Just sitting down to watch MOTD2 having seen nothing at all this weekend.

Have to say Ferdinand is coming across like the piece of s@@t he is. Not shaking Coles hand too? How long is this going to go on for? The longer it does the more stupid he looks.

Really. You have no respect for someone who's verbally abused you or supported that abuser and you think you should be civil to them?

Every single weekend players verbally abuse each other in the heat of a match. If everyone was like Ferdinand there would be no handshake. Evra saw no problem with trying to move on and shake Suarez hand.

Court of law says otherwise, case closed !

Not quite, Terry admitted he said it, the court ruled that in their opinion Terry did not mean it in a racist undertone, Ferdinand is allowed to have his own opinions.

Just ban the handshake, or better still - ban the reporting/televising of the handshake.

Bit of a feeble weekend of footie games IMO but we can't have spectacular every week.

I see the Olympic spirit has not left Old Trafford yet Mr Daley Welbeck!

I agree, the fact is that as far as an offence, he was proved innocent, they should all draw a line under it and move on, what really gets me is not shaking Ashley Coles hand after he was called a choc ice !!!

Childish and very difficult when my 5 yr old lad asks what all the fuss about !!!

Friend had a spare seat so got a rare chance to go to the game (Utd - Wigan) on Saturday.
From where i was sat, it looked a pen, but i s'pose only Welbeck could tell you if it was a dive or not.
A few things i noticed from the match;

1) I'd be a very happy man if Nani and Carrick never play for us ever again. woeful the pair of them, but especially Nani. The lad had 4 or 5 shots from just outside the box and not one on target. in fact i think all of them went at least 10 yards wide/high! Constantly trying to take on 2 or 3 players and losing the ball EVERY time when better options are available.

2) Scholesy...well what can you say? class.

3) Welbeck, Buttner and Powell all looked good, everyone else very poor, lucky we played a dismal Wigan side.

4) How on earth was the wigan #5 not booked?? lost count of the number of dangerous tackles he made, very poor ref.

5) Very sad, disappointed to hear 'that' chant, but i have to say it was only sung once at the start of the game and was swiftly drowned out with the disapproval of most of the fans. Equally sad to read the media trying to blow it up out of all proportion (how ironic is that?).

took the FZ45 in but didn't get many pics...

Exactly. And Anton's brother used a racially offensive term at cole. So they are all as bad as each other. And not shaking Coles hand is pathetic, all cole did was go ti court and give his version of events.

Pedant...he didn't...he retweeted what somebody else wrote about Cole.

When ever I have played sport in a team game, I can never remember wanting to shake the opposition by the hand, afterwards - yes.

The footie authorities have got themselves in a twist over this. Name calling has gone on since we could speak, why would a handshake stop this? It is sportsmanship/gamesmanship that creates a fervour between the players and adds to the excitement of a contest. If we were to have insipid toleration, we may as watch carpet bowls.

Were there any Hillsborough songs ?

If you mean the songs 'Always the Victim' or 'It's never your fault' then these are not really Hillsborough songs. Like 'Sign on', they're pretty much just general Liverpool songs more recently relating to being generally hard done by, the Suarez affair, Rafa's 'fachts', refereeing conspiracies etc etc

Whatever the intention, unfortunately there are some idiots out there and whilst the Liverpool songs tend to be more common in the few weeks building up to the game, those singing these songs should have had the sense to know it's a sensitive time and put a sock in it.

Come of it phil

the "it's never your fault" song of course it was being sung due to the recent findings at hillsborough. Whilst it may not have originated as being about hillsborough you can bet your mortgage that is exactly why it was being sung since the first game united have played since the findings were released. Even you mustn't be naive enough to sit under the umbrella that it wasn't.

deplorable and I agree with Joe Jordan - fans singing songs like that should be banned for life - I'd say the same thing to any liverpool fans singing about the munich disaster

Come off what Joe ?

I'm not defending anybody that sang those songs, I'm just pointing out that those particular songs are not as cut and dry as the press would have you think.

As for it being the first game United have played since the findings were released, only those singing could tell you their intentions but remember those songs are sung right through the season.

Like I said - there are some idiots out there and whilst these particular songs are not as bad as those about specific events (Heysel, Munich, Hillsborough etc) - they shouldn't have been sung at this time.

This won't be the end of it. A criminal court just needs reasonable doubt for a not guilty verdict. The upcoming FA hearing will be based on balance of probabilities. If that doesn't work for Ferdinand then next up is likely to be a civil suit.

Come off the fact that you are indicating that those songs aren't in response to hillsborough. Of course they were. Don't be so naive

I can only asume that you're not not fully understanding my posts Joe.

I deplore such songs as do the majority of decent people however opinion is divided even amongst those who sing that song as to whether they intend it as Hillsborough song.

Either way there are certainly connotations of Hillsborough based on how it's perceived by the majority of fans who rightly voiced their dissaproval. Fortunately, I've not heard any reports of the more vile songs being sung.

Perhaps I'm less optimistic than the clubs themselves when it comes to United and Liverpool fans cleaning up their 'set list', especially with the match just around the corner. I hope the idiots keep the whole Hillsborough / Munich rubbish to themselves however I wouldn't like to think that events of the last week mean that rival fans have to have a 'love in' or that every derogatory song is blown out of proportion.

great goal from Baines

Just back from Inverness in time to watch Real Madrid v City (that still sounds funny)

You're kidding aren't you? Liverpool fans can't afford iPhone 5s!!! They don't earn London wages like man united fans

:lol::lol::nuts:

Iphone 5 would be useless for next season - you'd need twin screens.

Sweeeeeeet lol

Well said joe hart. It's great to see a player just tell it like it is and lose all the media training bs

Real deserved to win the game over the course of 90 mins but when you're a goal up with a couple of minutes to go, he's right in that you don't expect to loose regardless of the balance of play.

Funny interview though.

Liverpool and Manchester United to unite in tribute to Hillsborough victims on Sunday.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...on-Sunday.html

Liverpool and Manchester United will put aside their rivalries and participate in a joint tribute to the victims of Hillsborough when the clubs meet in the Premier League on Sunday, it was confirmed on Tuesday night.

By Chris Bascombe

The opposing captains, likely to be Steven Gerrard and Nemanja Vidic, will share the honour of releasing 96 red balloons shortly before kick-off, to represent the number of Liverpool supporters who perished on the fateful day in Sheffield 23 years ago.

In what will be the first time home game for the Merseyside club since the publication of the Hillsborough Independent Panel’s exhaustive report into the disaster, the pre-match ceremonies will duly recognise the significance of recent events.

Manchester United have shown their willingness to play their part since it became apparent their trip to Merseyside coincided with Liverpool’s desire to express their respect and gratitude to all those who have fought so diligently and passionately for the truth to be established.

Anfield will become a shrine prior to kick off. Liverpool announced plans for three sides of the stadium to form mosaics to honour the 96 supporters who died.

As the opposing players exit the tunnel to the club’s anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, The Kop will display the words ‘The Truth’.

The Anfield Road end, directly facing The Kop, will reveal the number ‘96’. And the adjoining Centenary Stand of the stadium will depict the most pertinent observation of ‘Justice’.

Representatives of the three support groups — The Hillsborough Family Support Group, Hillsborough Justice Campaign and Hope for Hillsborough – who have worked so tirelessly to uncover the facts and dispel the myths surrounding the tragedy, will be honoured guests at the fixture.

Liverpool and United have held discussions at senior level in recent days to ensure the correct tone is set in what is often a volatile meeting of the North West clubs.

Liverpool’s managing director, Ian Ayre, liaised directly with Old Trafford chief executive David Gill to oversee proceedings this weekend.

Although there are inevitable sporting tensions between the clubs and their fans, traditionally the hierarchies have enjoyed a professional relationship and this is reflected in the mutual respect shown over the past week.

“It is our first opportunity we have had as a football club to pay tribute at Anfield to what everybody has done: the families, the fans and various other people like Andy Burnham MP,” said Ayre.

“It is a chance for everybody to show their respects on the day.” Both clubs are aware there is little can be done about the incendiary atmosphere that usually typifies meetings between England’s two most successful clubs.

Neither is particularly keen to see the intensity that makes the fixture such a global attraction compromised, but there is an acknowledgement — particularly following the controversies of last season — to ensure certain boundaries of taste and decency are adhered too.

Concerns have inevitably been raised about the timing of United’s visit given recent issues between the clubs, but both see the meeting as an opportunity to show how for the overwhelming majority of those connected to Anfield and Old Trafford there is a mutual understanding and sympathy for what they’ve experienced throughout their history.

All the discussions between the clubs have focused solely on the tributes. Suggestions Liverpool have raised the issue of the pre-match handshakes with any of their players has caused bewilderment at Anfield.

If Luis Suárez and Patrice Evra meet again — by no means certain given the impressive debut of Alexander Buttner for United last weekend — the Uruguay striker will shake the French defender’s hand.

Liverpool have felt no need to remind the player of this as they fully expect that formality to pass without any controversy.

Commentator at the City game was banging on about how Joe Hart had modeled his game on Iker Casillas and specifically Casillas' ability to hold his nerve in one on one situations and moments later he's on his bum before Dzeko has even struck the ball :D

On that logic Liverpool fans would pay twice the going rate for one, only to let someone else borrow it. :D

Arsenal fans on the other hand would by a case for one but not be able to get hold of the actual phone to put in it :D:D

Looks like Valencia is taking up the new role of Ashley young for diving in the box

Actually arsenal are the ones who manufacturer the phone. Test it out for a bit and sell it to the average Joe for extortion price

Nope. Arsenal manufacture the phone and uses it for its joy and sells it on to some mug who will get ripped off.
