The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Good to see the more advanced features via adapter. The a7rii is on my want list but it's so bloody expensive..... and Ive lost so much money using Sony over the years through depreciation... just got to be patient. I hate being patient.

Just buy mine when I move to the A9 / A7RIII ;) hehe
I hope Zeiss make a Batis 135mm and 200mm next.

Is there anything stopping them releasing a Nikon adapter like this ???? Obv I'm a canon guy and not stirring just obv Metabones etc and now sigma seem concentrated on the canon ef lenses

Yes. Nikons af protocol is very complicated. Sigma af is a copy of canons design.

Ah I see ..... Just wondered ...thanks for the info :-)

Also Nikon still control aperture from the body, so your otherwise purely electronic adapter suddenly needs motors and stuff adding in to operate the aperture lever. For Nikon's own lenses, even a lot of current models also need an AF motor in the body to autofocus the lens too.

So yeah, if I were building an adapter I'd choose Canon too.

I think he still does love Leica but always says that he only reviews kit he likes to shoot himself. I prefer his reviews to dull ones going through MTF charts and micro-contrast though :0)

Is there any other kind? :D

Yup. He only reviews stuff he likes :D

I think the only time I've read a less than glowing review was when he looked at the Panasonic LX100. He said he was going to review it but then it all went quiet and he only grudgingly posted his thoughts after being pestered by his readers... he didn't like it. I actually like his enthusiasm.

Shame about that Sony announcement. Oh well, there'll be something along sooner or later but we're coming to the end of the first quarter now so if this year is going to be better than last they'll have to get a move on :D

A wildlife telephoto lens would go down a treat. Even just for the a6000/a6300

yeah is a bit was told 4k emount so bang on lol........ I do believe it is a test bed for something coming soon though ;-)

Is yours one of the ones affected by the latest service notice?

Thankfully, no, but it seems Nikon has the issue covered, they just extended the manufacture period recall. GAS is terrible. I have an issue, I like trying new things as much as taking photos :wacky: Doing pretty well with the D750 tbh, longest Ive owned any camera (since launch).

I only came across this by accident but from what I remember there were a few minor niggles covered and not just as the official Nikon page.

A bit like car manufacturers calling cars in for one thing and doing several things while they've got it, reputation and damage limitation maybe. Still just minor things though.

I do have a little gas... waiting for my used 12-35mm f2.8 to arrive (don't know if I'll like it so not paying £700 for one) for MFT, going to take it on holiday also keep looking at A6000. There's been some bargain Sony APS-C's and lenses in the classifieds and I'm constantly tempted to buy into the A6000 series and move away from MFT. Developments in MFT land seem painfully slow to me and stuff I've been waiting years for still isn't available. Currently waiting for auto ISO with the ability to dial in exposure compensation in all modes, still not available AFAIK with any Panasonic body. Would also like the constant preview of the Sony's. Panasonic cameras seem stone age now after using my A7.

The initial recall was for flare, it was cause by the AF unit. Then the shutter shadow, this recall covers both Id imagine. People will get new shutters so thats pretty good especially if theyve taken thousands of images. Nikon has jumped on both recalls very effectively which is whats important.

I see you ordered that, nice bit of kit. I picked up my second A6000 recently. The combination of good IQ, super fast AF and decent tracking along with it being one of the most comfy CSCs Ive used makes it a winner imo. The price used is ridiculously good vale. Maybe you should just buy one, if you dont get on ( I highly doubt it) you wont lose any money. M43 do seem to be rehashing, only new things they bring to the table are in terms of video.

The only thing that's stopping me buying into the A6000 series is the relatively lacklustre lens line up. The 24mm f1.8 makes the package too bulky to fit in the small bag any of my three cameras will fit in (G1, GX7, A7 all fit in the same bag when fitted with a compact lens, the G1 just fits) but sadly I can't see Sony bringing out a more compact 35mm equivalent lens so for me it would mean going for the 20mm f2.8. I know it's only a few mm off the 35mm equivalent focal length but it's much nearer 28mm than 35 and personally I much prefer the 35mm end. One advantage is that for occasional use I could use my FE 55mm though but MFT despite having (IMO) relatively lacklustre bodies has a nice lens line up. Shame that Sony suffers from weakness in lenses and MFT suffers weakness in bodies.
