weekly Susiejb 52 in 2016 Celebrate

Flora ... wow ... lovely light on the flower, and those green leaves look pretty amazing on the dark water.

That's gorgeous Susie - what beautiful light! I love your tiny mushrooms too - what a brilliant idea to add the pin for scale.

Than you Emma :)

That is great, love the light and that the flower is perfectly placed against the dark water

Thanks Chris (y)

That is excellent Susie - as already commented, the lighting is just beautiful.

Thanks Carl :)

I do like Water Lily's Susie, and that is very nicely presented, well captured too :)

Thanks Cobra, just caught that one right.

That's a lovely lilly Susie, one of my fav flowers, I really struggle with the colour of poppies, would love to see one of your images, not sure if my monitors are not set well for pure red, but I struggler to get colour depth and detail in the petals :)

Thanks DK ....unfortunatelymy poppies weren't the red ones :( but I love them all ....here's a purple one :)

Love that water lily Susie. The lighting is superb.

It reminds me of Monet's garden in Giverney which I visited a few years ago. Amazing place and would have been perfect for this week's theme.

Susie, the light is spot on, together with the few water droplets on the leaves just adds the finishing touches.

I'm massively behind on comments - sorry!
Flora - Beautiful shot! As others have said, the lighting is gorgeous and sets off perfectly against that dark background. Nice!

Hi Susie, Love your water lily, the only one thing I would say is that I might of lifted the shadows on the petals more to give it more of a spot light feel as overall it just looks a little under exposed, just my thoughts still a good capture thou :-).

Hi Susie can only agree with the above love how the light is hitting the water lily well spotted

That's some lovely light Susie on the lily. Really nicely spotted and well captured. Personally, I'd like a touch more light on the scene, as Nigel says above, but sometimes these are more artistic decisions than purely technical, and if you prefer your scene like that who are we to argue - it's a great image (y)

Hi Susie the Waterlily is a stunner I can not fault it.

Thank you Mark ...much appreciated.

Thanks Jill .....I can imagine that must be a fantastic sight.

Love both the Water Lily and the Poppies shots. The strong shadow on the Water Lily works quite well against the light just on the Lily.

Thank you Stan (y)

Thanks for taking the time to look in Matt.

Thanks Allan ...yes I was really pleased with the light.

The light makes the lilly a real atmospheric photo, nice compo as well well done.

Thank you Walter :)

Thank you Nigel and Paul ....I did try it with a lift, but I felt it lost the lovely light a bit, so I left it :)

Busy, busy this week and I didn't want to fall behind so it was a quick walk around the garden to find something. Last year we had loads of spiders webs, which I thought would fit the theme well, but I couldn't find one today. So I decided on this one, an Allium 'actively' making seeds ready for next year ....I know, it's a bit of a shoehorn and a bit boring , I'll put it on the re-shoot list

Active

Active TP 2016 by Susiejb, on Flickr

I love Alliums we have a few in the garden though they are well past it now, works well enough for me

Beautifully colourful Susie - it's shape & spikes makes for quite a dramatic image.

A shoehorn it ay be Susie but it's still a cracking photo love the colours and detail

Hi Susie,
There is quite a delicate feel to the water lily and I think it works well against the dark water and green pads. The poppies work well too but I think I agree with your choice of the water lily.
Active - A bit of a horned shoe yes, but a good crisp shot none the less :)

Hi Susie,
"active" may be a shoehorn, but it is a great well composed photo!

Shoehorn or not Susie it's still a great photo;)

"active" may be a shoehorn, but it is a great well composed photo!

Thank you very much all ...I'm pleased that you liked it :)

Funnily enough I was just this minute contemplating a bowl of cherries !!! Great minds Susie - like it.

Striking image for activity Susie, nicely focused.

Love the bowl of cherries, great idea nicely lit

Is that to eat them or photograph them Carl :) mine got less by the minute, grandson kept eating them and making them fall over!

You have made a plain image look really interesting like the PP you have done,
nice bowl of cherries my favorite.

Thank you Walter ....I tried a white bowl too but preferred the glass one.

Striking image for activity Susie, nicely focused.

Love the bowl of cherries, great idea nicely lit

Thanks Chris ....bit of a rush job but I think it's turned out alright.

Size - great detail the pin highlights the size and I like the jaunty angle
Sign - well composed I like the shadows
Flora - Wow the Water Lily is great I like the way the light is on the flower the Poppies are pretty too but the lily is a stunning picture
Active - A shoe horn maybe but a great picture
Life - I like the dark red against the black the glass bowl works well

Life is well lit Suzy love the reds you have achieved but, there is always a but isn't there, its a little floaty it needs a reflection maybe to anchor it down or perhaps crop the bottom to fairly close to the bowl and move the writing

Nicely presented Susie, it works well and bang on theme too.

I had to google that reference, Judy Garland huh?
I was thinking it should be a Minestrone, served up with parmasan cheese.

But anyway ;) I like what you've done there. Allan may have a point regarding cropping it differently, but all in all, it's nicely imagined and taken.

Active may be a bit of a shoehorn Susie but it's a cracking photograph and I wouldn't change anything about it.

Bowl of cherries is just my kind of take on a theme but I couldn't have done it as well as that. Spot on :clap:

That's a great picture Susie. Well lit and processed.

Hi Allan @alsjazzera ...it's the BUTS that spur me on to do better :) I did do a different crop with it close to the bowl and the writing to the right, but it seemed to look too much 'in your face' and I wanted to throw it back, I could perhaps still have positioned it more to the the left which might have looked better.

Hi, Susie, liking the idea.

Looks slightly OOF?? but I do like the text and slightly under exposed processing.

Cheers

Thanks Andy @posiview yes, shame on me, it is slightly OOF, and I knew it was. I'm annoyed with myself for rushing it as I think it could be better.

Nicely presented Susie, it works well and bang on theme too.

Thank yoooo Cobra :)

Thanks Tim ...I didn't actually know where the saying came from o_O...I just knew the saying and thought it would fit the theme, yes, I agree with Allan, have answered him above.

I like that Susie love the lighting and processing

Thank you Mark (y)
