You must be sniffing glue if you really think that Steve .....no offence.
That ignores the potential for one party to actively make things worse.
As an example, if you currently claim any sort of benefit, there will clearly be changes coming after the election - and you therefore have a vested interest in getting your arse down to the polling station.
People who whine about "no party represents me" are missing the point of representational democracy. Candidates aren't there to vote on your behalf on every issue - they're their to represent all their constituents as they see fit. Inevitably, even the party of your choosing won't act the way you would wish on every single issue. But if you can't see a difference between the parties on even a single issue, you're not trying hard enough.
This election thread has now become as boring as the real thing![]()

Better than Thatcher and Howe? Superior to Thatcher and Lawson?Best PM and Chancellor for a long time.
If coalition is inevitable - rather than ticking one box - why don't they have a selection of coalition options to choose from on the voting card ?
Better than Thatcher and Howe? Superior to Thatcher and Lawson?
You surprise me.
I'll not be voting. The expenses episode put me off politicians forever. If the party leaders had shown some backbone and thrown out the transgressors then it would have meant something. Instead the whole of Westminster clubbed together to protect their own. And it's still going on.
The worst part about it is these people then have the audacity to stand for reelection. People that are morally bankrupt and have no principals. And the electorate vote them back in. It's no wonder that MPs think they can get away with so much and never have to face the consequences when we keep giving them a second chance.
Not voting is obviously your right, but it doesnt really help send any kind of message to the Politicians does it? If you dont want any of them in power, maybe it would be a better idea to spoil your ballot paper instead. These get counted as far as I know, so would (in my opinion) send a stronger message.
If you do nothing there is nothing to differentaite your thought proces from the can't be arsedWatched Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg & David Cameron tonight with my kids.

Dave was probably leaving them in the pub. Not sure about the others though. What were Ed, Nick and Dave doing with your kids ? - if you sell that story to the papers you could bring the election down in flames![]()

I want honest MPs in government. .

I want honest MPs in government. People who stand up for their principals and who want to do right for the people of this country. Wishful thinking I know. There are far too many career politicians today in it for themselves and too many lightweights who don't have anything to say that is worth listening too.
In our constituency canvassing for my vote has been confined to leaflets pushed through the door. Is that engaging with the electorate? It's no wonder that 35-40 % of the population don't vote.
I can't be arsed voting. And I'd rather rub my ass with a rough brick than take time out of my day to go to the polling stations to spoil a paper.

.Ok, fair enough, but if you choose to not use that voice you have, im not sure you can complain about the outcome. All my opinion of course.
IMO voting should be mandatory, but there should be a 'none of the above' box - the problem comes when none of the above has a collosal majority.
I was going to spoil my paper, but we have an independent candidate standing who seems sensible, so i shall vote for her instead
Also the technology should also be there for people to vote over the net... there has to be a way of working it with a unique identifier so it can't be rigged.. which would make it a lot less hassle to do and remove the "well I CBA to drive for half an hour to vote Notab"
Democracy is about having the choice even if that choice is not to exercise your democratic right to vote which , if you don't, is exercising your democratic right. I think.
Quite. I did an actual facepalm when they opened Clegg's questions with one about tuition fees. Yeah, 'cos he hasn't answered that one a million times already and got his script worked out. Changez le disc.Im not for one moment saying that we would have got straight, honest answers, but that in itself speaks volumes about them. Better than cheap shots, surely?
