Show us yer film shots then!

?? I dont want the thread closed....

just an extra thread to show all the posts since [say] 01-01-2010.

this would save wait ages to load 72 pages just to read a post done today

i understand it would be tidier to have this cleaned up, but I don't quite understand why can't you just skip to the last page?

Edit: John got there first!

well, that said, there are 44 images on page 71, what with quotes and misc posts....that has to take a while to load up on a slow connection.
Is there a way to shorten the pages...

Had a go at sharpening this ^ but on closer inspection I think you shot wide open, sharpening it made it look poop because there is hardly any sharp to sharpen...
Nothing worse than sharpened oof and bokeh..
I've got some great scans from kodachrome recently, I haven't posted any because I reckon I blitzed 2 rolls with virtually 72 nothing shots...

I've shot wide open with this lens plenty of times and it's never been this fluffy. It's the same with stopped down shots. Anyway I've been reading many forums of similar problems, especially with my scanner (epson 4490). Think Nikon scan does the best job with kodachrome :bang:

It would be a disaster to do away with this thread. Get a faster Internet connection. Look at a page a day or so. I have told and linked to this thread to many friends because of its love for film.

I agree- it'd be a crying shame to drop the hammer on this thread - aside from the fact that it's pretty much the only place I dare post photo's on TP (okay - here and the POTY thread) without having to "justify" the fact that they weren't shot on a digital camera, there's just so much information tucked away in here between the photo's.

Fair enough if the thread was split as seems to be TP's normal setup - i.e. no more than 999 posts per thread, with a link to the next section. Then Sticky the various component parts. Sooner or later this thread will grind the server's hamsters into the ground.

Perhaps people can stop quoting images in their responses, that way the same image won't be loaded up more than once per page.

I like the look of the Ektar images posted, so have got a roll to try. Got mine from AG Photographic and it is cheaper that 7dayshop

NEVER ASKED FOR IT TO BE CLOSED.......:bang:

your second paragraph is what I was trying to explain ...thanks...

Problem is, I've a sneaky feelin that there are people out there that are itching to just kill off this thread altogether. Perhaps because they feel we should be posting in the normal photo-sharing sections. If this was the case, I'd probably stop posting, as I'm thoroughly sick of explaining that "no-it was shot on black and white film - there IS NO COLOUR version, I didn't have the second body loaded with colour on me that day", then spending the rest of the thread defending my wishes to shoot on film.

*shudder*

Have I put this one up already?

thanks - tried that
it sets the number of posts/page, not the number of posts to be displayed
so the whole thread still loads

all I suggested was the thread be split into, say years, after all are people still commenting on posts 1-2 years old....?

ok if like me you want to read from the beginning, the download time is acceptable [even at 1MB] but after that why download the whole thread to read the last post ?.......

somebody explain how and I WILL eat humble pie............

.
....may have shot myself in the foot..................

clicking on last post - the whole thread loads
but only when I click on say, page 45, do the images on "that" page start to download

is that correct..?

so if i read page 1 then 2 then 3 etc each page has to download
no wonder i though it was slow.............:bonk:

apologies to all

If you skip straight to the last page only the page that you skip too will load. If you click through each page then they'l all load.

So pressing film and conventional, then hitting last page on the topic will only load the last page.

Sorry ...cannot talk now....mouth full of "humble pie"...........:$

it still loads the WHOLE thread............:D

Nope, it loads the whole page of the last post you read. not the whole thread.

I agree with The Big Yin, its where tend to post the majority of my images too, I don't need them critiquing or justifying. I just like posting the film pictures up for the sake of it.

I doubt if there's that many people actually looking at this thread compared to the rest of the site and if people stop double posting pictures we should keep some of the load off the servers.

The first one is especially brilliant, how sharp is that? I think I need to get some of that fillum you used.

Andy

Why not start a new thread then? Ask for this one to be made sticky... link last in this thread to first in new one - simples

Oooo, that's got some spread of shades..

It just about saves you from the hell and damnation you'd suffer for the shopped Kodachrome hoose...

All processed at Tesco, thought i buggered up the ektar after shooting it two stops under but it seems okay. Hence Tesco processing! Will send the next few rolls of poundland stuff to club35 though, it seems more than usable.
I might send some of these to be rescanned too, they all look a bit washed out and most are full of dust spots.

Wow, that's pretty saturated for Pro 160s kjevans, did you scan them? Nice shots nonetheless.

+1. I agree.

Hi,

Here goes, first attempt with 'filum'

Kodak Portra 160VC. Nikon F3 - 50mm F2

Caught her without permission i.e. no make-up, no 'pose' etc. Straight from the neg'/scan and resized and put a border on (for the heck of it!)

Thanks

Hi,

Kodak Portra 160VC. Nikon F3 - 50mm F2

The perfect combination of quality film and quality camera. Nice candid shot, it's my favorite color print film

Yeah, I remember the hair :D

A couple of shots from Local Sculpture Park last week - decided to try out a roll of the LegacyPro 100. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it :)

shot on Canon A-1, 50mm f1.8 (wide open), LegacyPro 100, Ilfosol 3 1+9, Canoscan 8800F, Silverfast SE

Going a bit soft again there BY? Nice though.

Just out of focus background portrait practice with someone who doesn't complain at how long I mince around getting my self together ;)

To be honest, I've taken a few with the 50mm 1.8 at wide open and missed the focus slightly, so I thought I'd better go practice it a bit, and if I still couldn't get it, maybe it was time for a visit to the opticians

Where from and how much?

The completely unrelated Fuji Acros 100 is £3.06 from Silverprint and I can get that without postage but if Legacy Pro is cheaper I'll give that a look.

Digitaltruth - 2.49 a roll, 1.99 if you buy 10 rolls, post was 2.95 for 5 rolls when I got it - think postage is on sliding scale though :(
