Aye, it's easy to help when the special needs are so apparent

From the pan into the fire he
Not sure why anyone would want to use a gun for suicide. So messy for those left behind to clean up. Besides in Switzerland there is dignitas and the likes.
Sure take some pills instead or use a razor or ask on many of the online forums that will advise you.Dignitas will not end your life simply because you wish it.
It's not a suicide supermarket!
Pan calling kettle ehThis thread's gone weird.![]()
That's a great idea - but expensive. If it can be treated great. If it cannot be ensure the person is kept away from society.
Yup you can tell by all the laughter
Pretty serious subject though to be joking around about it. So many innocents killed. Such mental health issues. I don't think it is funny laughable at all.

...
My frying pans are locked up nice and safe. Are yours?![]()
Amongst othersLe Creuset.
Just sayin'
I'm very drunk and I've got the 'pans out.
Now Wok you on about?I going on a rampage with a skillet then I'm going to turn it on myself.
I suspect that Sigmund Fried would have something to say about all that!We listened to a lot of waffel iron, and simply imagined being attacked with a Browning.. omelette. And ended up with egg on our face.
I saw this on FB today, and whilst you and I think it makes perfect sense, it'll do nothing for conservative Americans (the target audience) in their view someone having an obortion is a killer already, not a potential (but highly unlikely) killer.
In order to return the debate to it's original point.
Surely people can understand that America is unable to ban guns - they tried it with alcohol in the 1920s
Incidentally my American mate lives in a county that has a statute that all home owners MUST keep a gun
If you don't ban them - what do you do?It's not about banning, it's about controlling. Obama made a speech a couple of days ago and in it mentions that those States that have gun control legislation don't have these mass shootings.

If you don't ban them - what do you do?
Some of the first steps will be aimed at making tighter gun controls more acceptable. Acceptance is the key. So teaching tiny children that guns are cool, their right, and those that try to stop them are somehow evil, has to be worked on too. But the next generations are going to be different. Except if you believe the "nothing will ever change" brigade, with their "far too deeply entrenched" tunnel vision.
You reduce the opportunity to unleash carnage.
e.g. Ban the sale of all military type weapons - automatic rifles, machine guns/pistols etc. There is no good reason for any weapons like that to be in public ownership.
Strictly control who can own guns (and why) by having gun licences that require police checks on their mental stability, character, criminal behaviour/record. No one can apply for a gun licence without appropriate character references (which are subject to scrutiny).
Do not permit anyone to own a rifle unless they provide proof that they have landowner permission to use it in a safe place. If that place is a gun club then the weapon minus the bolt or vital part of the firing mechanism must be securely kept there and not at home.
All purchases of additional weapons/magazines/ammunition must be recorded and vetted with the aim of detecting people who are clearly acquiring a lot of firepower, since that needs to be examined.
If people say that they like to own several types of gun then too bad - make do with one or none.
Of course, none of that is perfect and some dangerous people will alway slip through the net. Because there is no perfect solution is never a reason to do nothing. The aim is to substantially reduce the killing.
That took a few minutes to think up. Probably much more than that can be done
