So no-one uses the Tamron wideangle primes?

They are all that colour

I wonder why they don't make it black like the lens? Suppose it doesn't matter, mine will probably never come off the camera lol

A7C + 55mm Sonar on triopd today

For both images I had the camera on one of my tripods ( I have many) using the Smartflash from slightly befind on LHS set the timer to 2 sec and held white foam board on RHS to help fill in.

I've never met a native American. I think I'd like to, maybe one well up on history and culture who could give a good talk. I liked the story of Grey Owl which would be considered awful cultural appropriation these days.

Many years ago I got right into a CD called Sacred Spirit, it was of native American Indians chanting and I totally love it as I play it a lot to chill out.

Shooting birds in flight is so difficult. I often find the tracking box doesn't stay locked with fast moving animals, but maybe I just need to move the camera faster?
Still, I got one shot yesterday which isn't too bad I guess.

Very nice. The closest I get to BIF is waiting patiently until they enter the frame to press the button.

I'm thinking of selling all my MFT kit. It's lovely kit but I'm just not using it. Ditto lots of my old film era lenses as I'm just not using them but then I think, what will I get for them? Will it be worthwhile bothering? At least when I have them I can use them once in a while if only just for fun and therapy.

What to do?

what are you wanting to know?
IQ wise 35mm is the best one of the lot but all three are pretty good.
they aren't very popular because of the f2.8 and size for being f2.8. Not many people think much of the 1:2 macro capabilities at such a wide angle but you can get some unique shots with them if you know how to make use of it.

I had been thinking of those unique shot capabilities and whether users were finding them useful: I already own a tiny and very useful 35 f2.8, but do occasionally wish I could get a bit closer in the way that I'm able with my phone camera. Most likely I just need to go buy a conventional macros lens and have done with it, although it won't have that wide angle capability that's of particular interest. If they made a 28 then I might have gone for it, but 24 is a bit too wide and I'm on the point of selling my 18mm Sammy because although I carry it everywhere, it's barely used.

Have you thought about using a close up filter? Not as good as a macro lens but I think they give quite nice options for close up shots.

I often carry one now and I think they work well on 24/28/35mm lenses and often use one on my Voigtlander 35mm f1.4. With 50mm and longer there's not a lot of wiggle room but with the wider lengths there is possibly an overlap between the maximum distance the close up filter will focus and the minimum focus distance of the lens without the filter and this gives options for framing.

There's possibly more users of the canon RF 35mm f1.8 which also does 1:2 macro. you can see if they find it useful.
Basically its bit of a niche, that requires a whole lot of patience, practice and pain. But your shots will be unique which is what you get for all that effort.

if you are wanting to do wide-angle macro I'd lean towards the 20mm than the 35mm though personally. you could even replace your samyang 18 with tamron 20mm. There's plenty of examples with the likes of laowa 15mm f4 macro lens for example which is show you the kind of picture you can look to get.

Well those new lenses are a bit boring.

No toneh, no sale.

not really the compact lenses I'd have hoped for. I can see their thinking with the A7C but I don't think they needed premium slow lenses for it. the faster f1.8 options aren't actually that big but these give A7C users a focus where there isn't a forefinger dial.

I wish they'd have gone down canon's route and made compact really long telelenses like 800mm f11 or something.

Well, they are obviously designed for the A7C, but for that money I would have expected f1.8, and as a set 40mm and 50mm are too close together.

A short time ago I was bleating on about a couple of attachment lenses that I had made for my RX10M4, one being a "Wide Angle" attachment and the other being a "Macro/Close Up" attachment. Well this is this is my first presentation using the "Macro/Close Up" attachment lens.

Just a simple Macro/Close Up type Snapograph taken at Kent UK of a Springtail Bug on top of a trash bin.

If you have good relationship with shops and thier managers you can get decent prices even in the UK.
I got my 35GM for less than current panamoz price.
I find lenses aren’t always that much cheaper than the average UK price sometimes, although on others you can save several hundred.

As with everything, shop around every time.

Got an email earlier that I'll get mine this Friday, I only ordered it yesterday. That's crazy lol

Those new lenses, that longitudinal ca looks bad.

Anyone buying?

I can see appeal in them all.

No - even without seeing the results I already know that I wouldn't want any of them at the price they'll be selling for. To borrow a phrase, size isn't everything. ;)

The 24mm would probably be my most likely but I could convince myself to get the 40 or 50 too.

I have the 20mm f1.8 but a compact 24mm would be nice for days out.

I'll watch reviews when I get some time, only seen the one from those DPR guys yet.

None of them interest me, not my focal ranges, too slow, and too expensive considering the other factors.

Those new lenses aren't for me either.

I guess I can see the attraction with them being smaller etc. If I was looking for a holiday camera I might pick up an A7C and would consider them but for that I guess I would probably just go for the Samyang horror show because they are much cheaper.

If they were around the £400 price it might be different.

the samyang 45mm/1.8 is actually just as light, small and also sharp and faster aperture. Plus you don't have to pick between 40 and 50mm split the difference and go in the middle. :D
the main thing you lose out on is the weathersealing and aperture ring if you care for it.

the samyang 24mm f2.8 is a bit soft in corners. I would look at the sigma 24mm f3.5 instead.

but in all honesty I don't think the likes of 20G, 24GM, FE35/1.8, FE50/1.8 or FE55 are all that big. they are very travel friendly and I have travelled a lot with these lenses.

nice to have so many options though :p

WoW. Distortion on that 24mm in Gerald Undone's vid.

I'll stick with the Samyang 45mm f1.8 for now. Unfortunately though since getting the Sigma 85mm DG DN the Samyang doesn't seem 'that' sharp

Not making me want to move from my two Voigtlanders and a Loxia.
