I'm not 100% sure I would either. I don't like that they kept the XT3 identical to the XT2, would have liked to see a better grip at the very least and the more I check specs it seems a lot of the upgrades are video-centric
 
I think we're going to see more of this as stills and vid converge in one camera.
 
High ISO capability of the A7R3, rubbish light in the park yesterday but I had to get out!

I thought from quickly scanning the specs etc this morning that they had made the camera body grip bigger. It made me sit up as the small grip on the X-T2 was a real problem for me. Perhaps I heard it wrong but I hope not.

also the dial on the t3 are thinner than on the t2

pointless me saying no, as theres always a chance. but currently got a sony and 3 lenses. have waited around looking at what Nikon & canon are doing. liking the ergonomics of both - think sony are lagging behind canon, nikon and fuji (xh1) here imo.. theres wasted real estate on the sony camera. saying that, im fine to shoot in manual mode with front and real dial for aperture and shutter speed, with the control wheel for iso.

sony rule currently with af, continuous eye af and have a decent lens suite that now has 3rd party support. sensor quality is superb also. its hard to look past them tbh.

if i was a betting man (i am) i'd back the odds on an a73 or a7r3 being my next purchase.
 
Handling and weather sealing don't seem to be issues for me but they are a constant and repeated gripe against Sony and if I was Mr Sony I'd be addressing these and other issues for the next iteration.

After I'd done a 35mm f1.8 of course.

can't please everyone. make the cameras bigger: someone complains. keep them small and others will continue to complain.

To date Sony have kept the older cheaper and in the case of the A7 smaller cameras in production so that option is there for people who prioritise size and weight over features and handling. How many of these they'll keep in production and for how long I don't know.

I also don't know how much weight people give to reviews and bloggers but they must be factors and if handling and weather sealing get repeatedly bashed and also used by the competition as marketing plus points for their systems someone at Sony should be making a decision as to if it's worth improving these things or not.

I think Sony should re-introduce the original A7 body as a new A6 FF model series.

- A7 body with stronger / weather sealed build
- No IBIS
- A7 III sensor
- 11 fps
- Single SD card slot
- Original A7 battery
- AF joystick
- Improved AF, possible like the A7 III

There is a market for small FF mirrorless.

Also think a FE 35mm f1.8 is a must.

An A7 redone and warmed over and sold as an A6 would make a lot of sense for people like me who don't push the gear too hard.

I don't know about a 35mm f1.8 coming anytime soon. I think Sony must be protecting sales of the 35mm f1.4 but as has been said many times if you don't cannibalise your own sales the competition will.

I don't think they are protecting 35mm f1.4 because that's a different class lens. Like 85GM and 85mm F1.8.

Must be the A7s release surely? Too early to replace any of the other models?

Hopefully some more prime lenses! I reckon they will release a 35mm 1.8, it will sell very well!
 
An A7s would be my guess but with Sony you never know :D

I can almost guarantee buying a 35mm f1.8 if it's quite compact and under £1k but it'd be nice if it was good too :D and hopefully 55mm f1.8 good :D

How about a surprise A7L (for large) - an A7iii in a slightly bigger body with a top plate OLED display and full weathersealing... :D
 
A much more compact, yet still high quality short zoom, possibly with folding capacity like the Olympus 14-42 pancake please. I am still taken aback by the size of some of the current kit.
 
35mm 1.8, what’s so special about this lens? Why does everyone go on about wanting one, person Malloy I have never used a 35 1.8 so no idea and interested to know what it offers over a 35 2.8 other than the obvious stop of light, the 2.8 is super tiny on the a7
 
I've just got an old 35mm and... it's a paper weight. The coatings are totally shot. I think it's time for me to give up on buying lenses of this age as it's becoming increasingly difficult to get good ones.

It's f1.8 and it's usually smaller, lighter and cheaper than a f1.4.

The advantages over f2.8 are for dof and light gathering but you could argue that neither are too significant and if you think that then the f2.8 is perfect and you don't need a f1.8 :D
 
Quick Sony noob question when I turn on my camera the focus point is in the top left of the screen. It wasn't doing that before so I have obviously changed something or other, any ideas?
 
If you centre it does it go to the top left again next time?

Check your vertical and horizontal settings. Turn the camera landscape set to centre, turn portrait set to centre, turn off and check.
 
I think I'd be open to buying a 35mm 1.8 if they released one. It would have to be 55mm 1.8 size or smaller though and around the same price as the 85mm 1.8, maybe a tad more. Otherwise I'd go for a sigma 35mm 1.4 which is my plan at the moment.
