Only that you have to be careful using B/W.....the guitar player would also look good in B/W, but IMHO the conkers in the grass (and some other back ground grass shots) would look better in colour.
 
Thanks Brian. To be honest I set myself a challenge to try and capture Autumn in b&w on 1 roll of film, so some of the images work better than others. I think I need to try again when Autumn starts properly.

I've always found B/W more difficult than colour, and out of 1000's of B/W negs can't think of any winning great shots to boast about, but was pleased once with my efforts doing large B/W prints in a large plastic drum:-

i like the idea/composition of 1, 2 and 4 but think it's a good example of where colour would be better..........:thinking:

Well - it's been a while since I posted anything, but at the risk of being boring again, here's a couple from my walk last Wednesday. Sadly it was a bit misty :shrug:

Both shot on Velvia 100F, home souped in Tetenal E6 kit, and scanned on Canoscan 8800F/Silverfast SEplus

A few boring ones again - strapped the XA2 to the windscreen clamp on the way home last night and let it go... it sets it's own exposure times and all I did was press the shutter now and a gain and wind on :D

It's not a scratch - I reckon it's a moth...
 
I assume the clamps on the inside of the screen, either that or you've been borrowing arms from Mr Tickle :lol: Interesting proof of concept, but to be honest Arthur, I think this is one time where a colour film would have been better - headlamps, tail-lights, and any bits of residual colour in the sky... I'll say one thing though - it's certainly an idea for Challenge 03 :thumbs:
 
I only wanted to finish the roll in a hurry so I could cook it :lol:

I have one of those windowsuctionclamptripodmount thingies, very handy :thumbs:
 
Well I had a similar problem in that I had one shot to go, so erm lets not only check this Kodak color plus 200asa expired in 2006 for quality also how it handles shadows and highlights, well I think a Tesco scan did quite well:-

I think that the combined weight of the EOS-3 and 17-40L would probably finish off the screen on my Audi, theres already a bullethole in the nearside bottom of the screen. :lol:

Lol.

Those are IMO the best shots i've seen from you. Not sure about the scanning and I can think of far better weather for Velvia but compositionally they are really good. Top stuff.

I've just bought some of that with the same date on it..... Looks good!!!

Thanks - to be honest, I nearly didn't bother posting them at all - I pretty much cocked up the developing - I think they needed a good 30 seconds longer in the first dev. and came out far too dark (i'd misplaced the tally list of how many film's i'd souped with the chemicals, and they're on their way out tbh) - the scanner was working overtime to get anything out of 'em and I'm really not happy to be honest. It really wasn't a Velvia day, but that's all the colour film I had with me, so to be honest I'm happy to get anything out of 'em - especially the second one which was just a handheld grab shot. I know what you mean about lack of impact... to me it's missing the big sod-off mountain (Fleetwith Pike??) in the background :lol:

Still - every shot you stuff up is an opportunity to get it right next time :shrug:

The book arrived a couple of days ago, yep. It's a real blast from the past - I actually remember they had the self same book in the school library when I was first messing about with black and white developing and printing. :thumbs:
