Simon's 52 for 2025

Week 23 - Bark

When looking for some inspiration for this week's theme, this caught my eye. A nice juxtaposition between the bark oof the sapling, and the bark-less wooden stake.

Week 24 - Street Photography

On holiday in Lake Garda this week. Today have been to Verona so a nice opportunity for some street photography

This one taken outside a church on a back street. I was rather taken by the lady on the bench resting her head on her husband's shoulder.

Hmmmmm... an ok shot but needs the most difficult part of the genre. Get closer!

Good take and handling of the bright conditions. I kinda feel like the light post creates 2 separate shots between the bench people and the steps people, potential crops perhaps?

Thanks Ryan. Yes, I see what you mean. I’ll have a play around when I get back from hols along those lines. Good shout.

I think that I agree with most of the comments, I would have tried to focus on either the people on the bench or the group in the doorway. Maybe using a sneakier "shoot from the hip" technique.

Thanks Bill - not used to that sort of intimate candid stuff so need to practice.

It's not too intimidating because no-one knows that you're taking the shot. You set up your expected focal distance ahead of time with a f-stop that will give some depth of field and then have your camera down at your side pointing in their general direction and take a few shots as you walk by....easy/peasy...I might get one good shot out of 30 or 40...

Week 25 - Snapper's Choice

Just back from a week in Lake Garda. Too many photos to go through in a hurry, but here's one I particularly like of some mooring/jetty posts close to our hotel in Bardolino

Yep - nice shot :)

Its a very calming image, nice colour in the posts the reflections are nice.

Nice shot Simon, I'm always looking for old piers and mooring posts to shoot. These would be good ones.

Very nice shot, I think I quite like the wobbly reflections! Hope you had a great time away

Week 26 - Transport

Sorry folks - bit of a cheat this time. The week got away from me - busy weekend and then three consecutive days of golf (and it's going to be the same next week!)

So here's my transport offering from a week before when we were in Lake Garda on holiday.

Good shot, love the way that the old bike has been repurposed.

Well even if it were a cheat it's vey nice, like how the flower and bike colours are similar, probably same colour in cafe?

Week 27 - Deserted

Another week, another quick and dirty submission (literally) as I'm off on a 3 day golf trip so no other time for photography.

We're in the middle of having our old crappy conservatory torn down and a new one with a proper roof installed. This is normally full of "stuff" but is currently deserted.
