wanted me to post it in the virus thread. I can't do that as I am unable to post in that thread anymore.
Might have known you would be along to suck up.

Assuming you mean this

Again I agree. She's been looking online and she quite likes the Toyota Auris. Frustrating that the dealers are closed atm so she can't have a look at one.

As you say in you rather pathetic attempt to "call me out",

That's how it was done, click & collect.

Any more accusations you want to make or are you done behaving like a petulant child?

Was it really?

Yes, when you do click and collect, you look at the car before confirming that you want to buy it. She paid a deposit for them to hold it!

Anything else you don't understand but insist on displaying your ignorance?

It is you and the dealer in question that fails to understand.
The lockdown rules for second hand dealerships is exactly the same as for new car dealerships. You select the car you are interested in. The only viewing available before you buy is if the dealership offers a video online.
Otherwise it would be no different to a normal purchase.
Try to wriggle out of it as much as you like, but you and the dealership were in the wrong.

It's a little difficult to collect a car without looking at it or are you suggesting she should've been blindfolded?

That is the only option at the moment. It's not really any different to the companies like Cinch as advertised on the TV. You look online, select and pay for the car you want, except they deliver the car to you. Dealers are supposed to be shut at the moment as car sales are non essential, blind sales are the only way of getting around it.

You really are having difficulty with the concept.

We did click and collect

We went to the dealer

We looked at the car to check that it was as described

We drove the car away

Nothing illegal there as far as Covid regulations were concerned.

Which part of the above are you struggling with? 'm happy to explain any of it to you.

Dangerously close to libel.

Last line is worth consideration...

Since when did you become a stickler for the rules?
I'm sure you really shouldn't have gone back into work to shoot photos at the track when you were finished your shift.....

People are allowed to travel to take exercise. Lockdown rules don't state where that exercise has to take place other than outdoors. I didn't reenter the building, nor did I meet up with anyone from the other shift. I was on private land, so quite easily to socially distance from everyone. I could have just as easily sat in my car in the car park for a couple of hours and waited for the team to arrive.

You are the one struggling not me.
Read carefully,
You are only allowed to look at the vehicle online, whether it is photos or a video. You pay your money online, all paperwork is signed online.
You then go to the dealer, take the keys, and drive away, no second look at the vehicle to make sure it is as advertised. It is just a handover of the keys any paperwork can be left in the vehicle and you drive away. That is it. How can you not understand that.
Quite easy to do with new cars.
Doesn't sit comfortably as a buying concept for 2nd hand cars which will be a reason why 2nd hand car sales have also taken a dive over the last few months.

You really are a piece of work, aren't you? I swear that you think that if ever you admit you're wrong about anything, your dick will fall off.

So, for the last time, when collecting, you are allowed to walk around the car to make sure that everything is ok before driving it away, just the same as if you have the car delivered, you can check that everything is ok before whoever delivers it leaves. This is basic consumer rights and was not affected by Covid regulations.

No, unless you have some specific evidence that say otherwise, I suggest you leave it. If you're too thick* to understand, that's your problem.

*although I suspect you're not thick but just being an antagonistic, vindictive troll.

As for

(Until you or another staff member deletes my post and I daresay bans me for good) ;)

More baseless accusations, some might almost think that you want to be banned.

Odd then that this post doesn't say you have already bought one and were going to pick it up.

Keep wriggling.

Private land is irrelevant....you visited a track to take photographs.
Against the rules, no matter how you try and dress it up....
