Well done on catching up!, Like those 2 a lot. Lighting is great on week 4, and week 5 is brilliant.
Thanks! At least I see I'm not the only one doing the catchup game this week - I think there's about 4 of us.Hiya Ray,
Well done for getting up to date with the weeks.
What a co-incidence that week 4 and 5 both have to do with water![]()
That was the plan to get a halo-type effect around the bottle with the light. Took a while, tweaking the position and setup of bottle, light, and camera, but I'm happy with the result.Week 4: Like this one, especially the way the light seems to mimic the shape of the bottle. A nice sharp image and good control of lighting. Especially like the way the shadow at the bottom forms a V. Lovely DOF too. What did you use as the base? it looks very interesting texture.
Thanks, I'm surprised at how well it came out, I thought I'd be re-shooting a different subject. That said, the reflection hadn't bothered me until now - thanks for that.Week 5: Wow, I love this one. It was one of the ideas I had, but also couldn't find a tap with hard water. Well done on the find, even though like you say was hard to find, and well done for being brave enough to take a camera with you into a public loo (or at least I think that is where you were). My only crit would be the harsh light on the tile in the background, otherwise I think it is a fab image.

Thanks for the feedback.Open: I love this lighting so much that I want to have a go at something like this myself now. Do you just fire a flash at the table behind the bottle? Fantastic shot that wouldn't be out of place as an advert in a magazine!
Hard: great take on the theme. I totally did not think of that! The colours have come out great on the tap - crop seems a bit tight on the top of the tap.
With my week 6 photo recreated, that just leaves me with week 7 to catch up on, hopefully in the next few days.... go me!
Thanks for the feedback.Hi Ray
great idea for Clutter but makes my blood boil that people just dump stuff:bang: Like the angle & the neatness of the field to the left ,great shot
Nice idea for Chaos (I'm still thinking bout what I'm gonna do !) & works perfectly for the theme . Right place , right time & having your camera to hand![]()
to those who have jumped their rubbish to clutter up our countryside/roadsides. Anyhooo, sorry about the rant, and back to your photo .... I think you have got a great shot there to document the evidence. Perhaps send that into a local paper, I'm sure they would have a story for it.
A subject that I did a mini project on last year, so I always love looking at these very delicate plants. This is a lovely close up with nice DOF and fine detail.
Since both comments so far have shown anger at the photo, I guess it has done its intended job. Sadly all too much of it around. I do like the little irony of the labelling of the container in the bottom left, though.drodd said:Hiya Ray,
You have done a good job with your catchup, now I have to catchup on your pics
Week 6: It just p's me off to see how people dispose of their rubbish like thatto those who have jumped their rubbish to clutter up our countryside/roadsides. Please tell me then that I'm not the only one to find it an incredibly tough shot to get - or maybe I just shouldn't even try on windy days!Week 7: When I first saw the photo before reading your storyboard for it, I was thinking where the hell do you live that you already have dandilion clocksA subject that I did a mini project on last year, so I always love looking at these very delicate plants. Nobody injured thankfully. I parked a bit up the road and went back.Week 8: Talk about being in the right place at the wrong time (I hope nobody was injured). Did you jump out of the car to take this shot? as it looks like you are in the ditch. A great shot!
Thanks. Overall not half as happy as I was with the previous few weeks. I think I just have a hard time with the messy overgrown and half-dead grass - it's not something I have fun trying to look decent.Good set and I look forward to your future weeks.
Cheers

I may have a few of them growing on the carpet later this year, especially where the seeds became embedded in the carpet
FYI, if you are interested, here is a link to the mini project I did last year http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=230249Nobody injured thankfully. I parked a bit up the road and went back.

At least he stayed the right way up!rmmackfc said:Looks like a good piece of parking by the lorry!
You are correct though, the number of times I've been in the car and wished I had my camera with me...
Interesting series of photos there, and some fun facts, good work. I wont comment on the thread itself, not being a fan of thread necromancy.drodd said:No, don't worry you are not the only one to find these shots tough, especially when having to contend with the wind. Fortunately, last year I had quite a cultivation of them in my garden (much to my neighbours horror), and at times had to pick a few to get shots of them indoors out of the wind.I may have a few of them growing on the carpet later this year, especially where the seeds became embedded in the carpet

1 - if only! Unfortunately the reality is that if caught they're told "get caught 5 more times and we'll have to give you a mild warning "....posiview said:Hi, Ray, 3 nice one there:
#1, great lead in and nice composition - I agree, if caught they should be forced to clear a mile of the stuff up...
#2, :nono:, cheeky, indeed. Nevertheless, few things are as delicate looking as one of these. Nice composition, I was tempted to say a closer crop would be good, but your take works.
#3, again, I like your composition and I like your processing, nice catch. Small branch/bush lower left is a bit distracting, but with the Police car there, tugging it out may not have been a good idea.
Cheers.
Thanks.Hi ray.
Loved your Chaos shot... and delecate too. Something really here and now about your chaos shot... it feels alive and there is a feeling of trauma! I think its the lights on the road that do that.
I'd have maybe moved forward in front of the out of focus bush...
Great work
Mark
Ray, I've not come across your 52 yet.
You have some lovely images. The sheep is just gorgeous and your style (product shot) is just first class. All your shots are beautifully exposed and I look forward to seeing more of your 52 in the coming weeks
 Thanks guys. I'm putting a lot of effort into improving my skills through this project, and I'm glad you seem to think it's paying off.3 great photos there! Your chaos photo is full of atmosphere, the lights certainly make it.
Top idea for chaos and nice timing on your part. Great use of differential focus too. I love the way that the lorry is just sitting in that field. It is so out of place that to me the chaos is more about the strangely out of place lorry which just seems to be driving through the field than the queue of traffic.
Hi Ray,
Really like your photos for Open, Hard and Delicate!
For open, I love the lighting, and DoF on the floor and how the lid is resting perfectly.
For hard, I like how it's such a different take on the theme from others I've seen (not to say others aren't good at all), but I love how it shows proof of hard water.
The detail in your delicate photo is incredible, perfect in all ways IMO.
Chaos, again, a brilliant photo. This was an idea I thought of earlier in the week when thinking about chaos, but knew I would never have the opportunity to photograph it in less than a week! The most chaos I think people get is from the roads!
Will keep an eye on this 52, I've enjoyed looking at your photos.
Will.

Beautiful snow drop capture ,caught the dew/rain drops really well , spot on with the whiteness & the dark background, top shot![]()

2 by closer crop do you mean on the centre of the dandilion? Hadn't considered that. Hm.
Thanks for the feedback!
Pick yourself up a 50mm prime, they're great for small dof, and dirt cheap too!

Yup good thing I had to reshoot the clutter pic. Not entirely in love with the new one either, but it's way better.Hiya Ray
Well done on finding your week 6 and 7 photos.
6a: Indeed a clutter photo ...... but I still prefer your reshoot pic.
7a: Wow this is beautiful, love everything about it from the composition, colours, DOF, focus and the water drops.
Cheers
