weekly *Sarah* 2012 52 week challenge. Yippee I made it!!

Oh very very clever, I love that, and you did well to get the exposure right too!

Hi Sarah

Well done on coming up with a novel idea of using the banknotes. Good colours, good detail and again the use of an odd number of items (it comes up time and again in these discussions). Good work:thumbs:

Thanks Alan, I was thinking of Posiview (Andy) when I set this one up and made sure I had an odd number. I new that 3 was the number when gardening but hadn't really thought about it in photography.

This challenge certainly makes you look at things differently - I wouldn't have taken any of these shots without it as landscape is more my thing but I must admit to enjoying the table top set ups as well!:)

Hi Sarah
How weird we chose the same theme and posted at the same time. Initially I was going to shoot with the sky like yours but mist meant too pale blue and white.
I like the BG on yours making the notes stand out and their colour is good. I also like your handmade idea, sharp in detail and colourful. For sweet, the honeycomb #2 is great with the light picking out all the iregularities.

Surely you mean....

Thank you Darren, I'd like to say that I planned the holographics but it was a bit of luck as the I was so determined to get it right tha I had to wait for near on a half hour until a breeze moved the notes a little and just caught the light!:)

Thanks John, I wonder if the same will happen this week!

coo you're rich :-) lovely shot

'Money' -Thats's a really nice image and great concept. I like the way you have used the same coloured pegs too

Ooh I wish, its my sons and its a very small part of his payment on a new trumpet - I thought cameras were expensive!!

Thank you Nick, I did debate with myself whether to stick to the wooden pegs but decided to go for the matching ones instead, I'm glad you noticed!:)

Been difficult again this week. I had a couple of ideas in mind but then got ill again ( the joy of working in reception class),
The joy of children, I've been defeated by the same issue!

Sorry Sarah I missed your handmade. Lovely DOF, colours, detail and lighting:thumbs: The wooden needles add a nice bit of contrast to it.

I love the combination of blues in the money shot. The background looks great and the notes jump out as all being lovely and tack sharp. The holograms add to it as they're all coloured differently.

My only criticism, and I'm not sure if it's really an issue but the note on the left is narrower than the note on the right? So did you shoot down the line as opposed to square on? Or is it just my poorly eyeballs:thinking:

Hi Marsha, I hope you are starting to feel better! The Money one was taken at a slight angle, I had wanted to shoot more down the line but couldn't get a clean background (too many trees, fences etc) so I had to settle for less money and a different angle for this one. The 'washing line' was an old cable stretched between a tree and bird feeder as my washing line is a rotary one and it caused too many shadows from the other lines on it.

HI Sarah

chuckled when I saw your money shot....great thinking , lovely blues

Inspiration is sorely lacking for me this year....might have to borrow some of yours for the next theme I'm stuck on

Another great idea on your money image.

Thanks Phil!:)

Thanks Lynne, I've surprised myself with some of my ideas on these themes - the difficult bit has been :)taking them!!

When people ask you what do you do on a Wednesday night I bet not many of you reply - I cleaned some snails with a toothbrush:eek: and then tried to take photos of them racing!!

I came up with this idea on Saturday but forgot that snails hibernate! I checked on google and you can wake them by bringing them into a warm house but they might not wake for days or even weeks! I decided in a moment of madness to find some in my garden and find them a nice warm home inside. I've checked them everyday and yesterday they woke up!:)

I then printed a race track and set the lights up ready to go! I found out the hard way that they aren't well trained and can't go in a straight line. One decided to either barge the others or try to escape by turning round and going for it, one decided to eat the track!! Anyway in the end after many shots and threatening them with France and garlic:) I managed to get these! I will try again tomorrow to get some more - wish me luck!!

Wow, you certainly are dedicated to this project!! Great idea and I appreciate it's a very difficult task to photograph subjects who don't take directions - especially when you're trying to squeeze a few of them into the frame. Good thing they're not very fast! Anyway, very well done I think. #1 is my favourite out of the two you've posted so far.

Thank you!

Great stuff Sarah! Now that's dedication! Both great shots

Dedication or Madness!!:)

Great idea, lol. I think the second one is the slightly better one personally.

Thanks, I can't decide which but might change my mind if I take more tonight!

Absolutely love the idea. Brilliant!!!!! Think number one takes it for me, but even if you didn't take a good shot I really don't think it would matter lol. Best idea I've seen yet.

Fantastic shot, really like the idea and the final shots.
I prefer #2 but do like the fact that their is more than one snail in #1.

oh well done  I thought of this but decided it was far too much effort to get the snails to come out  I read up on snail racing too, seems quite popular hee hee

Hahahahaha, brilliant! I had been thinking about snails too, but no motivation yet this week.

I think you've done well. Number one shows more of a winner to me. All you need is a little finish line;-)

Thanks Marsha, it is soo difficult to get motivated some weeks isn't it, I was going to try and take some more but think I might give it a miss! I did try a finish line but it looked like it was cutting them in half!

Thanks Phil, roll on next week. I'm wondering what poor creature I'll be trying to train for the next theme!!

Love it, though right at the last moment you've stolen my crown for capturing fast moving sports action :bat:

I like the second one best, as it looks less false, and he even looks as if he's holding his antennae up in victory!

I have placed a call with the RSPCA, but they haven't got back to me yet. Poor buggers were having a lovely kip, and you come along, wake them up, then complain because they aren't exactly in the mood for a jog! ;)

Thank you Garreth, it's far easier to get one snail going the right way!

Thanks, maybe we could set a snail racing group as well! It took far more effort to keep them moving in one direction!

Awesome
What a great idea, your a genius
Like both shots.

Thanks Darren, much appreciated but not sure about the genius bit!!:)

Thank you, them poor snails are having a fine feast and will no doubt attack my garden when released back when it's warmer!! I think might start signing autographs soon!!

I'll have to put the outakes on soon where you can see how much fun they had and why I was getting cross with them!!

'Win' love it and very creative. Bet they hated the toothbrush though !

So what's the plan now? Baked snails in garlic butter served with a crispy bacon citrus and bitter leave salad with a glass or two of Pessac Leognan or just release them back into the wild ?

Brilliant result this weeke well done you

Thanks Nick, I still can't believe I sat her cleaning snails shells with a toothbrush, what you do for photography! I might skip the food and just go straight for the glass or two of something alcoholic!!:)

Hi, when I first saw them I thought you'd superimposed them in PS!

Like them, especially #2.

Just looked at #2 again and laughed.

Thanks. :thumbs::thumbs:
