Spartacus’s 52s (continued) Week 52 Texture

I like the idea, not sure you've quite pulled it off to be honest. Perhaps a slightly wider angle would have been better.
To me the brown leaves signifies the end of things, but I suppose that presents the chance for a fresh start too. I've defeated my own argument haven't I!:bonk:

I'm afraid I have to agree with Mark on this one. doesn't do it for me I'm afraid...sorry!

I like it.

Nice lighting and sprinkling of dew on the leaves and cobwebs. I think I would have liked a slightly wider angle compositionally, but then we might have lost some of the detail.

I'm not sure that it really says Fresh Start . . . more like "ending" or dare I say it "season".
It really wasn't much of a theme to start with though, so  to that, this week.

Let's admit it. A lot of people kind of hammered a photo to fit into this weeks theme! (especially me! shh don't tell anyone :suspect:) Anyway, it's still a great photo.

You know what, I look at other peoples "ah it will do photos" on their 52s... and then thinking I should give up photography! I have a lot of practice ahead of me :D

First thing sorry for missing last week’s Passion, it was one of those nightmare times we all have now and again.

So because I didn’t get time to do mine I’ve not look at a single one of yours... but I will at sometime soon...

That means today has been a play around day trying to do both weeks in one...

I’m not worried if you don’t comment on the Passion I just didn’t want to fall any further behind and I know it’s a bit naff if I say so myself, but it fits the theme and I really didn’t have that much time to waste on the rubbish idea...

As for water I’ve done two, the first one I like because it gave me a chance to use the macro which I sadly make little use of even though when I do I’m amazed all over again on the amount of fun you can have with it...

So here you have it Passion for Photography (and collecting kit):D

Passion.jpg

Water 1... Just wanted to get some close up shots of water droplets...

Water1.jpg

Water 2... This was a play around idea and didn’t really work to well, but as I spent so much time trying to get the shot to work I just had to put it in (sorry)
The idea was to get a bottle of water in the water droplet, yes I know it not that good but it took ages for me to work out how to do this...

Water2.jpg

Phew back on track now so looking forward to seeing all your great photo's from last week and this week...

Passion - like the idea but the shadows are bothering me.

Water #1 - Great abstract, could have looked messy but the veins (or whatever you call them) of the leaf make for strong composition.

Water #2 - I think you know this isn't your finest work so I'll just say well done for trying something new and working out how to make the refraction work ;)

Passion - yep we all have it :) Only niggle is a lean to the right!

Water #2 ok but a little noisy but.....

Water #1 #1 #1 #1 #1 #1 - I love it!!! That I would blow up large and stick on a wall! Truly beautiful shot! :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Agree with DS on passion. Looks like it needs to be leveled.

Agree with DS on the #1 water photo. It's fantastic!

Passion: Love the sentiment, but I agree with everybody else (including you, I think) that it's not your best shot. Well done for getting it done, though.

Water #1 John's hit the nail on the head - that's the nail to go in the wall to hold the huge canvas you should have done of this. Superb

Jean

Wow! I really like your first water one. Brilliant!:clap:
And the passion one? That one just makes me jealous of all your lenses! :p

Passion... not sure... the background has a weird cross hatching thing going on, and I can't read the writing on the lenses clearly...

Water... the first one is superb as has already been said. The second one has rather a lot of noisy empty space... This is something I was trying and I'd have to agree it's real hard..

Passion - only problem with this shot is it features Canon!! ;)

Water shot is superb!! top marks

Passion - like the interpretation of the theme and nice layout of the equipment. Not quite doing it for me though . . . I think it's the shadows.
Let's not dwell on that though, because your water shots are absolutely superb !!!!!

No.2 : What a great idea and I'm hugely impressed that you managed to get that bottle of water in. Ok it's not quite there, but it's still an amazing effort.

No.1 :
Brilliant !
All I can do is agree with the comments about getting this onto a canvas.

Love the composition on passion :D

Both your water shots are really good and right up my street

I can only agree with what's already been said, Water 1- print it now and hang it on a wall...stunning shot.

Passion - reminds me of my Highlight shot with the Manga highlighters. My heart wasn't in it , I didn't have the Passion for it. Shadows are a bit harsh and looks like it needs a straighten, but hey, you've caught up :clap:

Water #1 - only 2 words for this - FRAME IT!

Water # - not in the same league but very clever nonetheless

Out of Context was a bit difficult for me to get my head around this week, but I’ve managed two and a shot from a wedding I did back in July...:$...ok that’s a cheat but I still like the shot and wanted to share it with you...

But you don’t need to comment on all or even any of this week’s shots. I’m just glad to have a few shots to show you after last week’s terrible Passion shot...

I’ve relooked at it and I’m embarrassed it looks so bad...guess I feel a reshoot coming on for that one...:gag:

Out of the first 2 I think the second is excellent! It made me chuckle, very much dark humor but I like it a lot  The first photo is an excellent idea which I never thought of. But second photo just outshines it so much for me. :)

Very funny wedding shot too! I like

Well I like all three but I'm going to have to go for the second one -

#1 - Great idea but I'm not loving the BG, just blue sky and clouds would have been lovely.

#2 - I also like a bit of dark humour and I like the B&W treatment

#3 - Bang on theme and made me chuckle... but not taken for the 52 so I've decided to rule it out :p

I like all 3.

No.1 1 is a clever interpretation. I love the angle of the shot. There's some lovely blue sky and somebody else's washing blowing in the background.
No.3 made me smile. Definitely a wedding shot with a difference.

No.2 is the absolute winner for me though.

I obviously share the dark sense of humour, because I think this one is outstanding!
I love the composition and the contrasty B&W conversion and it's a great take on the theme.
I'm just trying to figure out of you stumbled across this or if you actually visited the cemetery with an aerial in tow.

p.s. Passion is really not THAT bad :)

Sarah must have read my mind - I agree totally. :)

Well done on coming up with such a creative trio for a difficult theme.

Jean

Well done Marcus, a great set of 3 for a tough theme... I'm with the others and obviously also share that somewhat dark sense of humour... #2 is my pick here.

Thanks for the positive response so far...

Yes I did take the aerial to the grave yard...:$

I did feel a little guilty with this one and checked with the wife if it was a bit to much...but she went along with it and even carried it in a bag till nobody was looking...

Out of Context: I like them all!

My favourite of the three you've shown us is the first one: "the finish line" - I love the title! It's really well composed, and the colours are great.

The second one is also a great shot. I have a penchant black-and-white shots and the dark humour in this one appealed to me - some people just don't want to miss their Eastenders I suppose! :cuckoo:

The third one certainly fits the theme. It's a great shot but I think I'd prefer a bit more use of DoF to throw the figures in the background out of focus a bit more.

Well done!
I'll have to have a think about my take on this theme now...

I like them all but if I had to choose it would be 2, for the reasons already given. :)

That's a bit of cop out reply isn't it, I just can't add anything though....sorry:bonk:

Flippin' heck, you're as bad as me

#2 is by far and away FANTASTIC, great conversion and conjures up all kinds of stories in my head. It's one I would have as a postcard stuck to my fridge door so I could laugh everytime I opened the door.

#1 is also a clever idea although the background is a bit distracting and #3 is definitelty out of context.

Well done for giving us such choice this week :clap::clap:

Love all three, but the devil in me prefers No 2 :clap:

I can't believe that you made your wife carry it for you!

Personally, I don't think it's too much.
You can't see the names on the gravestone and in years to come (hopefully many years) if somebody wanted to take a shot like that of my headstone I'd find it humorous rather than offensive!

So here we are week 42, only another 10 more weeks...:(

This has turned out to a better week than I first thought, I enjoyed last week’s Out of Context and I think this week was a great one to try something new...

Trouble is I’ve got the same problem of which one I like best, so it’s up to you to pick for me...it’s only two, there were more but they were binned for these two...:$

 out of context shots, very good! I like the first one best, the last one is funny, too.

Bubbles I like the second shot, awesome!

Your out of context shots are brilliant, humorous and well taken!

Love the 'finish' shot and the graveyard one - well seen!

The 2nd bubbles shot is, as Shorty says, awesome!!!

Very nice shots Marcus!!!

ooooh, I like both of these a lot... I think the second shot has to take the prize though

I can tell that you enjoyed this week - and two brilliant shots to show for it.

Just to be difficult I prefer No.1.
I don't know what I'm looking at, but I love it
The colours and the sensation of those bubbles rising up is fantastic!
Even the bubbles have bubbles in them and the oof bubbles in the background finish it off perfectly.

Second one does come very close though. Lovely abstract feeling again, but I think I'd prefer it with the lens flare cloned out.

Oooh, like these both, but definitely #1 the preference for me. It really sparkles...

I'll have to vote for shot #2 as well . Really interesting shot. Love the way the OOF parts draw you into the focal point of the bubbles.

My favourite is #1 - the colours and the placement of the bubbles are really pleasing, and the OOF lights behind finish it perfectly. How on earth did you do it?

Excellent on both shots Marcus... I'm going to go with the first one
