The TP52 - 2026 The Sign-Up and Chat Thread - Week 14 Snappers Choice

I'll have another go if you will sign me up please.

I hope to do better than last year.

You are living proof of that Tim!

I shouldn't really as I have failed miserabley (again) ,,,,,,,, is it too late to retract my submission ?

Just checking, this starts tomorrow and is the thread where themes will be posted?
Hi @BlackDogPhoto. Yes, it starts tomorrow.
@lindsay will post the theme in this thread - normally around lunchtime.
Photos are to be posted in a new photo thread (still to be created) with a title something like "Post your images here - no comments please - Week 52 {theme}" with a link to your personal thread (which I can see you've already created :) )

Exactly as Tim says - except that I will usually post the new theme earlier, probably around 8-9am each Friday morning.

Hi folks

@lindsay @LC2

I’m in - apologies for late intentions. I have been down with the dreaded 'rona

Found it hard to complete last year (although I did), as lacked the commitment and the weeks came round too quickly, but I’ll give it another go this year!

Silly question! Do we need to use the technique for each entry in the first two months ie this week an image featuring lines/angles but also framed...

As a side,I thought i would research framing to get some idea, and amazing the amount of videos that call framing composition!

There are no silly questions.
The idea is to use the technique once during the 2 months period, although you can use it more if you wish.

Not a silly question at all. No, you only need to use the technique for one photo during the period, and declare on the main thread that you have used the technique.

Of course, you may choose to use the technique on further images - sometimes people really start to get into something, especially if it is new.

Framing is a compositional technique, @Boots Paul, so the videos are not wrong.

Err, wasn't actually me asking the question, but I'm sure @BlackDogPhoto will like to know.

But it is an interesting question. Many people will use the term framing to mean the general composition: what's in, what's out, leading lines etc., etc.. Many other will use it to mean "a frame within a frame" (i.e. shooting a scene through an archway).

I was taking it to mean "a frame within a frame". What do others think?

Is there general confusion, or is everyone quite happy?

I'm struggling to add a link? I'm following Cobra's advice but it's not working?

When I right click my post number I get this
Link.jpg
I don't get 'Copy link address'? If I click 'Copy link' I don't Get a reply box.

I was working on the basis of frame within a frame

@Boots, sorry you're right, it was Bob's question.
Framing is a compositional technique. It may be using a feature of the image as a frame for something else, or a frame within a frame, it may be a complete frame or a partial one. It's all framing. Don't overthink it.

Jak, what OS and Browser are you using?

Chrome on Windows 11 gives me:

Hi @Norkie .

I don't have any fruit based devices, so these are educated guesses, but...
When you right click on the post number and get that menu, select "Copy Link".
This should have copied the link address into the clipboard
To prove this, open your text editor (TextEdit?) and paste the clipboard into it (Command V, or a right click and select paste?).

You can simply paste this text into the post, it will give you the ugly link as text, but the nicer way to do it is to select this option from the toolbar

Which gives you this input box

Paste the copied link into the URL field, and the text you want to display into the Text field.

PS. I've done it for you.
PPS. To avoid typing into the text field, you can highlight the text you want to be the link before selecting the "Insert Link" option, and it will pre-fill / use that text as the text for the link.

Many thanks Tim, I'll try harder next week :)

Well, after 12 years of 52s with the last 11 continuously, I've decided to take a break this year. Not that I've lost my mojo for :snaphappy: it's just that I've found last year quite challenging ;) for ideas and inspirations with some of the themes. It may be that I have done those themes once or twice before. My feedback and comments with others were nonexistent, either.
However, I'll still pop in here to (y)occasionally. Good luck to everyone taking part and enjoy the Challenge. I did for many years! :)

You'll be missed Stan.
We'll maybe see you in 2027?
Maybe look at the Nifty Fifty or alphabet challenges in the Challenges and Inspiration sub forum if you want to keep your hand in.

Cheers, Tim. I'm sure I may be back in 2027. :) Yes, I've and will be taking part in those challenges and DPOTY too,

I'd love to join, never finished one before. This is the year... hopefully!
Hi Kane.
I've added you to the scrolls. Have you done the 52 before? I can't find you going back to 2012 (you may have changed names?)
If you've not done the 52 before, please have a read through:
as that has the guides and help info.

Hi @paul_hax @plloydie
Welcome aboard for the 2026 '52.
Can I ask that you have a read through the challenge guidelines at:
as this walks you through how we manage the 52 and what you need to do :)

In short...
Create your own thread to post, comment, receive comments etc.
Post in the main thread and link the post back to the relevant post in your thread.
Ensure you title your post in both threads with the week, theme and technique (if applicable).

This helps everyone know which theme you are posting, allows you to expand on your thoughts when taking the shot, and allows others to comment etc.

General chat for the 52 is done in this thread :)

Any questions, please ask and someone will normally be able to assist.
Tim

Hi Tim, is this challenge for pics taken in that particular week or can pics from your archives be entered?
