I just wonder if this whole thing about who could follow Fergie might just be a different sort of challenge his ego would thrive on. What would concern me though is his defensive mindset as that goes against what United have always done.

I really don't understand that tag. At Chelsea they often scored a lot of goals, yes they were good at the back but also good going forward. At Real they have scored over 100 goals I believe in the league so he is not too defensive!

Mid table - we're top of the league (well the red card one)

our goal difference may save us, but I have a feeling we may need 4 points, which means beating Stoke at home and getting a point at City or Chelsea (a big ask from the team with the worst away record but you never know!)

It's so tight it's amazing - the last 15 minutes today were quite tortuous, but anoher great game for us at LR. One more like that and we 'may' be good - I still think out best chance is Bolton losing their games as opposed to us winning lots. If we do beat Stoke, it would mean Blackburn would need to win 2 and at least draw the other (assuming we lost to Chelsea and city) so be above us - a big ask but again not impossible. Wigan I think will stay up and they are of course playing Blackburn - so clearly neither can get maximum points.

Anyway, too many permutations, but I think if we get 4 points from 3 games we will be safe, if we get 3 it will be interesting!

I have a feeling you may be right. Problem now is that the is an air of expectation which can only add to the pressure.

my prediction for the 3 to go down are exactly as the table lies right now...

Wolves, Bolton, Blackburn.

i think Liverpool will manage to beat the drop with King Kenny at the helm :naughty:

i think if anyone else were to get dragged in it will be Villa.. not QPR or Wigan. Agbonlahor is out.. they have nothing up front.

Looks like Young's on the bench. Put your scorecards away they'll be no diving competitions as yet.

we don't need Young today... we've got Gibson and Stepover Phil to assist us

Iffy first half from United - Everton getting through far too often for my liking.

I wouldn't worry Phil, everton scored first last week too before they crumbled, I would assume the same will happen today.

Snigger.

Well, I am surprised at that result. Just goes to show what happens when young isn't on there to dive about.

That was the outcome I was hoping for. Just watch city throw it away later, I have a few bets on this double this weekend with united drawing and city drawing, losing and winning so looks like I'll be quids in whatever happens later.

What are you actually talking about?

Don't even try and figure it out :D

Horrible result for United. We really did need all 3 points today.

City will turn Wolves over later to close the gap to 3 points and it's not unlikely that they will beat us at the begging bowl to go top with two to play and a far superior goal difference.

Asuming City do win later - a win against Everon would have kept the gap to 5 and the Derby may not of mattered.

Seriously, don't bother trying to keep up with him ... should be called Hedge. Every prediction is countered by some twisted smug satisfaction that he will be a WINNOR every time, even when his prediction is wrong.

and before you say it Joe, I'm not going to trawl through all your posts to justify my post :D

I wouldn't have made it quite so cutting but that does pretty much sum up how Joe works on here.

There's a lot of why United should easily do this and that which results in no credit or delight if they don't, mixed with the opposite for Liverpool.

I've said on more than one occasion that he should be a politician LOL

Spot the sore losers today :razz:

Well I actually just calculated my bets and I have a fiver on two draws today which would bring me £137. So I've decided that I'll be hoping for a draw later!

I thought I had a bet on united drawing and city winning. But I don't.

I only have £1 on a united draw and a city loss which will only bring in £59.

Come on wolves! Let's get a draw.

That's just sensible, either way today I'll be a happy man - as long as Liverpool win the outcomes will be either-

1.

Liverpool above everton
United only 2 points clear at the top

2.

Liverpool above everton
£59 in my pocket

3

Liverpool above everton
£137 in my pocket

You don't have to be a politician to work out that one

:D

On a related note I assume the giant wooden puppet that's been in the news parading around Liverpool this weekend will be pulling on a number 9 shirt at Anfield this afternoon

Nice one Paul :D

Whatever the result Joe, we still love you and we're not sore ;)

C'MON WOLVES

Do I want a shock Wolves win this afternoon? I'm still undecided whether I want the title decided before we go to the Etihad on the last day.

On one hand, with everything to play for, City will put out their best team and throw everything at us.

However, with nothing to play for, they could be more relaxed and they'd be under no pressure.

So what's new there :D

What can I say? I'm just a happy sole

Also, nice partial quote there to try and prove your point. I'll fill it in for you.

If Liverpool don't win. And city do then I've little to be happy about as I won't even have money in my pocket or be above everton.

See now I am miserable. Liverpool are losing and there is no money in my pocket.

Kenny must stay - Progress LOL

Yet, strangely, everyone else is happy! :D
Everyone? Are man u fans happy
in the context it was originally posted, yes

Losing 2 goal leads, twice, is a sickener though. Crickey, to cheer myself up I nearly went delving through history to see when Liverpool last had nearly half the points of United at this stage of a season (despite them supposedly improving upon recent years )
