Isn't it amazing what can be done in PP? Just curious, but did you not consider shooting it in B&W rather than converting?
I know I don't generally shoot in B&W as I convert later, but it does make you think doing it in camera first!
Great idea and the B&W conversion makes the image far stronger for me. Are you sure this shouldn't have had a NSFW warning on it

now we know why he has to wait for Jackie and Isabelle to go to bed before he does his shooting *cough*
As Marsha pointed out you could have done it B&W in camera (I'll be trying this myself later lol) but I love the shot - it's very hard to take a photo of yourself![]()
Now, did you get your framing right first time round
The b+w works much better on this pic, and this is going to sound so wrong, but your legs look better in b+w

I'm very glad he did get the crop right![]()
very goodand a cracking idea didn't even cross my mind that kind of change, well its certainly cheered my evening up B+W works better I think and glad you got the crop right

posiview said:I never photograph b&w. I read/heard/saw somewhere that colour to b&w gives you more data to work with.
I don't either as shooting JPEG'S in B&W is something that can't be undone in PP unless you shoot in RAW too. But this was SOOC so I'd have shot it B&W & RAW then compared!

I have to say I agree with Allan. Maybe including some of the hob rather than darkness would pull in a bit more interest. Hadn't thought of natural gas so good thinking for that one.have to say the 1st one for me only because it has more going on but I do like the blue in the second one![]()
Well, maybe not ......
B&W all the way for me....& a big thanks for getting the crop right Hi Matey
OMG....thats a proper pair of legsNovel idea for the theme , god nows what Jackie would have siad if she'd seen you detting up to take this shot
B&W all the way for me....& a big thanks for getting the crop right
Natural....#2 for me...like the colors in #1 but prefer the simplicity & sharpness of #2.....I'd have cropped it square![]()
Hi Andy, not been able to review threads lately due to personal problems so a few catch ups.
Flow - Like this idea and the age of the car just adds something to the shot. Not seen an empty road like this for years.
Friendship - Long time since Ive seen matchstick men. Nice simple composition. Prefer #2 for lighting and long shadows
Change - Cant fault you on the idea for this theme, just hope they were clean. B/W works well. Have also read that you should convert colour to B/W rather than use B/W in camera
Natural - Definitely #1 for me. Colour more natural and provides interest in the red flares

very contrasty & must admit I'd not have guessed it was ice had you not said . The G bugs me...looks back to front ? #1 for me...can see all the letters , #2 although nice in an abstract way the little blurry bits at the edge of the E iritate's me...sorry
I like the gritty nature and detail in the B&W but the separation between the leaves and the floor in the colour.
