The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I wonder if they'll crack the 15FPS limitation

I have my A9 on medium fps as I haven't found a reason for using anything faster (yet) .. I just can't imagine shooting at 30fps.

Just looked it up and with the hood and tripod mount my Sport version weighs in at 3155g, no wonder I am finding it harder and harder to shoot BIF with.

TBH I'm not that worried if they dont. I have my A9 on medium fps as I haven't found a reason for using anything faster (yet)

the weight seems to be same as Sony 200-600mm and price will probably be around the tamron 150-500mm give or take £50-100.
not sure if its a extending design or not.
It will most likely not take any TCs on e-mount.

I didn't realise the weight of the Sport was as much as that TBH, I had it in my head that it was around 2.3kg for some reason, maybe I'm getting it confused with the Nikon 200-500mm

yeah the sport is quite heavy but the 60-600mm sport is surprisingly little less heavy

Got a hole in the back pocket of my old camera bag and lost my travel card, so decided to buy a new one which arrived yesterday.

ThinkTank Retrospective 7 v2. It's fantastic. :) Really well made and a lovely soft canvas that feels so high quality. There's bigger and smaller models and this one is medium size but deceivingly deep with a ton of pockets and zips. And a useful drinks holder pocket that you unhook and unvelcro with a flip down foam to strengthen the pocket base which is well thought out.

Fold over dividers so you can support the camera which leaves more space for lenses underneath. All metal buckles and zips. Trolley handle slip through holder on the back, organiser compartment, compartment for a small laptop, attached key carabiner, extra dividers and supplied raincover which I'll probably never use. The bag has already been coated with water protection. Silent mode where you can tuck either or both the velcro flaps away or use partial velcro on each flap, and you can even tuck the larger zipper flap inside the flip over top flap. So there's many options on how to use the bag. A very well padded and super comfortable non slip strap. Conditional lifetime guarantee. The colour is called Pinestone. It's interesting because depending on the light it can look more grey or more green. I'm used to putting my camera in sideways and can reconfigure the dividers to do that. I feel that gives the LCD screen more protection by laying horizontally against a foam divider rather than having the screen facing up. I wonder what other's thoughts are on that? Here's photos, sorry for so many. :p First time I've used my 5D ll for ages.

Had to get rid of my v1, lightweight kit in a heavy bag wasn't working for me

Lovely bags and I miss mine. But hated carrying everything on one shoulder.

The v2 has been made lighter, but whether it's enough to feel the difference I don't know.

Did you go for a backpack then? For me, a messenger/sling style bag works best as I have instant access to everything, and I don't do enough landscape to make a backpack worthwhile.

Yeah backpack. With weddings it is so much easier. But I’m also tempted to get a roller bag too so I can fit in all flash items/drone etc into one bag.

We use a roller just for the car then brake everything down into smaller shoulder bags as we need it. Never been a fan of backpacks.

At my 2nd wedding I realised how annoying backpacks were.

Basically, I shot my first wedding years ago with my messenger bag. I didn't have a huge amount of gear as i do now but for my 2nd wedding i got a couple more lenses and thought i would buy a back pack and then took it to London for the wedding. It is just far too heavy to be used on the day (which i didn't) and even too heavy to travel A to B with. Immediately I bought a Thinktank Airport International V2 (it's V3 now), had it ever since. A Roller bag is much easier on your body, fits more in, more secured (comes with locks), it looks like a carry-on, it has better protection.

I put that in the car and use my original messenger bag to shoot and swap gear out when needed. Since then this way has worked for me, I do not ever try to carry more than the messenger bag can carry, this helps keeps the weight down.

Possible technical issues with Tamron 28-75mm.

Thanks for the heads up, I just bought a refurb from Park Cameras yesterday so this has come at the best/worst time - first thing I'll be checking upon its arrival is the serial.

I guess it's an argument against being an early buyer. But who can resist when shiny new kit is announced :D

Hope you get it sorted Lefty, if your lens is affected.

No issues here :D

Except mushy corners, possible wild bokeh at f1.x and slow AF :D

...
A good example of needing to pick the right option for your needs.
For me, I only ever use a shoulder bag when I'm carrying fairly minimal kit, I can fit my A6000, 16-50, 55-210, 35 & 50 primes into my bag, but walking around I'll usually have the camera and a lens out, making the bag much lighter (proportionally).
If I'm carrying my old A900 kit then a good backpack is my only choice - but I'm either walking a fair distance between shots (landscape, etc), or occasionally just transporting to a site (eg family get together) where my bag will then sit in a corner - a roller bag would simply not be practical when out walking, a shoulder bag gets heavy far too quickly.

Before I bought the 70-180 from Panamoz I asked for the serial number and checked with Tamron that it was out the range of those lenses identified with the internal floating optics problem.
Did you manage to get it cleaned in the end?

Well, looks like I'm sending it back. I just loaded the bag with my usual stuff plus some lunch and started walking. You're right, it does feel heavy and weighs me down. But my main discomfort is the strap.

So much for the well padded foam, the problem is that the unpadded trim surrounding the padded part digs into my shoulder and is uncomfortable. The bag itself also weighs a bit more than my old bag which might have been ok if the strap suited me better. The strap on my old bag just has a length of padding with no unpadded trim to dig in and is really comfortable that I can wear it all day and not notice it. Also, as my old bag is a bit longer, I think the weight distribution is better and so it feels a bit lighter and more comfortable. So I've turned around and come home and reloaded my old bag.

You were right. What a pity, such a nice looking bag. I hope Amazon take it back, I just cut a couple of the promotion labels off. Don't know if there's a bag out there for me. I might try putting my old strap onto the new bag and see if that works.

I put up with the v 1 for a long time, but in the end went back to a crumpler muffin top 7500. Not an ideal bag as it has no bottle holder but its light. Unfortunately it's long discontinued. I've got a red and a brown version so I take whatever matches my heels.

Ah shame...

I am still using my Crumpler Geekstar, I must have had this for like 12 years now, I even took it to America twice with me on jobs. I would have thought the stitching would have given up ages ago but the bag is still holding up, almost like new.

I’ve got a small think tank bag that takes my A9 with something like the 24-105mm and another medium sized lens, a slightly bigger lowepro messenger, a manfrotto Holster (for the A9 with 100-400mm) and then a large ish Tenba rucksack, all have comfortable straps imo even when carrying heavy gear.

My A7 and a prime fits in a man bag together with a water bottle and some biscuits, cloths, spare battery, filter etc. My Billingham Hadley Pro Small takes A7+prime or two or A7+GX9/80 with 45-150mm plus a bottle of water and biscuits and everything else. I had a back pack but mostly just used it to keep stuff in. When it did go out it mostly stayed in the car.

Leave the camera at home and take more bicuits Alan.

the E.V.F on my oldest A7III bit the dust at my last wedding. Sent it of too Fixation and they have come back with a quote of £340 to fix it.

As it turned this one was bought from Panamoz and had a few weeks of warranty left. To be fair to them they were great and have already send me a payment to cover the repair costs. I only contacted them at lunch time.

Great service.

Out of interest what sort of shutter counts do your cameras get up to?
