The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

In all honesty how are the batteries on this as people saying they are poor and have to charge every night? Roughly how many images can we get out of one charge?

Would that be the same rating for the X-E2

One more from the Arc de Triomphe:

Again another excellent image. Do you shoot raw or jpeg and much processing pls?

Very usage dependent. Shooting at motorsport events where the camera is left on all day with shots being fired very, very frequently I can comfortably manage 1000 shots. Shooting a wedding I was changing my batteries every 300 shots (as soon as it dropped to two bars) because they fall off a cliff when they do go.

I would say an average of 500 photos per battery, personally, that's using the EVF, no flash and occasionally reviewing images.

So does the EVF use more than the live screen. Is poor battery down to small battery or the camera.

I believe the EVF is more of a battery hog owing to the higher resolution. Mirrorless cameras inherently use more juice because they are almost entirely electrically operated, obviously with a DSLR you're using an optical viewfinder, so power drain when it's just left switched on is fairly negligible, but with mirrorless you always need a powered view of some kind, add smaller batteries (due to smaller camera bodies) and you have a perfect storm.

Don't they power off or go in energy save mode when not using it period of time?

They do power off, but you really need to be carrying spares with you if you want to guarantee getting a shot at any given time. In other words the same as every digital camera I have owned. If I'm taking a camera somewhere that photography is important to me I've always had spare batteries with me. An extra couple of Ex-Pro batteries doesn't add much to the sytem cost and they take up very little space in the bag.

Edit to ad: I've rarely used a second battery when I'm out and about as I don't tend to shoot hundreds at a time. But I always have a couple of spare batteries and cards just in case.

Same here always carry a few spares, battery & cards :)

Thanks Ian and Chris. Much appreciated, good to know. I will only have one WA so want to get it right. I guess the 14 is a good all rounder. The wider apertures don't interest me really for a wide angle lens so f2.8 is fine for what i need.

On the subject of batteries, for a full days shooting, followed by an evening shoot. Four batteries will cover it with the camera in constant use. A battery change is quick enough but I prefer one in the body, the other in the grip. Primarily to aid handling. Beware of early XT-1 grips. The port door had a habit of unlocking and swinging open breaking the electrical contact, thus plunging you camera into a world of darkness at the most inappropriate moment.

Never used more than 2 batteries in a day's shoot. Go through many more memory cards per shoot than batteries. Battery life much better than Sony A7 IME.

Another great shot. Is that look telling you its the last shot of the session?

Fantastic shot again off camera flash too I guess God knows how u get images like that of her as my daughter do silly smiles lol

Had to pick my self off the floor then pal :p

Very good that is... TO get that high Shutter speed do we need any extra setting turn on in menu???

Once it Enable do we how do we select the higher seed with the dial at the top?? Sorry about the questions..

Out of curiosity when you buy an xt1 do you have to install all firmware updates or can you go from 1.0 to 4.0? I presume you need to do them all?

I shoot in aperture priority too, so I don't know. Needed the electronic shutter with how bright it was today. As for the colours that's the LR Classic chrome profile.
