It's a fabulous area, and I'd love to get back there again. Is the town rebuilt enough to enter now, or is it still fenced?

Is is still being rebuilt but did appear to be largely open. There is also a large area just outside the old town with several restaurants, activity businesses and gift shops. These didn't look temporary to me (more concrete than wood) and give hope the area is recovering. Throughout the area there is a lot of repair work going on. I guess the recovery funds have finally come through. Still lots of temporary accommodation in use but things do seem to be moving at least.

Yes, I've just glanced over the specs, and it looks like an A9ii competitor - significantly cheaper, and probably more modern AF system, but only 299 AF points, and ISO max 64000.
Blackout free 5760k dot EVF sounds nice.

It's a not a full stacked sensor which a9ii is. It looks to be on the same level as canon R5/6 which do have rolling shutter issues at times.
AF system is more modern but seems a wee bit gimped from Z8/9.

I still think A9ii will have an edge pure AF+tracking wise. But A7iv looks less attractive in comparison to this
 
The Nikon Z6III looks a great camera, some very interesting specs :cool: Looks like a non global shutter alternative to the A9III boasting 120fps with AE/AF and pre-capture, but £3.5k cheaper :eek:

Edit 2: Just seen the 120fps is 10mp Dx format jpeg only :rolleyes:

Wide colour Gamut and 0.8x magnification too. Is it definitely blackout free then as I couldn’t find info on this?

My grandfather had a Bedford a lot like that. IIRC the handbrake is outboard of the drivers seat, and a source of fascination to a small boy who didn't know what it did. The button wasn't hard to push in either, but fortunately my father was close enough to get there in time before it rolled any further down the (steep) hill.

No, but the A9ii has a max ISO of 204800.
While few will use cameras at max ISO, it suggests that the A9ii could have a 1-2 stop advantage in noise since it's max is ~2 stops higher.

Isn't it just gorgeous? It reminds me so much of the Kodak 36 I started with. I haven't used that camera for decades and I don't think you can get film for it any more, I do keep thinking back to that Kodak and I've liked very simple cameras ever since. I almost certainly wont get one but for the price it'd worth it for the memories of carrying that old Kodak as a boy on family days out and holidays.

I'm soooo tempted but I think for me it'd mean getting some sort of scanner too.

The z6ii is 204800, and it might be they lose the higher range to retain the lower, who knows. We'll have to see.

If I may be honest, it looks like a 'camera-like object' rather than a useful camera, and comments about premature failure somewhat confirm that instinct.
 
I think it looks great, just like my Instamatic 36 but those reviews do maybe point to it being a piece of tat. What a shame. Like so many things these days it could maybe benefit from being made by a company who cares and with some QC and feedback.

Old manual lenses again :D

I've not really been using my film era lenses so I've been thinking of selling them. I keep changing my mind as I wont get much for them so should I keep them to enjoy once in a blue moon or sell them? I'll have to decide. For now I've been thinking about what are the most interesting film era lenses to me and I decided that although I mostly like 35mm the film era 35mm's aren't all that interesting as they're mostly f2.8 apart from the Rokkor f1,8 I have and none are as good as the Sony mount Voigtlanders I have. So, I decided that the 50mm f1.x's are the most interesting so I've decided to keep some of them even if the rest do get sold on and of the 50's it'll be the f1.7/8's rather than the f1.4's that I'll keep. I thought it might be a good idea to have a wider lens so that I can take a 50 and something wider and I think I've settled on 28mm as that focal length is a bit more interesting as a partner to a 50mm than a 35mm.

Minolta Rokkors have been about my favorite film era lenses and I have a mk1 35mm f2.8 and mk2 55mm f1.7 MC's and all the rest are MD Rokkors. I didn't have any of the mk3 MC's or any of the last Minolta lenses which dropped the Rokkor. As I've never had a mk3 MC I decided to get a 28mm f2.8 and a 50mm f1.7 which I will keep and the MD's may go. I received a nice 28mm f2.8 MC mk3 but the 50mm f1.7 I received was really badly out in the BRHS so it went back and today I received another which is ok.

100% from that. It was handheld and there was a bit of a breeze and it's just before MFD so I'm happy enough.

That last one is sharp on my screen and overall I'm happy with the performance of this lens and in fact I'd say it's better that the TTA 50mm f2 but of course it has to be used with an adapter.

I'll have to have a think now what to do. I'm going to keep the Minolta Rokkor mk1, 2 and these mk3's and the Vivitar 28mm f2 I bought recently in Nikon mount together with either the Nippon Kogaku 50mm f2 or f1.4 or maybe both and a couple of Zuiko's, the 50mm f1.8 and probably the 28mm f2.8. All the rest and all my Canon FD's may go or I might file them away for the day I'm super bored and want to play with them again.

Unfortunately I'm tied to the house for a few days but I may get some free time one evening to give these two mk3 MC's a try out.

I'd say to keep a few you especially like, flog the rest, then buy more that you've not tried already. That way you have a stream of new kit arriving every so often, but don't accumulate too much.

Mrs WW wants a car when she comes home which will mean my MX5 going. I might change my diesel Evoque for a newer petrol one.

And... I never thought it'd be so difficult to find someone to valet my three cars. I've had two no shows now. I did say they could do one at a time or all three whatever they wanted. I suppose they just like other tradesmen at the mo, you never know if they'll turn up or not.

Would be a shame to lose the MX5 after having it for so long.

Can’t offer any advice on SUV’s really as they aren’t my bag.

Borrowed my wee brothers motor this evening so I could bring my daughter and her boyfriend to their school formal they wanted something a bit more elegant than my focus. :ROFLMAO: Been a while since I drove a diesel car and it was grand but I was happy to be back in my own motor.

I went back yesterday evening with my two new mk3 MC Rokkors and I was going to take similar pictures to compare flare and all the rest to the Vivitar but it was difficult to park and the light was dead so in the end I didn't bother and just went shopping instead where I met someone I hadn't seen for 14 years.

I posted this a week or so ago but I must have been watching something good on TV when I processed it as the highlights were over exposed. I spotted this whilst tidying my computer up so I reprocessed it for a more realistic as it was on the day look. Dull. Overcast. Raining a bit.
