The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Didn't Fuji say they wouldn't do a FF, APS-C and the bigger one, whatever it's called, being their target.

Their next 2 cameras will be the XH-2 APSC, and the Range-finder version of the GFX Medium Format, can't see them bothering with FF

I thought you were posting something new :p your a73 could easily handle that bird. Was quite impressed shooting gulls a little while back, was in wide and just looked up green boxes all over it without any thinking. So easy.

Your right, the A7 III can easily handle the bird too.
Just goes to show how good the Sony A7 III is and now that Nikon & Canon have shown their hand it’s even more apparent.
The Sony A9 is still awesome though :D

I thought I'd get my $12 worth and have a look see, I haven't looked t that site for a few weeks.
Crikey, they are absolutely nuts, I think it's even worse than the bird photography section used to be on here:D

IMO sadly LL is a shadow of it's former self and has been since the main guy died. They took my money as I didn't spot I was on auto renew but once my subscription lapses I won't be renewing even for $12. There's rarely anything worth reading there now and the forums are IMO a joke with a couple of high profile fanboys and a lot of back slapping. In its day I thought it was a really good site but it looks like the current controllers don't have the time or the interest to keep up the good work.

Yup, a9 is awesome, for someone that needs a FF 20fps, zero blackout and always silent it's worth the extra money because there's nothing like it.

Have had the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 and the Zeiss 35 f/1.4 for a few days now. Sending the Zeiss back on Monday, not a lot in it but I just preferred the Sigma. Maybe because it was what I was used too.

Anyway that will save me a few quid. :)

Performs better on my Sony bodies than it ever did on any of the Canon or Nikons I used lad !

Buying the 24mm 1.4 and 135 1.8 today

I think I might send my 20mm art for mount conversion saves the hassle of selling and rebuying gonna keep the 50mm Art for Nikon though it’s absolutely amazing.

I'd have got the 20mm if it took filters for video. Gutted it's a bulbous element

A 100% crop from the 85mm f1.8, I hope the sharpness survives the posting process...

Actually it doesn't so there's no point posting it :D

I've been looking at some pictures I took with my old Sigma 85mm f1.4 and the Sony f1.8 is definitely sharper wide open and other wide apertures. Other than that I've having a problem deciding which bokeh I prefer.

All these fast lenses you folk have and I'm happy getting an f2.4 ;) ...should be here Monday.

So whilst the A7iii is not as comfortable in hand as the D750, it does have a lot of little things that I am liking more. I may eventually get a grip but for now I’m just learning and adapting to holding and using the camera differently from the Nikon.

Been using the D750 for so long, the Sony just feels so different!

Although the menus are a bit long non the tooth, the way you can customise so many buttons and short cuts it’s great!

The EVF is ok, not as good as the R or probably the Z6 and apparently it drops quality in shooting, BUT the amount of features they have crammed in something had to give a little.

Tracking at 8fps is great. Black out is minimul. Maybe a tad more than the D750 but nothing major. Even at 10fps you can still track ok. Yeah it’s not live, but it still works well enough as long as you start shooting where you want it’s no issues.

Not really got out and used it properly. Waiting on screen protector and the 70-200! Next weekend will be it’s first low light equestrian event!

Give it a month and you'll find that the D750 feels completely alien to you. Agree on the EVF. It's perfectly fine but I used an A7rIII today and the EVF on it is so much nicer to use.

Make sure you use the 'my menu' option and you'll never have to delve through the depths of the menu system again. A few bizarre labelling issues aside, I absolutely LOVE the sony menu system. Depth is a good thing.
