Let's not get carried away now, he hasn't been a total waste of space or money lately, but there is a lot more he needs to do to justify his cost. :-/

I respectfully disagree. He was never a waste of space and I've always backed him to come good in the same way Lucas did.

Anyway - performance aside - what odds on a Suarez sissy fit tomorrow ?

Is Hannah your alter ego phil? Come on you can tell us

Perhaps Phil is my alter ego and I'm a 12 year old girl

I'd say slightly lower than a ferguson one.

Fergie always has a hissy fit at some point  I was talking about what odds on one from Suarez.

9/4 for a goal mixed with 33/1 for a red card might be worth a quid or two

Surprised its 33-1 with Webb in the starting lineup.

What are the odds on united being granted a penalty? 1-10?

Liverpool fans need Webb as the ref and some Suarez stick - it sustains their persecution complex and tiresome claims of the game being corrupt

I told you about the tin foil hat.

Could be about that - although you tend to be 'game raisers' so perhaps not ;)

I'd heard that Rodriguez had dived without contact but was waiting for MOTD to see it for myself. It's a shocking dive by the Southampton man. Something has to be done to punish these things retrospectively every single time they occur, and yes you can include Cazorla in there.

I guess whilst Prmier League Managers like Adkins make comments such as "there was no contact but if the defender hadn't moved his leg away there would've been" diving will never go away.

Players running into a leg which constitutes a foul or players diving to avoid an outstretched leg does my head in.

Where do we draw the line though as players do try to 'avoid' what they think might be a hard incoming tackle.

If the tackle (or foul) doesn't actually arrive as they'd expected then what constitutes a dive ?

I hope you're right. Only time will tell.

The Rodriguez dive was not as blatant as it was reported earlier imho. Obviously never touched though. :nono:

The Wigan goal shouldn't have stood no matter how good the shot for the goal was, nevermind what Shearer says. ;)

36 points for my FF team so far, above the average of 26 for the day, :) with hopefully more to come from Tevez and Hart against Arsenal.

Straight red cards and a 3 match ban for diving should sort it out :)

Well you could argue as its supposed to be a contact sport, that if a player is diving out of the way of a tackle then it's a dive. The referee is supposed to deem what is foul play, and therefore if a tackle is not legal then the referees job becomes much easier.

In the case of the Southampton player, I don't even think he was expecting the tackle, I think someone in the stand must have opened one of the doors and the wind from it blew him over  Adkins was trying to justify his players actions, and by doing so kind of defended the whole simulation thing in my book.

It's knowing what constitutes a 'dive' that's the problem.

There are certainly some silly ones that are obvious and I'm all for punishing people for those but it's such a grey area.

For example

Somebody can come steaming in with a leg breaker, make no contact yet you dive out the way. Is that a dive ?

Somebody can leave a lame leg out with no real intent yet make contact so you dive to win a free kick. Is that a dive ?

I've said before - players behave differently in the 18 yard box and I think it's the whole issue of 'the 'penalty' that needs sorted out. There's just too much to gain from a penalty in a sport that only serves up 2 or 3 goals per game in open play.

Diving to avoid a challenge is one thing but rolling around as if you have been shot is another. If a player wants to sensibly "chicken" out of a challenge they should not be appealing for a penalty or free kick :)

The problem is the Law in football is that the referee can use 'intention' when a player swings a leg out...contact or not can still be deemed as a foul. See how hard it is for the ref.

The fouls given I don't like are the ones where players leave their legs/feet trailing so have no option to be 'caught' by the other player, for me this is not a foul and I bet 99% of goalies will agree with me.

I agree with both of you - it's a frustrating area of the game.

Anyway - just listening to Brendan 'Brent' Rodgers on the radio.....

I don't buy into 'transitional periods'. Every team from the top to the bottom of whatever league you care to mention is in transition as football teams are continually evolving. The measure of any club (or business) is how you manage continuity be it the manager, players or employees to move forward without falling behind.

I don't buy into 'projects' either. That tends to be when every man and his dog knows that 'transitional' has failed.

No political fan buttering twaddle from United despite being in 'transition' LOL.

It's another home game and as with any other game - 3 points are the priority. I'll be gutted if we loose. We need to try and = city.

Just read on Twitter that Luis Suarez won't be shaking hands with any Man United players today.

He doesn't want to risk any injury to his goal scoring hand.

Well, I don't hold out much hope for this game s am getting some hedge bets in now to try and cheer me up in the event of a loss

I have £5 on the following bets:

Man Utd awarded a pen and a Liverpool player sent off (anytime) 17-1

A penalty awarded, red card shown & goal after 89:59 51-1

suarez to score first and man u to win 2-1 - 67-1

Why don't you treble them......now that would be a bet to pull off!

The first one and last aren't unlikely.

The second is a long shot but certainly worth a dabble with those odds.

1st is the most likely. Webb gives united more pens than other refs and is harsher with yellows.

Well first half has been very one sided and amazingly Webb hasn't given a bad decision yet.

Not happy with just 1:0 at half time.

Liverpool haven't been at the races and with less sloppy finishing United would be out of site.

Fingers crossed we dont pay for it in the 2nd half.

+1

Sturridge is on, so Liverpool have to push on.. hopefully give us more chances to break and punish them.

let's hope i only need to edit the united score next :gag:

I'll not be happy with the result if they get a draw.

you lucky lucky boy Johnson

Well a pretty muted game.

Man united owned the first half and then played very poorly in 2nd half and Liverpool should have monopolised as they outplayed them. A fair result would have been a draw but Liverpool didn't take their chances.

No drama from Webb either.

In the end the result was 2-1 exactly how I predicted. Jut a shame Suarez didn't get the first goal as I would have won a few pennies.
