The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Will you lot stop listing stuff in the classifieds? There's an X-T1 there now, just flaunting it's dials... Shameful!

Rofl. As if.

Going to add the 18mm to my collection i think and i reckon I'm gonna try another 35 aswell.

Is true, not quite £100 worth imo but spraying anything in multiple layers with special paint takes longer and costs more than a single layer of colour.

Really? What a load of crap. Why would it need more layers? Wouldn't the paint be pre mixed?

In order, Yes, really, no, not crap, because it gives an effect you cant achieve with a single layer and finally its different layers NOT a single colour!

+1 on the 35mm I'm sorry I sold mine it's a super lens, but 35mm on a crop isn't a focal length I use a lot.

Not me, once you've had black you never go back...

Oh yeah, my X-E1 is silver... :D
LOL yeah that was me once upon a time, then I bought an X100S and realised silver is kinda cool, brought me back to my Zorki 4K days, my first camera .But then my first "serious" camera was a black Canon A1.

cant believe how sharp the 50-140 is, took a little walk today and these are straight out of the camera, exposure is slightly off as a was messing around with settings but first proper photos i have taken with the x-t1

just cant get over how sharp that lens is compared to my sigma 17-50 on my 60d!

How could they have an XT-10 in,its not out yet

That's what I thought, but there was an XT-10-sized gap on the shelf with a ticket under it, and that's what he said! He did get a couple of other things wrong, though, so...

Morning, (that's bound to be wrong at least 50% of the time)
I have a thread on the beginners forum about a second camera needed, I shall also possibly put this in the Olympus thread as well if I'm allowed... I don't know if the Fuji bunch are allowed to speak to the Olympus bunch.
Just a quick one as I think I can bore people with my waffle.
The short version is I'm looking for a second camera, Quality, portability and presentation are the key features.
I do not want massive lenses, just maybe 3 around the 18mm, 23mm and 35mm range or thereabouts.
The two cameras I am considering are the Fuji X-T1 and the Olympus E-M5 MkII.
The Fuji is sexy, as well as being a quality camera but the E-M5 MkII is also a good camera.

I have not laid hands on either as I have no decent stockist nearby.
I just wondered if any of you X-T1 owners have any advice that could sway me either way.

Thank you for any help or advice you are willing to offer.

Yeah, don't buy an Olympus...;)

Go to a shop and try both, I never did but was set on the Fuji from the moment I decided to switch from Canon.

Fuji do offer primes in all of your focal requirements which may help...I'm sure both systems have their positives and their downfalls it's just which suits YOU best.

When you say you want a second camera do you mean to sit alongside another system? Will it be used at the same time or something more portable to use separately?

I was changing from the Xpro-1 and considering my options and I thought that M4/3 would be best for me. I went to my local shop and compared the original EM5 and the XT1, for me, the ViewFinder of the XT1 was far superior along with the button layout and size of buttons, the EM5 was to small for me. Also, as I was used to Fuji coming from the Xpro-1, I prefered the menus system of Fuji, the Olympus seemed like hard work to me. How the Mk2 version compares I haven't tried.

As mentioned above, go and try them all out and see which you find best. It was the XT1 for me.

for an idea of size go back a page and there is a picture of my new gear, the 27 is actually on the xt1 in the image, looks like a lens cap tbh

Totaly seperate Tim, I'm after a system very light weight, small in scale for when I leave the beast at home.
I want it for holidays and trips, But I want quality.

Not gonna lie, I love the field of view from it. A nice walk about lens and focuses quick enough. It's cheap too

You will get quality from fuji mate, they don't make a bad lens... Unless someone can correct me on that?

Only just got to have a play with the 27mm. It seems to vibrate when focussing, is that normal?

Not being a Fuji user, I can't comment with any certainty but I would suggest not. a lens vibrating does not sound good.

Is it connected correctly?

Is it struggling to focus? or locking on quickly?
If it's struggling to focus because of low light, could this be it?
Does it stop when you acquire focus?

Again, I'm no expert on Fuji and by no means am I questioning the quality of their lenses but I do know that the Canon 50mm f1.8 can rattle like a machine gun when that struggles to lock on.
