The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

EDIT: sorry, I totally misread your post. Are other retailers much cheaper then?

Yes across the board. In fact the Jessops 'deals' are pretty terrible if the double cashback is genuine...

23mm 1.4: Jessops = £629, Amazon = £529
16-55mm 2.8: Jessops = £649, Argos = £599

I still don't believe it though, this will comfortably take some of this glass down to its lowest ever UK price if correct.

Crikey. That Argos price for a 16-55mm is surprisingly low, no?

Yep, but why is that my issue? I'm used to shooting macro so don't understand why the min focus distance is an issue as to whether the focus area is sharp?

A couple of points - obviously DOF at f/1.4, for close ups is wafer thin (you know that anyway). But if the focus is even ever so slightly off, it's going to look naff. Also, if you are not in the center portion of the frame, I'm assuming there is going to be a greater fall off in image quality.

Here's a couple I just took a minute ago at near on MFD (focused on the light):

This one has a rounded eye, and as such, some of it looks naff as the DOF is too shallow:

I imagine Jessops site is already displaying the double cash back whereas the Fuji site will only display it once it's actually available (ie from tomorrow).

The max cash back on the 16-55mm would thus be £250 (ie double £125).

EDIT: sorry, I totally misread your post. Are other retailers much cheaper then?

£649 for a 16-55mm looks pretty reasonable?!

I don't think it's that great. I bought from Currys last weekend at £849 but with 10% Quidco Cashback and £125 cash back from Fuji. Net result a bit cheaper I think. Other retailers may work out cheaper with this deal in which case I'll go for a return!

Are we 100% sure that the double cash back is without the need to buy a body??? Amazon TC's say you need to buy with a body!

I see WEX are showing double cashback for Black Friday on their Fuji lenses (on the detail page for each lens). It's not yet Black Friday so it might be worth being careful lest the Fuji t&cs make it for purchases from/on 25 Nov. Cameracentreuk will have a stonking price on the 90mm f2 - it's already £689, but with £160 cashback it will be a brill deal tomorrow.

I was 100% sure that this is the case but it is not mentioned on WEX's website. It is only showing £250 cashback on the 50-140 for example. I m calling WEX in the morning to double check ;)

Hmmm, order now (it's the 25th!) before stock is decimated and just cancel if it turns out to be false...or hang on?!

Awful lot of retailers now suggesting full double cashback on all the lenses that had cashback with no other qualifiers, but they all link to T&Cs of what is/was the existing 'single' cashback offer.

Still showing single cashback for me.

I'm not seeing that page, is the qualifying products link showing £80/£160/£250 now instead of the old values?

Either way I've put it an order on Amazon, nothing to lose as returns are quick and easy.

I may have to get a Fuji XT-10 to take advantage of the cash back offer and send my 50-140 + EC back to Amazon UK.

Can you claim for as many lenses as possible but Fuji only allow 3 cash back submissions or can you only claim the cash back on 3 items in total?

Why would you buy a body when you don't need to though? [emoji53]

So are we any the wiser re: double cashback yet? Has anyone else managed to get to the page from the @architectfadi screenshot and clicked the qualifying products link to confirm it's now £80/£160/£250?

Prices are still dropping regardless, 10-24 now down to £699 (before cashback) at Digital Depot, who have also reduced the X-T10, X-T1, X-Pro2 etc.

I don't need it but you need to buy a body to take advantage of the double cash back prices!
When you factor it all in, I'd be getting the body for free...... so will just sell it on ;)

Nothing that suggests that at the moment aside from old cashback deals.

As I said before, you don't need to purchase a body to qualify for the double cash back though. Most retailers are advertising it now with no hint of this and nothing on Fuji to say so either.

I'm sure they'll happily take your money though ;)

Prices are still as per normal cashback. The double cashback is in the terms an conditions for a short period starting today until the 5th of December.

This is what I would assume, the words Selected Lenses, I would take to be that not all lenses are available for cashback anyway eg 23mm f2
Exactly that. Only some are listed as cashback anyway, notably the two f2's are missing (which would probably be the most popular I'm guessing!).

Looking forward to my £529 23mm 1.4 arriving tomorrow courtesy of Amazon :)

Trying to resist an X-T10 for £259, almost seems rude not to!

They both look fine to me, and what I would expect. Here's what I have been referring to. These are all 100% crops.

Here I focussed on the 16 of the lens markings and as you can see it's reasonably sharp (ISO was 2500 so some sharpness lost).

With this the red arrow show where I focussed, and the yellow ones show where I think is sharpest in focus.(Yes I made sure there was no overlap of the focus point ;))

With this the red shows where I focussed, and I can't see anything that's sharp.

As I said, this only seemed to occur with plastic figures, everything else was as expected. Dunno why it struggles with plastic figures. I'm going to try it with the 18-55mm at some point to see if it's a lens thing or an XT1 thing. Obviously it will be far less noticeable with the smaller aperture of the 18-55mm so not sure if it will show any focussing errors or not.

I've just taken the plunge i'm now a fuji x owner!

Good deal i think digital depot are doing the xt1 with the 18-55 £959 with a free £70 hand grip. £250 off with the double cashback = £709. Thats the xt10 body lens price on a normal day i'm very happy.

It looks as though you can still receive the trade in bonus too if i was more prepared.

These deals only ever occur when I'm broke ...

On the 35mm, have you tried introducing bounced flash? lower ISO, see does this ghosting or glare occur?

Brilliant deal :)

I've been pondering on the grip. But when I had one for the Nikon I found I rarely used it, that was already a bulky camera though.

I didn't as it was only a quick test. However, when I originally noticed it I was outdoors at 200 ISO. Also, if it was a high ISO issue then all of my test shots would have demonstrated it, not just those on plastic figures.

Suddenly all those used X-T1s don't seem such good value when you can buy a new one for £479.

Tell me about it, I only bought mine used a few weeks ago for €550 [£470-ish] To be fair, it was 'mint' and I got 5 batteries and 2 chargers, so not bad. I did well on the lenses used also. They will all fetch same value when/if selling on either way.

Correct and WEX had 67 of them! lol :D

Still have 65! I think pretty much across the board used Fuji gear is currently more expensive than new.

@snerkler I was just thinking on the softness side too, flash tends to give sharper images per aperture/ISO, and bounced light might counter this phenomena you experience with the plastic
