The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

No idea why people are still voting on the poll, it's done and dusted and this is now the best titled thread in this category :p

Must get out and use me Foooji today, Is that sunshine I see [probably jinxed it now]

Funnily enough, with respect to the final option in the vote, I have been using my 5diii again recently and while I’ve been using Fuji for some years now and the X-T3 is a joy to handle, FF and decent Canon glass does enable some very nice images to be created

You can create very nice images with any set up really, you just have to know the limitations of whatever gear you're using at the time. I made some very nice images, at least in my own opinion, using tiny sensor bridge cameras in the past. Some will tell you their phone camera does as good a job, all depends on what you're going for. FF IMO is all about shallow DOF and better high ISO performance. If you mostly shoot in decent lighting, and prefer to have more in focus than not, then APSC is on par besides.

There's definitely a case for FF in certain circumstances. I enjoyed it when I used FF for 4-5 years, but when I switched back to APSC I didn't miss it near as much as I expected to. When I was shooting FF though I was shooting late night gigs and shows and also doing the odd wedding. It was when I stopped all of that I knew I didn't really need it, but I wouldn't write off giving it another go. I wouldn't mind trying a Sony A7III for a while for example, it's the lenses I would want to match that are the issue for me.

Yes but it is easily unpickable
:)

but I don't know if it has contacted anything catching, we don't want a sick E3.

I had to read that twice, it wasn't until thrice, I realised that it didn't actually say Fujifool :p

Hang around here for a couple more days and we will convert you to a Fujiholic, get your purse ready :)
I've just recently bought an EOS M for macro, I'm not likely to be a brand traitor :p

I always fancied a strap in Fujifilm branding, the green, white and red. Not seen one though.
You might be able to find one from the old days of Fujica film cameras. My Canon strap is actually from my mum's old A1 which was sold years ago.

Just a simple Fujigraph taken at Dungeness Kent UK a couple of the many old boats and things scattered about the beach that have just been left behind.
I'm also working on a personal project called Things Left Behind and this will be one of the shots included.

X-H1, 10-24mm Lens, 1/800th @ F8, ISO-200, Handheld.

Just a head's up, I can't remember who was looking for one in here recently, but it's up for grabs for any Fujifilm owner - there's a fringer pro Fx-EF AF adapter in classified for only £150, I wouldn't even be sharing that if I didn't already own one myself. Cracking adapter, and perfect for anyone straddling between Canon and Fuji

I recently purchased the Viltrox EF-FX2 to have Canon Lenses on my Fuji’s...... Then low and behold i’ve purchased a Mint Canon 80D with only 1500 actuations.... now I’m looking for Canon Lenses too.......

Good find (y)
My main camera is a 7DII (crop if you aren't familiar with the brand)
The 70-200 2.8 is a good one, as is the 10-400 4.5 / 5.6
The MKII versions are the best in both, of course it depends on how deep your pockets are :D
The Canon 100 2.8 macro is a nice lens, it can be a bit soft but "Sharpens nicely"
All my recent Macro's are taken with that lens.
Walkabout I'd recommend the 24-105 f/4 ...

... sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here....

@Cobra .....

I’d already purchased the Canon 100mm f2.8 L Macro, again mint.

:jawdrop: That's some zoom! :p

I'm using the fringer pro on the XH1 and the cheapy but very good 55-250 STM, I keep threatening to bump that to something like the very lovely 200mm 2.8, but Id not say no to a 100-400 at a fraction of the cost of Fuji's - pity it would be white though :hungover: The 55-250 punches well above it's price range though, and I really love it's close focus and magnification [85cm, 1:3] you just don't get that with many cheap tele lenses around the 250mm mark - it's also as sharp as I need wide open

It seems I may have left "Nothing" off :D

Never tried one but they were certainly popular when they came out (y)

All the best ones are white (y)

Sadly that might be true in the case of Canon, well Sony too on the tele side. The 55-250 is very good, not just for the price but as a budget lens in general for that focal range. It also doubles for me as a pretty solid macro option with a Raynox 250 slapped on the end. Set it to 100mm and I have 1:1 macro, this increases with zoom, you can get silly close up at 250mm

It also allows for creamy bokeh for general close ups without any attachment, was lucky to catch these at such a slow SS .... :D

Starting to get used to the difference between this X-E3 and my staple D810. Raws take a fair bit more work than I'm used to especially as I can't process them in camera raw. (as I'm still on CS6) I've been using raw therapee which seems to do a good job.

Anyone using their XT3 (or other) for video?

Aside from testing my D750 for about 20 secs when new, have never used a DSLR for video. But with the very quiet AF am tempted to give this a try. Any tips if so for settings etc...

I’ve got a great tip, don’t do it, it’s a world of pain and the files are huge lol

No harm in giving it a try, really depends on what kind of video you plan to shoot - if it's just casual family stuff, then it's a cinch, if it's complex 4K where you plan to edit and colour grade in post - well ... then you'd already be a video nerd and no need for us to give tips :D but yeah, video is really simple if you want it to be. I know naff all about video editing or production, but I've shot a bunch using the XH1 and found it really good. Of course I have the benefit of IBIS which does help a lot for video, but you can use a tripod, or if you have any OIS lenses - with practice, there's nothing too hard about it. 24fps, set your shutter speed to 48, either use an ND or stop down the aperture to get the light right and hit record. On a bright day you're going to be at lowest ISO, but even indoors don't be afraid to bang it up. High ISO doesn't look near as bad in video, you'd get away with ISO 3200-6400 much easier, because video is moving, we don't notice noise near as much.

Almost everything that can be written about the T and H cameras are relevant one to the other, and certainly interesting to both sets of users. In fact the number of users that own both is surprising.
In large threads like this and the comparable Sony one, the "Search" function is invaluable in finding the answer to specific issues that might be "Lost" in the depth of the tread... That of course is its purpose.

I totally agree with you. I kept my X-T1 when I bought my X-H1 and it’s a PITA having to go to two threads. After all the X-H1 is basically an improved X-T2 in a more ergonomic body.

The owner of my regular camera store is retiring on Sunday, the shop is then becoming part of the Wilkinson's chain. Over the last few years I've run a number of workshops for them, so I thought I'd print an image from 2017 as a retirement present for him. He can hang it in his villa in Portugal!!! (taken in Miniature Mode on X100F, printed FS A3 Platinum Cotton - Canon Pro1000)

I used to have a Sony HXR5 broadcast camera, only 1080hd not UHD and a 2 minute video rendered to 480 used to take about 1hr to process to mp4, video is still slow, no matter what you use.
