Anyone else think the 'headbutting' incident yesterday, the 'victim' went down a little way too easily?

I think it was a definite sending off, purely for the movement of the head in such a confrontational and violent gesture, although I don't think he actually hit him and knocked him over.

Hope United get mullered tonight :D

He certainly dropped easily enough. It did look as though Reina glanced contact on his eyebrow but I think the intent of headbutting/kicking/punching someone should warrant a red regardless of if it connects or not.

I'm another who hopes Rovers pull out something against the odds!

Agreed - total over reaction from Perch but that always seems to be the case with headbutting. Still a stupid thing for Reina to do though and deserving of a red.

As for United, I'm hoping for a win or at least to avoid defeat. Could well be tough game.

As I said above, perch was a complete pussy. Stupid move from reina, but heat of the moment from him, perch on the other hand made a conscious decision to fall over, pathetic.

As for united, I expect nothing less than a comfortable win, but let's hope I am wrong and they lose some points.

Looking like it could be 'one of those nights' so far.

Delighted with that although I'll admit I was starting to worry.

This weekend was always leaning towards City with them at home to Sunderland and us away at Blackburn so that's a double bonus. Have to say the fans played their part too.

So, 20 years ago, we introduced Giggs to what it was like to be on the losing side at Old Trafford. Do you think we should remind him on Sunday? :D

I'll give you 10p if you don't.

8 points clear would be so nice !

How about 13p - sort of Giggs related with any luck

Disappointing to see united get 3 points. But it was very easy for them, the good news is that it was a goal, assist and clean sheet for my ff team

Every cloud and all that.

I've no idea why you thought it was easy Joe (well I do really) . That was a seriously difficult game and I appreciate that it was typical of a title/relegation battle. Blackburn were resolute and it could have been very different. I really hope Blackburn stay up not least for their manager who deserves a medal for the bile he's had to endure throughout the season.

That Hanley elbow on Scholes was a real shocker though.

PS

You reminded me to check my FF team........

Average at best - Clean sheet from Krul and Simpson. A goal from Valencia and Walcott plus a clean sheet for Evans. 47 points at the moment for this week sees me drop down a place in the TP league. I might have to loose some City players at this rate.

Perch's amateur dramatics - Love Mark Hughes, but I think he has admitted his shame at going down against Montpellier a LONG time ago ... it's not a new thing and it's not only for the weakest players

Joescribbens - pinch of salt - I bit BIG time but by christ, I realise he has nothing in his REAL football dreams (none of your FF and "i predicted blah blah blah" defeat) nonsense.

20th Title - Arrogance or Achievement? We'll see :D

Never bite ;)

Joe (and I'm sure he won't me saying this) will always put United down.

Liverpool, Arsenal and United are the 3 great English clubs that have to compete with silly outside money. It would be nice to have somebody other than United keeping them at bay.

Well, since you are a stats man, and the stats tell everything apparantly, let's look at some stats for the man u game:

70% possession and 14 corners for Man U compared to 30% and 2 corners for blackburn.

Sure, blackburn defended well all game, but it was wave after wave of attack from Man U the whole game, they showed no signs of tiring and it was inevitable that eventually with that many attacks they were going to score, it was coming from minute 1.

I hope that perch was watching that, scholes took that hit like a man and it was a proper broken jaw hit as well.

You don't know me from adam to know what my football dreams are or aren't.

Of course I will. Thats part and parcel of being a fan. First up celebrate your own successes and a close second is to revel in any dimise of your rival. Human nature.

Same with you and liverpool, it's to be expected. Kind of goes without saying really.

I'm not so sure

I couldn't be bothered watching the Chelsea game tonight. If they got through (which they did) I'd be chuffed but that's the end of it. Why on earth would I want demise ?

Just seen an article this morning saying that Wenger is very interested in bringing sigurdsson to the club as a lower cost, lower risk option. He must be listening to me on this forum :D Like 99% of transfer rumours it's probably rubbish though!

I was talking about Chelsea in the Champions League. Just saying that despite them being a 'rival' club I'd rather they progressed than Benfica or indeed Barcelona.

Your interpretation of Rival is different to mine.

Literally speaking chelsea are a rival for liverpool too, but they aren't a rival like man u in the way I was describing rivals.

I'm talking about the real rivalry between teams. Man U fans want liverpool to lose at every opportunity (you said it yourself) and vice versa, same with everton.

Van Persie and Tottenham
Gillingham and swindon

etc. You can't apply the same feeling against just any other team in the league like chelsea.

I cretainly don't think I hanker after Liverpool defeats in the same way you do with United. I guess it varies (for me at least) depending on how teams are peforming at that particular moment in time.

Would I want Liverpool to loose to City in the league - almost certainly not because City are more of a threat in the league.

Over the last 20 years or so there's been many times United fans have wanted Liverpool to beat the the likes of Leeds, Villa, Blackburn, Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, City etc as it's been more beneficial to United. For a Liverpool fan though I could probably count on one Finger the amount of games they'd have wated United to win even though it rarely affects their team one way or the other.

What's th story with that one then?

It goes back to a match in the year i was born where gillingham were playing swindon in the playoffs and a gills player got sent off, which the fans deemed a bad call and one of them ran onto the pitch and punched the ref in the face.

(my bro in law was at a gills game recently and met that man's granddaughter in the stands actually)

its more gillingham against swindon than the other way around. Swindon fans "apparantly" attacked the family stand at preistfield a few years ago, which didn't go down well either.

gills fans feel swindon have twice scuppered their promotion to the next league during the last few decades

We all follow the Gills
Over land and sea
We all follow the Gills
On to Victory
All together now

We hate swindon and we hate swindon,
We hate swindon and we hate swindon,
We hate swindon and we hate swindon,
We are the swindon haters....

yeah but that's because right now you are in a 20 year period where you are the successful club, so you have less to hate. Being a liverpool fan and seeing your rival acheive success makes you want them to lose more and more.

Also, I personally have even more desire to see them lose because of the other half of my family on my wifes side being man u fans and so always having to put up with their arrogance and banter makes me relish every loss that much more.

Before I met my wife I didn't have anywhere near the desire for man u to lose, it's grown stronger over the years the more abuse I have to put up with

No one has an abiliy to hold a gridge like a football fan!

That made me chuckle

heading off to barnsley tomorrow to watch west ham with the father in law - a lifelong west ham fan.

i've always had a soft spot for the hammers because my dad used to put the posters up outside the stadium when he was a nipper

Me too (soft spot that is - I never put posters up at West Ham). Have they blown automatic promotion though? They've had a strange run prior to losing to Reading with a string of draws but Reading and Southampton have opened up a bit of a gap now. Will Big Sam be able to do it?

well, my father in law thinks they are the 3rd best team so are right to be where they are and will likely face the playoffs. But the thing is the 3rd placed team rarely wins the playoffs so he's not holding out much hope

Joe this is for this weekend...I am not sure I can do the midweek fixtures but I will try, I have a busy week ahead.

Sunderland v Tottenham - Draw
Bolton v Fulham - Bolton
Chelsea v Wigan - Chelsea
Liverpool v Aston Villa - Liverpool
Norwich v Everton - Draw
