The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Smashing cricket shots David and i have to agree with @ukaskew no6 is the standout shot. It works even better when viewed with the sequence you have on flikr

Thanks Steve. Although i prepare cricket grounds for a living, the game has never really interested me and i have never shot it either. It's @damianmkv fault as he made me venture to Papplewick looking for a damn tree in a rapeseed field! The light wasn't in my favour for that shot so after i'd heard the clatter of ball on bat i thought i'd go and investigate. Only spent about half an hour there i think but i left reasonably happy. Yes a longer lens would be ideal, but seeing as the 1**-400 isn't available yet, i just made do. Roll on the TC!

Sorry about that :( the cricket ground is just across the way from that tree isn't it ?

The Fuji's ability to track appears much better than the Olympus

 No need to be sorry mate, i enjoyed it! Yes, the tree is opposite. So after i made a mess of that shot i thought i better change tact. :D

The tracking is pretty good, especially with the 50-140. Having said that, they were mostly on the same focal plance so perhaps not the hardest test for it. Hardly a BIF coming towards you. I thought the new firmware for the E-M1 was good?

Yep - it's not a bad lens really, great detail just not snappy enough

I wonder if it will be? I wonder if they'll leave the AF as is for the time being, reason being if they give the XT-10 the same whistles and bells internally as the X-T1 then it's got a chance of taking sales from it.

All supposition and I guess there's factors involved, how far off X-Pro2 is, how much profit Fuji make from each model and whether they can get away with current AF given its supposed 'limitations'.

No real substance to this, just thinking aloud.

The X-T10 comes with the new AF system with 3d tracking (y)

Thought I would share this from a few weeks ago, entered it into POTY for April so couldn't post until now.

Taken with the X-T1 and my old Minolta MD 50mm really pleased with it and I managed joint first place for this month :)

Thanks David, just walking off the field at Castlerigg when I spotted the mist and the light on the sheep. I managed some good images with the old minolta

@fabs Yeah I forgot that you ran the POTY comp Marc and it wasnt until later when it dawned on me and I was worried I would have been disqualified

Nah, you were fine, I obviously already new which one was yours.

I've sold the OM10 and a couple of lenses but have kept the 50mm so am looking forward to some fun with it.

Does anyone here use Scoop It? Seems to be a blog/article aggregator with a few good Fuji specific streams. Never heard of it until I started getting a ton of traffic through it, some interesting stuff on it that I've never seen elsewhere including a very detailed scientific test on the Electronic Shutter that confirms the 1/15 capture speed regardless of the given shutter speed.

I stumbled across it a while back.... Here's the link for anyone interested. Lots of good Fuji content http://www.scoop.it/t/fujifilm-x-pro1-x-e1-x100s

Am about to jump into the XT-1fold from being a Nikon shooter for the last decade. Done lots of research and realise that it's Fuji for me after comparing other manufacturers. Just need to sell off my gear now, I can't wait [emoji2]. Gonna plumb for the 18-135 and 10-24 just to start with. Also gonna get a Contax adapter to fit all my old lenses from my film days. Any thoughts anyone?

I picked up an X-T1 with 18-135 a couple of weeks ago form the fuji refurb store - all my Nikon kit is already gone.
Much prefer the Fuji for handling and the colours are very nice. Find it a lot more convenient that lugging around a mid range D-SLR.
- couldn't be happier that i made the change, and the upcoming firmware sounds like it put it on par with the D-SLR for action too (which is the only downside compared to an SLR - but as i don't shoot those things often, not a major concern).

I would suggest looking at the 23 or 35 primes, as they are superb.

other than the ISO dial, and a slightly different design - why would you buy an X-T1? ( I have one, so it's slightly irrelevant, but am interested what Fuji's strategy might be on this??)

Larger viewfinder and weather sealing?

Well its close but I think the major differences are the build quality and weathproofing

The viewfinder and weather sealing are presumably the big costs that are being cut. The X-T1 viewfinder really is immense, feels very weird using a different camera occasionaly.

Would have to agree that the X-T1 viewfinder is superb - It's the only time i've found a EVF that to my eye is as good as an optical one - in fact the advantages actually end up making it far more useful and the handling way ahead of an DSLR!

Is the build quality really likely to "feel" that different - the weather sealing i get.... to a point.

Probably not too different, the other non WR bodies from Fuji feel pretty nice as they are still metal. Most of the WR work is things like seals and gaskets that you don't really see or feel.

Hmmm... Kinda put me off now. It does look a lot cheaper than the X-T1.

And i know they said it was a 'pre-production version' that may not have the final edition of the new AF firmware but it didn't look anything like it did on the promo video from Fuji showing it on the X-T1. Fingers crossed it's more like we were initially promised.
