The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

A7r2 was good for af in all kinds of conditions but the latest generation are breathtaking.

The way d750 gets praised is sensational to the point why are you in this thread toying with the Idea of getting a inferior Sony camera by your eyes when the d750 Is excellent?

Stick with the d750

Arrr you getting upset again Jonney? I never said the a7iii was inferior, did I.

I keep thinking about the medium format stuff, but maybe I should just add an a7RIII for landscape/portraiture

then I can share the lenses among them.. and when will that 400mm 2.8 be around? maybe I could grow to like something that requires such a lens :D

So I’m confused! So am I right in saying Sony users are saying the A7iii will have better CAF and Nikon users say Athe D750 has better CAF.

In both good and low light that is! I need decent CAF indoors for indoor equestrian.

Can I get an unbiased opinion from say a Pentax user

Does it? What is your case? Statues? You've never used a d750.

I bought an a7rii because you banged on about the af, the caf was disappointing.

I agree its not as good as D750 and it has its quicks but certainly not disappointing. Its pretty decent to be honest and definitely not as bad as you seem to make it out to be (and probably not as good as jonney makes it out to be :D )

Yes, you're confused. I'm not saying the d750 is better or worse than an a7iii because I've never used an a7iii. I' saying it' better than an a7rii at caf.

Nobody here can tell you about the a7iii af beating a d750, it' not been released yet.

It's not crap at all, it was a huuuuge improvement over the a7. Just not as good as the d750... that's all.

Kids running around,f1 cars. Local 5 aside footy matches etc pretty demanding. Jus the buffer rate was rubbish on it

I think I should have said... that according to Sony the a7iii will have better focus than the a7rii.

Now if the a7rii has better CAF than the D750 (according to Sony users on here) then the A7iii will be better than the D750?

Just try a d750 alongside an a7rii and youll notice the difference immediately. The a7rii also has it's benefits though.

Are you not getting the shots with your d750??

There's only one Sony user on here that said an a7rii is better than a d750 and that person's never used a d750.

400mm coming out after summer.

Of course! I could probably get them with a 6D, a D500, a D7500 etc but I’m not looking at the A7iii because I’m missing shots.

Well I've had the A7RII for a couple of weeks now and I can say without a shadow of a doubt it beats any D750 I've ever tried in every scenario.

For clarity, I've never even held a D750 [emoji2]

If it’s just Gas then just go and get one and the 70-200

GAS, form factor with the 50mm, differerent, 10fps, decent live view, looks like a fun camera!

Anyway going to park cameras Friday to see how they feel in the hand with the 70-200 before do anything.

No I believe the a7r2 was the first to beat the d750
Where do you get your info from?

No-one truly knows how good the A7iii is yet in all scenarios, from what I’ve seen it’s only been tested in good light by people who are likely to be biased as they’ve been invited along to try by Sony.

The A7rii doesn’t have better AF-C. The A7riii might do and likewise the A7iii

And I’m right in saying you have a good judgement having used both!

I don't believe that of the better reviewers and bloggers.

For me the a7r2 was very goood

I’ve obviously had far more experience with the D750 but the A7rii just instantly didn’t feel as snappy. I know for different tasks you need to learn the camera to get the best settings, but you can get an instant feel for a camera. If it’s not as snappy in normal situations you know it’s not going to be as good in demanding conditions.

Having owned both the A7rii and d750 I’d chime in and state that ime the A7rii wasn’t close to the d750 for focus acquisition or tracking. Certainly in low light I’d say the d750 was better than any camera I’ve owned.

But for more static people photography the A7rii suited me better due to relative ease of using face and continuous eye af.

However, this is a Sony fan boy thread and Sony fan boys love a spec sheet. So let’s say the A7rii has better focus ability because it says so on the spec sheet.

Appreciate your honesty! I’m going to wait for it to come out and get a better idea of its CAF abilities in low light.

I can’t help think you’re getting confused, we’ve just been talking about the A7rii which has been out for a while now ;) I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the A7iii is a match or betters the D750. I would expect the A7iii to be similar or marginally better than the A7riii (that’s A7r3 ;))
