The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

These deals only ever occur when I'm broke ...

On the 35mm, have you tried introducing bounced flash? lower ISO, see does this ghosting or glare occur?

Brilliant deal :)

I've been pondering on the grip. But when I had one for the Nikon I found I rarely used it, that was already a bulky camera though.
it doesn't look like a very good grip i don't see the point of it really its like a little lip on the bottom. I probably sell it. The deal is very good if the deal is on again next year ill use the trade in deal for the xt2 i can't image i'd lose much.

Suddenly all those used X-T1s don't seem such good value when you can buy a new one for £479.
that was the plan all alone just the body and the 27mm then at the last minute i panicked and got the 18-55 too :)

The plan was to sell all the stuff to fund the xt1 this hasnt happened i now have 4 cameras. The mrs is gonna kill me! i'll soften her up with a new laptop.

Oh, I thought it was the portrait/battery grip

@snerkler I was just thinking on the softness side too, flash tends to give sharper images per aperture/ISO, and bounced light might counter this phenomena you experience with the plastic
It would have definitely sharpened up the shot of the Olympus lens, but very much doubt it'd have fixed the other two shot as the focus was well off, and I think it's this that's causing the ghosting as it's the OOF areas that are demonstrating the phenomenon. Obviously, different bokeh (in this case ghosting) is not an issue if it's not the area of focus (or at least the area you focussed on) as it's not an issue with the olympus lens. You can see that the Olympus lettering is starting to show the ghosting but not an issue in this case. Again, I'm not sure how flash would have helped the original Stormtrooper Lego? It's not a lack of sharpness per se, it's a focus error imo.

I'll try the bounced flash just for you benefit though ;) :p

Thanks Alan. David has posted a long reply to a thread I started asking for info. I'll read it in more detail tomorrow but he's talking of a TP meet in there in January. That could be fun!

Count me in for that

So are we any the wiser re: double cashback yet? Has anyone else managed to get to the page from the @architectfadi screenshot and clicked the qualifying products link to confirm it's now £80/£160/£250?

Prices are still dropping regardless, 10-24 now down to £699 (before cashback) at Digital Depot, who have also reduced the X-T10, X-T1, X-Pro2 etc.
Would the cash back still be honoured if purchased grey though?

Where is the cheapest place to buy the x-t10?
I'm searching everywhere to try and find the best place...
Can't seem to get IMAGING50 to work on currys site or that could have been a good deal. £50 off plus £160 cashback.

I can't find it for £259 it's £450 everywhere body only - £160 cashback making it £290

Digital Depot supply UK stock and are on the list of Qualifying retailers.
Noted. At £90 cheaper, that's not a bad (further) saving again.

I see they're selling the 35mm f2 at £265 also.

Has anyone used them? A reputable retailer?

DO! :D I'm betting it'll improve things
Wrong :p (at least as far as the focus issue) 100% crops, SOOC jpeg ISO 400 bounced flash

Here's the Olly lens to prove the lens is sharp

Darth Vader AF (missed focus again)

Darth Vader MF (excuse my MF skills, I'm sure you could get sharper)

When you add to basket at Digital Depot, price jumps to £829 so not £699 at all. Even with the £160 back, end price would be £669.

Assuming this is the 10-24, that's because they've now sold out of online stock and have store collection only left. I imagine Fuji stock is taking an absolute hammering today.

I've just taken the plunge i'm now a fuji x owner!

Good deal i think digital depot are doing the xt1 with the 18-55 £959 with a free £70 hand grip. £250 off with the double cashback = £709. Thats the xt10 body lens price on a normal day i'm very happy.

It looks as though you can still receive the trade in bonus too if i was more prepared.

"Congratulations" Robert, a fine piece of kit. Looking forward to seeing some of your work with it.(y)

George.

One of the first from my new locality. Taken with the X-T2 plus 10-24. Well Hill steps in Settle - horses and cattle used to drink from the well. There were three in a row the first for washing, second for animals to drink from and third for people to draw water.

Which one? I think we're all agreement that the olympus lens would be better with lower ISO (I said this in my initial post), but as far as it missing focus on the shiny plastic the second shot proves that it's nothing to do with ISO and/or the use of flash, it just struggles to AF on shiny plastic. Even my crappy MF is way better than the AF'd shot ;)

Digital depot have sold out of the xt1 and 18-55 bundle. I'm glad i got in early!
Having just spoken to them, they wont be able to offer the next stock of lenses at the prices they had on today. :(

They may have just made a mistake and taken them down. The pre order price is back up to £1049.

Ah so that's no good then? I haven't tied yet.

Are people buying from Amazon then?

Presumably because stock won't be available until after the promotion.

Are digital depot decent?

Used them a couple of times, no problems. Proper UK store and qualify with Fuji, so should be fine.

Thank you!!

I'll have a look at that site!

I've used them on and off for about 13 years. They have a bricks-and-mortar presence. Very good to deal with.

Perhaps :D

Bummer..............

My brand new X-T2 just arrived from Calumet and I think it's DOA.

I've charged the battery, inserted it, got the "set language" and "set the time and date" prompt, and when I click OK, all I get is an error on screen that says "TURN OFF THE CAMERA AND TURN ON AGAIN".

I've tried taking the battery out, re-seating the lens, charging the battery further but all to no avail.

Anyone had this before and does it mean the camera is FUBAR ?

Does it respond if you hold Disp Back down whilst it is booting, should display Firmware version, etc.

David,

Here's what it says when I do as you asked

Here's the error when I turn it on normally

I have noticed however that if I unseat the lens slightly, it seems to work (well there's no error on screen and I can change shutter speed etc.) I don't currently have another lens, so do you think it might just be a faulty lens or still the body ?

Just noticed that you F0 showing, it suggests that the lens is not providing the right info to the camera, when you have the lens just unseated, Like a legacy lens. But in the picture above it shows F2.8, which suggests it does talk but it is in error state. in F0 the camera will not fire unless you select shoot without a lens option in menus.

Still doesn't help as to whether lens or camera though. Could be a faulty lens, could be a camera with a faulty connector.

I'd visit a local shop and try a different lens.
