toying with the idea of pre ordering a 1dx mk2 to replace my 5d3.

It willWell it wont replace your 5d because youll just keep it?
It will
I will. Are you thinking of getting a D5? Have you ever owned a pro body like dx before? But you never sell your cameras?

Hope the 5dx is just a 1dx2 without the bulk
It has better dynamic range apparently hehe.if your not making money from sport etc I cant see why you would want to buy it and what it does better than your 5d3 but hey if you have the budget and want it mate go for it ;-)
True. Well saidI think youre crazy, fair enough if you were getting paid or your main style was sport but tbh your 5d3 will cope with what you want quite easily. Seems like youre throwing money away especially if you start adding longer lenses.
prob sensible mate tbh ... I won a local rugby and football contract hence the 1dx2 coming and 200-400 tcIt has better dynamic range apparently hehe.
But yes your right. 5dx should have Dr that matches a Sony sensor. If not I won't even bother with that either
Your right. my combo does the job no doubt about thatI know I've said it before but is your current kit not delivering results for you Jonney or do you just want some new boxes? Looking at your shots on Flickr I can't see why a 5D3/A7 combo can't deliver the studio/street style images you upload?
I've never shot with the highest-end kit but people still pay me to shoot their weddings/portraits/events which, as a paid photographer, I see as the priority. None of my clients have ever asked to see their prints at 200% on screen before approval nor have they ever come back and said that they'd love the results if only there was another stop of DR ;0). I've also had magazines happy to print double-page gallery images that I shot on a 400D with kit lens so sometimes it's not about having the 'best' kit on paper but actually getting the results.
I realise that there are extreme situations where more DR and better high ISO are your only options but I'd say they're less common on the whole.
I agree that it's something that's nice to have. I shot with a D750 for the first time the other week and the files are very nice but my point for Jonney was that the kit he has is more than capable of delivering great results so maybe he shouldn't be so quick to buy the next toy under the idea that it will somehow offer him a leap over what he's already got.
I'll buy a new car instead

lol
I will on a new car as mine is quite old. Slow. Poor audio abilities and not good and smallWhy dont you buy something youll actually see a return on?
