The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I have the X-T3 and the 18-55 kit lens. I'm going to trade in for an X-T5, I'm not sure whether to go for the body only or trade the lens in too for a 16-80, Worth the extra for that lens?

All thoughts, advice very much welcomed.

Usually there's quite a big discount on the body/lens combo. Check the difference between them. Worst case scenario, you can always sell either of the lenses at a later stage, depending on which one you favoured.
 
Thanks Paulie, you're right, I was considering the combo, but if the advice is to go for the 16-80, I'd just prefer to let the old lens go.

Just tried to update my X100VI confirmed copied to card, camera says "NEW FIRMWARE NOT BE FOUND. TURN OFF CAMERA".
Tried with two Sandisc cards?

EDIT. The download should read FPUPDATE.DAT when downloaded read FPUPDATE(1.0)DAT
Got rid of the (1.0), tried again and now all's fine! Never done that before with various other Fuji's.

I can't speak of how it is with the XT5 (having used it only on the XT3 and XT4), but as much as I enjoyed the 18-55, the 16-80 was a gamechanger for me, mostly for it's flexibility. I have 'better' lenses to chose from, but the 16-80 is just a great one-lens solution. A really useful range, weather sealed, brilliant stabilisation, quick and quiet focussing, and always sharp enough for my needs. Ok, I'm not shooting fast action indoors with it, obviously, and everyone's needs are different, but for me it's the one lens that keeps me with Fuji.

Happens to me all the time, and as soon as I see the brackets, I delete it and then go on a hunt for the old one. Delete that and start again :ROFLMAO:

If you're considering a new lens, as a kit is certainly the time to buy it. You could try borrowing one from Fuji on their free 48 hour test drives. The other option would be the new 16-50 kit lens, which is supposed to be sharper than the 16-80 if you are going to a 40MP sensor.
 
Can anyone tell me why I am struggling to post my pics from flickr on here? Same as always I go to the share photo button on flick then highlight the BB link to the photo then back into this group and paste it into this chat and preview shows box with red cross. Clicking the link to flickr show image but preview doesn.t show the image/images like it normally does before I press post reply???? Anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong!

Are they set to private or public viewing. I normally forget to change mine to public

I had the same mate. Used the same method for years. Some algorithm changes either on one side or the other. Just waiting it out until sorted.

Thanks for the reply Richard, is this setting on Flickr? Everything is public except my email so gonna change that and see if it works! Nope didn't make a difference :(

I went from the 18-55 to the 16-80 on my X-T4 and I'm very happy with it. The extra reach is very handy, and I haven't had any problems with sharpness. The weather sealing is a bonus, too.

Just had to renew Flickr for the year so wondering if that had something to do with it ?

I suppose anything is possible. But I reckon not. Gonna be one of those things that one day will mysteriously be working.
When I last posted and previewed the post the image showed fine. After posting I had red crosses.

It’s the privacy setting on the photo itself. If you look at the details under the picture it should tell you

Same thing happened to me when I posted the last pic up. Then all of a sudden it was fine. No idea as to why it happened.

Nope... But I did read a while back that those who fiddle behind the scenes, had no idea as to why it happens now and then. I always use the bb code.

Then I just paste this straight into the post I am writing, I dont use any of the options on the top of the post, insert link, insert image etc.

Always used the BB code which mostly worked. Tried the share option also and got no luck but thank you for all the help. Seems I am not the only one..

Still a great camera, I took the Jim Broadbent photos and black and white jetty long exposure images with the X100S. See here. The X100VI is an upgrade but it comes at cost of being larger and heavier... only slightly but I notice it. I still love the old case that was available for the S-T-F cameras.
