The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Tried a couple of handheld at a little waterfall, the second photo with 1/5 sec shutter to try and make the water creamy. Not sure it worked that brilliantly but sort of got the effect. One day I might invest in an ND filter or whatever it is I'll need.

I've just managed to pick up the FE 28-60 (retail box, not kit) for £314 from MPB and will hopefully get it in time for the weekend to try it out (on my trusty A7 mk1).

Reviews seem to suggest it's a solid portable zoom, but I can't find too much on the forum regarding usage - is it not well liked?

Viltrox 85mm 1.8, really looking forward to their 24/35/50mm's

I want to love the Sony GM lenses (I buy them for work) but when I see images like this, lovely colour and character - I wonder if it will be possible

I browse through the Sony FE images on FredMiranda, every time I stop to admire an image I see that it's another non Sony lens - Voigtlander etc..

Once the Sony A1's arrive, I will be on a mission to use them for my personal photography.. try to build up some positive experiences with them, and see what can be done in post processing. Hopefully there's a way to get the feeling I want.

I don't think that it's not well liked as such. I just don't think many people have it.

No-one has one yet - you're possibly the first here - although the zoom range isn't well liked for its limitations. Be interesting to hear how you get on.

Hi Guys,

Those that have ordered from Panamoz, what’s the delivery times like at present?

I ordered last Monday, was told Friday delivery, but it's now changed and appeared to be a solid Monday delivery. If it arrives this Monday I'll be thoroughly delighted.

I chose not to get it with my C because it's a very limited lens, your sacrificing a lot for the size. I know from experience that the speed would be too slow for me.

My initial decision also. But with hindsight it may have been useful. IQ-wise it seems very good.

Hi, advice please, I use auto ISO when shooting on days of quickly changing light, is there an option on the A9 to show what auto ISO has been selected? My son uses a Nikon D500 and that shows the ISO amount in auto. Thanks Russ.

when you half press the shutter it will tell you, either in the EVF or on the LCD (may have to rotate display mode)

you can also review the info for a taken shot

Got my Panamoz DPD tracking numbers today...

Any suggestions on where to buy four 160gb CFexpress A cards - anyone ordered from tecobuy? :D

Maybe not them :( https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.tecobuy.com

Just got the last two from an ebay seller in the UK at £708.86 for the pair - well at least it's £90 saved

I ordered my 35GM on a Monday and received it on a Friday, I am in Northern Ireland so always takes a day or so longer than it does for mainland U.K.

Really hoping for something more from the Sony A1, I try to get the A9 images to my liking - with more muted colours, but also getting flat tonality as well, some of which is pulled back highlights - we will see!

Maybe you should've only bought one until you were sure it's what you want.... :)

At least I 'know' the A1 is more responsive than the A9 and it has anti-flicker - which is what matters most for my professional use.

I'm told the image quality from the A7RIV is better than the A9, so I'm hopeful about the A1.

Maybe you need to think about black mist diffusion filters or something.
One of the snags of near perfect ultra realistic and supersharp images is lack of character.

I got a 46mm one just as I decided to sell all my 46mm Leica lenses!

But yes I'll give it another look once i settled on filter sizes

With my a7Riii now taking over from my a7iii, I am tempted to swap the a7iii for an a7c.
If I was to go ahead, I'd probably get it with the new kit lens.
I think it would be great for the times when I have the 200-600 on the a7r3 and I'd like to take a quick landscape shot.
Then again I have my a6600 kit that could do the same
The better AF etc makes the a7c very tempting.

Would it be worth getting an ND filter for the 35 1.4? I do like to film as well.

I did it, ordered the a9 and 200-600mm from Panamoz [emoji3]. Savings gone [emoji3525]. Now just have to wait..... Oh forgot to say, not good at waiting [emoji1787][emoji1787].

It is a really good combo, I don't use my 200-600 an awful lot but when I do it has always impressed.

Not unless you want to use a slow shutter, the A9 shutter speed goes up to 1/32000 so it shouldn't be an issue.

I thought that all the reviews said the A6600 autofocus is really very good?

Just to encourage a further dent in your savings I've discovered that the use of the Sony 1.4x teleconverter is an excellent addition to the the A9 and 200-600 combination.

Yes, its quite good.
I've been using my a6600 kit almost every day since I got it at the start of lockdown last year.
My a7iii has hardly been used since then.
Now that I have the a7Riii and 200-600, the a7iii either needs to go or collect dust.
I really like the image quality from the a7iii and as the a7c has the same sensor etc I thought it would make a decent replacement but slightly smaller and lighter.
