The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Looks like she is sulking upstairs so I'll open boxes after dinner. Boxes will need to be hidden and hidden well. Maybe in the shed or garage.
She has started to google stuff.
When I first bought a d810 before we were engaged she was outraged at the price I paid. Her: "That could have gone towards my ring".
Me: "and then I wouldn't have the camera."
You may need to replace sooner than you expected

Woah...She took the package in...yes? So have you worked out a story about what was in it yet?
Do tell us please as this is genuine research for everyone on here

I'd usually try for a work delivery if I'm not at home but lce only deliver to ch registered address. She knows I've sold and bought a few things recently so this is part of my "consolidation" of gear.

Yep,can't argue that's worked fine for me so have a good night's shooting and show us what you got eh? :naughty:

Lmao she is a tog too albeit does different work to me..... That being said she appears to have nabbed the Leica as haven't seen it since lmao
Owen but surely you will be consoled by the 1DXII you've got coming? Mustn't be greedy mate :canon: oops I couldn't find an I Love Sony Smilie :runaway:

Lol got a make some serious cash before I pay the balance off of the 1dx2 now lol

Well they delivered my Batis to my work address today without complaint. Maybe your wife threatened them to make sure they only deliver to your home.
Let me know your initial thoughts, I'm loving mine having only shot a few photos of my son.
Proper creamy bokeh :)

Did you order over the phone? Payment page states will only deliver the ch address

I'm really liking what I've seen so far. Super sharp wide open, at least as good as my 55mm which is a major compliment. As you say bokeh is great. A couple of of NAS servers sitting on my desk with lines of blinking lights made a good test of the wonky bokeh balls in the corners. Very obvious effect, but will have to see how it plays out in real photos. The focus ring feels weird as hell, but works well. Not a huge MF guy so no big deal anyway. Ergonomics are good, autofocus is good.

Just hope I fall in love with it before the new Sony comes out.

I'm on holiday but off to the city tomorrow so may take the 25 with me. Then have 2 shoots over the weekend so will definitely get some use in the next few days.

@woof woof what about the ricoh gr? Their fixed lens compact, that's good

For me? I like the ability to change lenses.

I've just got a 12-35mm f2.8 for MFT so that should keep me busy for a while and later in the year I'll have to decide if I want to stick with MFT or swap to A6000. Whatever I do with the RF style I'll be keeping my A7 and lenses as I see it as my luxury kit :D for use when I'm by myself or want the best quality I can get :D

Steve Huff and the 24-70mm f2.8. Does he like it? What do you think? :D

Lovely but ever so slightly scary women shots...

He also says...

"In any case, I can’t wait to see what Sony has up their sleeve next. I predict and A9 pro, new sensor, pro build, weather sealed, an EVF to beat the Leica SL, and the fastest AF speed yet. But that’s just a guess ;) I have NO inside info, and it is not a rumor. Just a hunch."

New sensor? I wonder what? Curved? higher mp count? Time will tell...

Sony A9 this year means I will have to upgrade lol mmmmm ;)

Cant see an a9 coming unless its well over 3k would take too much away from the a73 series etc when released... is there demand for an a9 tbh not sure as mentioned above I would think A mount would be more popular for pros unless Sony have something big up there sleeves......................

I can see demand for something thats mirrorless but in a bigger body.... I actually really liked the A77 and thats going back a few years now, A Mount but had a cracking EVF, I reckon a proper Full Frame A Mount with all of the tech thats been developed in the Ax line now would be something special, if they price it right.

Another top end A7xxx or A9 so soon is just going to alienate people who spent £2500 on an A7rii, and certainly isn't going to help the general perception that Sony bodies don't remain current for very long.

The problem is nobody (in comparison to other manufacturers) bought the A99 and that was a FF A77.

if they did release an a9 who do you think they would aim it at? pros? Obv would be a higher end market so would be a higher price (I'm guessing to not cannibalise the a7r2) pros would demand autofocus fps and ultimate image quality perhaps the a9 would be medium format given sonys history of producing mf sensors for other manufacturers ...........
