The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Sony shouldn’t have any issues with Sony A7 III production/stock as it appears Sony started manufacturing them back in December 2017. One German owner just got his. :)

Thanks, interesting. I'm surprised no-one can make an adapter with a level in it though. Obviously Nikon cameras send electronic signals to a lever in the camera that then moves the aperture on the lens, so why can't they do the same on the adapter? I'm not asking you to answer that per se, just a general question ;)

Not really, if you want the best auto-focusing and tracking mirrorless with a zero blackout silent shutter there isn’t much choice, the Sony A9 is it.
Let’s be clear, the Sony A7 III represents great value but it’s no Sony A9. :)

They have mate, just like they made a adapter for Leica M with a motor in it that makes them AF.... slowly.

It’s nearly got me, but my head is telling me it’s the wrong thing to do for what I use my D750 for. GAS on hold... at the moment!!!

Thats good to hear, it was a very good copy ime. Ill buy another and hope for the best with Sonys QC.

Yup, so far the A7iii seems ideal for me as a hybrid, baby a9 at half the cost... Sony has basically chucked something into the market that does everything very well (at first glance and on paper, much like a D750 but with better video). Its a simple business move, sell the camera cheap, the money is in the lenses and accessories.
 
I was photographing birds, now I have nicer angles of birds but not really worth while shots as far as compositions go, also a more narrow aperture and perhaps faster shutter speed would have been better.

But it was picking these birds out against this background (wide AF)

I want a fast car, I'm not a professional sports driver - but I like fast cars...

I was thinking the Ferrari, but there's the Porsche and Lamborghini to consider too - which one you would get?

I guess one way for Nikon users to make the transition to Sony and reduce the cost is to buy equivalent used Canon lenses and use the adapter, looking at videos AF looks pretty good this way on the later A7 bodies. Whether AF speed using say the 70-200mm f2.8 at a sports event is quick enough I doubt.

They could do, but lets hope Canikon develop something soon so people don't jump... they better had, I have no loyalty and only couple lenses so its never the end of the world for me. See those desert youtube videos don't have me convinced either, can't compare that to the crap weather we have here... plus its a free hols, if someone gave me a free hols id also be polite. The A9 looks great and the A7iii supposedly has the same AF.

With the A9 I shot 25GB of photos and never had a single miss AF wise that I could find. The Sony 85 1.8 also can track birds with ease ! Amazing camera I hope the A7III is even 75% the AF abilityFB_IMG_1520705642057.jpg

That’s the trouble. The 50mm and 28mm sony lenses actually work out a little cheaper overall, but my 70-200 and D750 body do not even come close to affording the A7iii and 70-200 2.8.

I would be spending 2k to get what I have now. Worth it? Doubt it! Still thinking about it? Of course lol. Will do it? Doubt it!

I can’t even consider an A9 so the A7iii would need to be at least as good as the D750 tracking equestrian.
