weekly Susiejb 52 in 2016 Celebrate

It must be in the name, it makes my testicles retract all the way to my throat, just looking at that!

Second one for me Susie :)

LOL ....you'd certainly better not have a go then Chris

I can see why you posted the first, being right on the end of that beam must feel like a lonely place.

Thanks Chris ....I think she found going out on that beam one of the hardest bits.

Great idea and well taken...and it looks fun!

Thanks Clive (y)

CRIKEY can't look, she is certainly alone.

Thanks Molly ...scary isn't it !

Hi Susie - Lone, damn now that is one place I would not enjoy being, a real good sense of height portrayed in both images :)

Thanks DK ....so you're a wimp too :)

Really like No2 Susie gives a true sense of scale and is a more dramatic image for me.

I'd have a go at that!

Well I'm glad there's one adventurous person on here Mark.

Wow - that is terrifying, even for someone not called Chris! Brave girl  I do like the sense of scale given in the second picture.

Thanks Emma :)

:D

certainly a lot going on there, in #2.

Ta d00d ...fancy a go :D

Gis a job i can do that...LOL....well spotted good job with phone.

Thanks Walter ...looks like good fun doesn't it.

Hidden - a fascinating plant indeed I quite like the shallow dof.
Lone - Brave girl, certainly would feel alone all they way up there.

Thank you Minx ...i did think she was very brave :)

#2 for lone! I like to see more of the dangerous looking structure.

Thank you Bernd ...yes, I agree the second one is the best.

Lone - Seen smaller versions of those a holiday camps. The kids love them. You'll not get me on them though.
I think I prefer the second shot, somehow it gives a better sense of scale.

.......

Thanks DK ....so you're a wimp too :)
Haaaaa no I just not good with heights like that, although I have improved over the years with taking the children to Tree 'go ape' type places, it's not something I'd want to do on my own :)

Like the Lone shot and a very different take on the theme. I think the scale of the structure make the figures look quite lonely.

Thank you Tim ans Stan ...much appreciate you looking in :)

He has very piercing eyes, could be dangerous especially if he (he!!) fell out of the tree and hit you on the head.

Hi Susie. Love your subject and composition for Fauna with the vivid green of the caterpillar against the plain white bg. Strange looking beastie .... but then I suppose it would probably think the same of me!

Thanks Carl :)...he was a beauty and was safely replaced after his photoshoot. Those Hummingbird moths are amazing to see, hopefully he will come back into the garden.

That's a creepy looking caterpillar! Well captured, I like the contrast of the colourful caterpillar against the plain background. I assume he wasn't as big as he looks in that picture?

Nicely captured owl too, an owl sculpture is static. Right on theme.

The caterpillar is just as creepy as it's transformed self would later be! Belting shot though. :-)

The owl made me smile....I had considered using one when I moved to this house
Few quid saved, I reckon :D
Suits the theme very well though!

Fascinating caterpillar he does look rather large :wideyed:

I suppose the seagulls just got used to the owl, the owl looks more scared than the seagulls now I bet

We bought this owl
to scare away the seagulls .....not much luck there, so now he's just our resident owl.
Trust me as someone who spends a lot time, on gull deterrent, those static owls never work!
If they are a particular problem in a specific area, you might try hanging CD's in pairs, (so they look like eyes) but are free to revolve.
Also try googling "Fire Gel" , I'm sure its cheaper on eBay, but this'll give you an idea, again if they are sitting on window ledges, fences and the like.

That Capillarity sure is one fugly SoB, well spotted and captured Susie :)

Thank you Bernd ...the caterpillar was about 6cm long and quite chunky :)

Hi Ruth thank you for looking in ....handy hint about seagulls from Cobra below.

Fascinating caterpillar he does look rather large :wideyed:

Hi Allan he was big compared to most caterpillars ....about 6cm ....really lovely pattern on him but he kept curling up.

Wow Susie, never seen the hummingbird moth let alone the caterpillar. Great find

Thanks Chris ....when my son first saw a HB moth he really thought it was a Humming Bird, they are fascinating.

Ooooo I love that caterpillar, I bet he is really gooey on the inside :D the green wrinkles are set off nicely against the mottled background, real nice :

Thank DK ...I wish I could have got more of the pattern in, but he wouldn't stretch out !

Thanks Chris, I'd not heard of the Fire Gel ...I've just Googled it ....it might be really handy for around our pond, we've just taken the net off.

I was really pleased to find the caterpillar ...I hope he visits the garden when he's hatched out.

Wow, that is some caterpillar Susie. Loads of detail in the pic and definitely fits Fauna (y)

That psychedelic owl is a bit scary I think but not enough, it seems, for the gulls. I like the composition though and it's definitely static (n)

Hi susie

Big juicy caterpillar, fantastic detail and the white BG works really well. (y)

HaHa love your resident static owl.

Just a fun iphone pic for me, we've all been engrossed in the Olympics this week, it was a glorious day on the beach yesterday so Max was doing some 'high diving' practice :)

I've cloned out the people on the beach, but I left the windbreak as it reminded me of the Olympic colours.

Definitely an Olympian in the making Susie - gold medallist for sure in those colourful trunks. Good for Game.

Good to see the young ones showing an interest in the Olympics and he enjoying the sea as well.

I think he would be up for the 2024 games at the very latest!

Plenty of colour and determination ( on his face) there Susie.
Fits in nicely.

Very nicely caught susie. (y)

and well done with cloning out unwanted people on the beach, I can barely see them. :D

Hi Susie
Fauna - I'd assumed a macro lens, but maybe not. Great detail there. Is that an eye by the horn?
Static - The pp looks fine to me. He's not going to scare away seagulls hiding in the tree like that though :)
Game - Great shot for the action and his interaction with you. Impressive bit of cloning too, I wouldn't have known.

I'm impressed with your cloning out of people but why did you leave the windbreak in, its in such a bad position  also not keen on the graphics,
sounds a bit harsh, but its such a good shot of your grandson? the two things just distract, obviously just for me it would seem :coat:

Good cloning, I wouldn't have known if you hadn't mentioned it. I agree with Allan about the windbreak, I understand your choice to leave it in for the colours but I do find it distracting..I thought he was holding something to start with. Love his expression though and that he has been inspired by the olympics.

Summer smiles on the beach, wonderful Susie :)

Thank you Carl, Shirley, Bernd, Cobra, and DK I very much appreciate your comments :)

Thanks Tim ...the horn on the caterpillar is at the rear end :) it's a fake eye to scare off predators.

Thanks Allan @alsjazzera ....I did take the windbreak out but it looked a bit bare, so I put it back in, I see what you mean, the positions not great. The graphics ...just a bit of fun really and to bring it in line with the topic. He has got a cheeky face hasnt he :)

We're away visiting relations in the Midlands this week, my first thought for the topic was to try something I really want to conquer, one of those floaty water photos, but haven't found anything suitable. So, I chose this butterfly from the Buckfastleigh Butterflies, we called in there on our way here.
