weekly Pads 52 project 2016 - Week 7 Danger(ous) Added

Liking this, great reflection and the B&W really sets them off well

right on theme I have nothing to add that has not allready been said

Love the reflection and the darks work really well.(y)

Hi Paul, you are off to a great start. I love the moodiness of your captive image. Its very fitting for the theme. Keep vup the great work :)

Hi All

You could be forgiven for thinking that I had abandoned my 52, but unfortunately I've just had to prioritise family issues quite allot this last couple of weeks.

Anyhow, here is my effort for Abandoned, and I still have 'happy' to catch up on - If I don't get the shot I have in mind this weekend, then I'll put in an archive image to catch up.

I'll be having a big catch up on all of your efforts over the next day or 2. Thanks for looking and any comments that you share.

That's a great find for Abandoned Paul. Looks in good nick too - worthy of restoration. Nicely composed, like all the detail, excellent in b&w. Good luck with the rest of the catch-up.

Spot on with Abandoned Paul nice processing it suits it well

( That looks like a MK1 Hillman Minx ? )

No, this is a Singer Gazelle, which I didn't know existed until I stumbled upon it yesterday. I knew instantly that I had found my abandoned subject.

I'd be tempted to approach the owner about taking it for a restoration job if I had the first clue where to start with something like that - I think It'd be great fun, but I just don't have the knowledge.

Excellent, even rarer (y)

Your'll pick it up as you go along :D
Trouble with things like that, there are loads of info on the web these days but even a minor job takes for ages years probably depending on what needs to be done.

Hi Paul, seem to have missed your thread until now  :$

Old - does what it says! Processing and capture spot on for me, although I find the composition slightly unsettling. Not sure if it's lead-in fence so close in on the left, but it's certainly something which grabs you and keeps you looking. I like it.
Metal - not getting the love for the pylons but the chain is bang on again. Good DOF and processing once more.
Captive - really like what you've done with that photo. Dark exposure and processing works really well with that image. Goes to show that less is sometime more (in this case, saturation) - really effective.
Miniature - I do like the arrangement (and well done for trying an even number of things for a change). Lighting is effective, although I'm not a big fan of being able to see the light source behind.
Abandoned - cracking spot to find that old car. Nicely captured and, again, good B&W processing (spotting a theme here!) Well composed - really good take.

Looking forward to more of yours - and occasionally a colour shot ;)

Abandoned is definitely, well, abandoned! Nothing more to say really other than good shot. I wonder what the colour is like though?

What a find! an old Hillman, no sorry Singer, under that rickety shelter with climbers! A candidate for B&W .... I'm not sure.

Thank you very much, some great feedback. I hadn't actually noticed that all of my shots so far have been de-saturated, and I must admit I do seem to go to B&W in my mind when composing an image. Maybe I'll set myself a challenge within my 52 to go 4 weeks without de-saturating!

Thanks guys, I did take a few different angles and processed in a couple of different ways but I'm still happy that I chose the best one to submit, however for your curiosity.......

Oh, Abandoned is just so bang on....where did you find it!

This was down a bumpy old track that I have to drive down to get to one of the customers I visit. I had no idea it was there, but kept my camera with me all week hoping to find a crashed car or burnt out car at the side of a road, then stumbled on this one.

Great find, like everything about this, framing, light, exposure, processing the lot :)

Thank you very much!!

Colour shots are far better in my eyes! I like the head on shot particularly.

Thanks Ian, funnily enough, as I was framing the head on shot I fully expected it to be the one, but when I got them in lightroom I quickly changed my mind. I think the colour shots show the aging of the car a lot more.

Abandoned - perfect find for the theme! Would love to discover something like this myself - a proper barn find would be awesome! I think I agree with your comment, I think the colour works better than the B&W. Nice work / find Paul!

:agree: With the above last colour image is super shot I do like the B/W but the colour for me(y)

Like the B&W. You gotta ask just how do people leave things like that.

OK, Here is my Camouflage attempt. I'm not happy with it really, it isn't a good shot, but it has given me a first attempt at using layer masks, so although the result isn't great it has been a success for my 52 teaching me new things.

"I see you..."

Well done for trying new things  and as an effect it works pretty well. If I made three changes:
  • Less blur might have given a subtler effect
  • I really wish you'd got your feet in shot
  • It would have been more Predator-like if you'd climbed the tree...

Edit: Missed your Abandoned picture. Great shot of a beautiful old car and I like the way the structure of the shed frames it. B&W processing is spot-on to bring out the detail. With all those overgrown weeds it this covers old, metal, abandoned and camouflaged.

Pretty much what Nick said.

Nice idea and would be interested in seeing an edit.

Cheers.

Cleaver idea Paul

Hi Paul, I much prefer the black and white shot for your Abandoned entry, seems to have more of a feel to it that the colour versions.

Camouflaged, liking the idea maybe a touch too much but I am unsure how you did that as I am useless with PP

:clap:This is like the alien out of Predator. Nicely thought out and like the experimentation. Well done Paul.
