three big points for cardiff city today.west bromich albion have sacked steve clarke tonight after another defeat big sam alladyce for the chop next i think.

Did you really expect to win away at city? Honest answer please.

I'm not going to use excuses of 3 massive games in a week or injuries for losing today, Sometimes you get beaten by the better team, and let's not forget city are most people's favourites to be crowned campions this season.

On a positive note, who would have thought at the beginning of the season Arsenal would be sitting top of the league 3 points clear and get through to the knock out stages of the CL with the terms in that group? Not many including me!

Thought we could, maybe catch them on the break. What was disappointing was that we gave them most of the goals. Some schoolboy defending was inexcusable. Would have preferred Arteta and Flamini, with Ozil, Ramsey and Walcott supporting.

what was wiltshire doing on the pitch he didnt look match fit to me but fair play to city they are immense at home.

Wow, I didn't see that Liverpool result coming. Not with Gerrard and Sturridge missing. I was hoping for at least a draw.

Liverpool were brilliant. They wanted it more than Spurs, and everyone was on the same wavelength. Spurs may have played during the week, but they should have been on a high after the result they got midweek. The talk before the game was how Liverpool would be outplayed in midfield because of Spurs strength in midfield, but it was the whole Liverpool team who took it to Spurs.

Crazy score, never expected a win away to spurs.

Need to make sure we follow it up with a neat and tidy win against Cardiff on Saturday. Tough ask still to get in top four but this must give the players confidence to do just that.

Sullivan says he supports Allardyce but the reality is there's no one else (that would go to WHU) that is any better than Sam.

Probably AVB to go next judging by the spuds fans impatience. And why do Liverpool always play a blinder when Gerrard is off the pitch?

Blimey. I chose a brilliant time to go out with the family and miss a match! Can't wait to watch that back later.

Will AVB be in a job in the morning?

When he is on the pitch the team look to him to do something, when not the whole team steps up. Simple as well that.

Totally agree. It has been like that for many years. It started to change last year when Gerrard was injured, and player took more responsibility, and so became more unpredictable, but in recent weeks it has started to revert to everyone deferring to Gerrard rather than take a man on or pass themselves to somebody else, possibly in a better situation.

Hopefully this will not be a one off, and they continue playing like today. If they do, hopefully Gerrard will find it hard to walk straight back into the team. :)

Missed the footy today too as I was also with family but I was delighted to hear Darren Fletcher was back (again) for United.

Super win for Liverpool. That baldy football writer was saying no involvement in the Champions League is worth 9 points a season over the rivals but regardless of that, I think Liverpool win be in the mix come the end of the season when the title race begins but in all honesty, so they should be.

Chamions League Draw...

Manchester City v Barcelona
Olympiakos v Manchester United
AC Milan v Atletico Madrid
Bayer Leverkusen v Paris St-Germain
Galatasaray v Chelsea
Schalke v Real Madrid
Zenit St Petersburg v Dortmund
Arsenal v Bayern Munich

AVB sacked...
I'm quite shocked by that. I dont know why, but I am.

Good draw for United and a tough draw for the other english teams; saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if they all progressed.

Nothing Levy does surprises me.

I didn't expect Villas-Boas to get the sack either. Saying that, Levy looked quite upset, unsurprisingly, during the Liverpool game. Maybe he didn't count to 10 before pulling the trigger.

This is such a big season to stay in the Premier League, so you expect clubs at the bottom to get twitchy, the teams at the top though, that is either very brave, thinking you can't see it getting better any time soon, or it may turn into a huge mistake. Spurs have a big decision ahead.

It seems Levy is quick to blame others for his mistakes, Method in his madness.

Levy is the one who should go. There have been a number of poor appointments at Spurs over the years... and while AVB had made mistakes he did get them the most points in the PL last season even though they finished 5th. Yes, some poor results but did he really sign all those players or did Levy/Director of Football? While they keep chopping and changing they will not succeed.

Rodgers looks like he is doing a great job at Anfield, IIRC he didn't have the greatest of starts, it was tough, but he has got these players performing and playing good stuff - although helps when you have Suarez!

So, although its not halfway still, who is POTY so far... Suarez or Ramsey?

I'd say Ramsey is the most improved player by far. Suarez though is in unbelievable form, 17 goals in 11 games. On Sunday he scored two, and set up another two, and had a hand in the fifth. :notworthy: He's bound to mess it up in some way, ;) but for now he is playing amazingly well. Long may it last.

Aguero was also having an excellent season until the injury. Hopefully it's not too serious. Fingers crossed for Dyer too, thankfully not a break, but still doesn't sound good. :( Not nice to see players get injured.

Agreed re players and that mascot deserves a medal. He took it well though.
Apparently it took a £20 bribe from her father to make her throw throw the handshake. More corruption in football.

Surprised to see Chel$ki get knocked out of the Capital One cup by Sunderland. I wonder if Moaninho is still liking the loan system as Borini, another player on loan from Liverpool, does it again. ;)

Never mind the Camp Nou. United can do it on a cold windy December night in Stoke !

Well he was a Chelsea player originally so I guess they knew what he was (or wasn't) capable of :)

Good to see a bit of fight from West Ham tonight with one of their main strikers scoring for the first time in over a year! Wonder if they can turn Man City over in the semis......

Suarez has signed a new deal at LFC. best Christmas present I'll get this year.

Very good news, but the doubt remains that there are clauses which will allow him to leave in certain scenarios, Liverpool not qualifying for Europe for example, or if a club bids a certain amount. His Agent would not have made the same mistake again with regards to looking after his client.

Still should hopefully fend off interest over this coming transfer window. :)

Clauses are a given, but as long as they require 100mill to sell nobody loses. Should we fail to secure CL football I'd wave him off.

He probably got a new contract drafted because his old one was as leaky as a sieve e.g. I bet there are no more Arsend type bids of x + £1 allowed. I wonder if LFC has insisted on any "consequences of discipline" type clauses. I'm sure they don't want to be without him for another 30% of matches without recompense.

I'm not sure who would spend £100m ?

I'm not questioning the price - more wondering who would spend that much on a player.

The obvious club would be Real Madrid but I think that ship sailed when they bought Bale.

At the moment we don't know what the buyout clause would be. £100m is a nice round figure, but it could be lower than that.

You would hope that they would insert some penalties for indiscipline. It would be a wise move looking back at his history. ;)

There are still Oligarch's owning clubs. ;) And I wouldn't rule Real out of spending any amount of money with some of the dodgy financing they get.

I obviously hope nobody can afford whatever buyout clause Liverpool may have put into his contract. :)

I thought Real had pretty much said the purse strings were tight.

I can't see Chelsea or City doing it. PSG perhaps.

Liverpool will not sell to a premiership club - that much is obvious.

He got such a great reception from both sets of fans on a regulation win with another brace of crackers from Suarez. Top of the league!

I hope the FA are watching the CCFC fans and start getting involved with these Rich Boys playthings, i can't imagine theres many real football fans who are now enjoying the premier league with the criminal amounts of money being waved around......even Suarez, he's on top form, but £200,000 a week is utter madness.
About time they brought back the ruling of the number of foreign players per team.

It's a tough one.

More English players playing at a higher level would probably benefit the National team but surely clubs should be free to buy whichever players they want regardless of Nationalality ?
