Spartacus’s 52s (continued) Week 52 Texture

You know... I prefer the gingerbread man... The first one is on theme though. Well done on such a "pain"ful week

Merry Christmas Marcus

I'm sorry I've got so behind with comments on the 52 - it must be Christmas, or something! :)

Music: You're right about the lead in lines, they work really well. I like the composition with the eye being drawn to Jack Vetriano's 'Dance to the end of Love'. As you say, you can love music just be listening to it. :)

Pain: Wow a bumper feast! Anadin shot - the colours look good and I like the slight reflection on the right. The perspective looks a bit like my efforts at drawing a box, though. It doesn't dtract, I just wondered how you achieved it. :D

Gingerbread men - this made me smile, bang on theme and witty with it. Lovely

Thank you for the Merry Christmas photo, too. Cheers - I hope you have a great time.

Jean

Love the Anadin shot but the Gingerbread man with the broken leg on it's own is a winner for me.

And good to see what you look like, after all, you've seen a lot of me this year

Merry Christmas

Music....lovely composition. I like this a lot

Pain, well it was a pain in the a***, but you've got a very passable shot. I have to plumb for the poor gingerbread man though as the shot ;)

Happy xmas to you too

Jon

Guess it’s been the same for everyone this week so it’s a fill in shot I’m afraid...:(

I had hoped I would come up with a stroke of genius...:bang: but it never happened, so I give you 5 a day...

Plus a bottle of something...well it ‘s Christmas after all...

It’s a local brew about 15 miles or so away...I was told it’s very popular in Ireland...

It was a Christmas present and I’ve never tasted it before so should be interesting...:D

I like these . Perhaps the lighting is a bit harsh on the vegetables, but it certainly makes them sparkle.

Have you tried the Buckfast yet? It's known here as "Wreck the Hoose Juice" :D

Sorry Marcus - I completely missed your pain shots. And what great shots they are too!

The first one is spot on theme, well-lit and beautifully sharp, but I just love your Gingerbread men
Brilliantly executed and they brought a smile to my face.
A belated Merry Christmas to you too.

Health : This has been a nightmare week to try to get anything done, so well done on getting your shot in. Maybe not the most exciting interpretation, but I think we're all in the same boat this week.

No crowbar in sight, good lighting and lovely and sharp - I don't think there's anything to complain about with this one.
At first glance I thought the composition was a bit too symmetrical, but it's growing on me. I like the way that the arrangement of the carrots adds some depth to the image.

That "tonic wine" looks interesting too . . . have you tried it yet?

Thanks Sarah, yes it a bit boring I was getting a bit desperate...

I went with the 5 carrots, 4 sprouts, 3 apples, 2 oranges, and a turnip thinking I was sort of playing on the 5 a day theme... ya I know rubbish...but was so glad to get anything in really...

Simple but effective - I think arranging still life is a killer and I'm not sure you have helped yourself with the white BG. Arranged in a nice rustic basket or something may have added more interest. Well done for getting the shot in a busy week though

:bonk: Obvious now that you've said it, but that totally passed me by the first time round - and that was a really clever idea too

I like this shot, just a tad over lit if i'm being picky ;)

Or even a 12 days of xmas Marcus ;)..

5 Orange Carrots,
4 Brussel Sprouts
3 Fine Apples
2 Clementines
and a Turnip in the back

I like it, the not quite symmetry has worked well.

First can I give all the 52s who have made it all the way to the finish line a big...

I think it started around 30ish and only 11 made it to the finish line.
I’m sorry we lost a few along the way; especially Dizzy & Hyster who I think produced some fantastic photography for this challenge.

I’d like to thank Simon for starting this challenge and giving me the kick in the butt I needed to use my camera more creatively, but the biggest thank you goes’ to all the lovely people I’ve met on the 52s challenge original and new comers for your constructive criticisms and support on those bad weeks we were all getting...

I won’t be taking part in the next 52s in the New Year, due to work commitments and a promise to Mrs Spartacus of a revamp of the house.

I will be looking when the opportunities arise and although I may not comment on every body I will be interested and follow your progress...

I wish you all good luck for your 52s for 2010...;)

So here you have my very last shot for these 52s,

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL...

I'm starting the New Year with a Catch up! Sorry I got behind - I can't imagine why!

Health: We had similar idea on the '5 a day' theme, but yours is much more interesting, more colourful and well composed. I like the carrots as lead in lines, and it works well. Definitely not a fill in shot.

Tonic Wine: Sounds just the job for these cold winter days! The shot works well, but, being nosey and liking to read labels, I would have liked a slightly lower pov. But still, big well done on getting 2 shots in on the busiest week of the year.

WEEK 52: Texture: Wow, I really love this. It's got colour, impact and texture in spades. Gorgeous.:clap:

Well done, Marcus for making it to the end. I didn't realise there were only 11 of us left. I'm sorry you won't be joining the mad band of 52ers next year - we'll miss you. Big thank from me for all the encouragement, support and constructive comments you've made and, most of all, for entertaining us with such fabulous images.

Of course, we hope to see creative pics of the house revamp, instead. :)

Happy New Year

Jean

Wow!

You're really going out on a high.
Some beautiful colours there, love the composition and lovely lighting.

Well done on making it all the way to the end.
It's a shame that you're not joining again next year, I've really enjoyed this thread. Hopefully you'll still pop in from time to time to check on the rest of us and I'll look out for your stuff on the rest of the forum.

A load of textures there Marcus, excellent shot, lovely colours.

Well done on making it to the end, and thanks for your comments throughout the year.

Nice couple of shots to finish off the set! And I have to laugh at the Buckfast shot . I'm Irish and can confirm that it's better known as the loopy juice in parts although I prefer to call it "f***ed fast"

Well done on finishing the set

Ah bad me - sorry Marcus I missed Pain, Health and Texture

So Pain :): Love 'em both but the Gingerbread man gets points for raisng a big smile at this end :)

Health:Love the idea of the veg, but prefer the execution of the wine shot :) If you get me! :D

Texture: Nice idea and well thought out and presented!

Sorry you won't be joining us for 2010 :)

Thanks for your support and I've enjoyed your images over the last year :D!

Lovely lighting and colours on this one - a good shot to finish with! Well done :clap:
