The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I've only had a quick play but finding it hard to get the angles right, or interesting.

Tell me about it. I thought they would have been pretty easy ...

Thanks guys...Had mentally tucked this away as a possible shot a long time ago, since before I got back into photography....the ravens turning up were icing on the cake.
Here's a colour one from later the same day

For me this is the best of the shots I've seen of yours. I love the light, the colour. One I could see on a wall. Excellent.

I have been admiring all you folk that have done simple/single flower shots against black backgrounds. They are so simple yet so evocative (especially the vibrant coloured ones).

I thought I would have a go myself with some black card and a couple of torches (in lieu of no OCF or strong direct sunlight)

Well, that's yet more proof that you don't need strong light, off camera flash or anything fancy (ie expensive)
I've just been trying some more using the I'll-never-use-that little flash that came with my X-H1 to add a little fill - I'll post a few pictures later.
The trouble I've been having is that dying tulips are a pain as they drop petals just as you've got everything set up..
Good stuff Stuart!

Cheers mate,
I keep meaning to pick up a couple of cheap manual flashes but something else always gets in the way.
I have learnt to paint with light in otherways and since this lock down virtually all my images I have posted have been lit with a combination of torches or a white screen app on my phone.

Have a look at these - one shows the setup, the other the result. The set up one was taken on my phone, the other has had no editing at all.
No fancy black background on this one, just careful screening of light..

This might be a bit Marmite but it's an image for my 52 challenge; 'Flora' plus a key high technique. I'm a bit annoyed that some of the highlights are blown but still quite like the effect overall.

Very nice close up Fujigraph, liking this shot very much.

George.

Thank you !

Thus is lovely, Steve, and I always enjoy seeing the behind the scenes set up. It's a reminder of what we can achieve with a few basic tools and some imagination. I have used LED torches in the past because I had nothing better and they work well. Thanks for sharing these (y)

Thank you too. As you say, a little imagination (or in my case just copying something I saw years ago) and a bit of spare time...!
I'll bore you all with another couple in a mo..

Like a lot of pictures, this looks better on flickr - I've just had a quick look at some of your other photos there - I love that beach sunset !

Thanks, Steve, that was the last evening before lockdown started here on the island so there was a sense of the sun setting on the old 'normal'.

For some reason this snap "MADE EXPLORE"

Just a simple tourist type Fujigraph take at Hythe Kent UK of a whole bunch of old Skulls & Bones in the crypt at St. Leonards Church.

One of the negatives of being in isolation, the good news is that I am a key worker so allowed to work in the office alternate weeks.

I checked the forecast last night and it looked OK for a sunrise for this morning, so I got up at 0530, jumped on my bicycle and took my daily exercise. Stopped on the way to grab this image, which has come out OK I think.

Well worth getting up for I'd say - a lovely photo!

Jim, that's an absolute cracker of a capture - you should have that professionally printed and hung proudly etc...!

Stunning Sir.

Wow! Thanks, I am thinking of getting it printed.

I appreciate there's MANY pro printing firms out there, but have a look at www.loxleycolour.com based close to Glasgow, Scotland - I've used them very often with fabulous results.
I have no connection with them.

(Just wondering was your image shot 3:2 format....?....something tells me that 16:9 possibly would have best suited)..?

Peter

Their profiles work well with Epson printers as that's what they use according to an Epson rep. Works for me on my little Expression 8500.
