I know I'm a pedant when it comes to bird ID but it would be interesting to hear Cobra's opinion on what this bird is.......

It is actually a very good photograph of a flying falcon so it shouldn't be too hard to identify it correctly!
 
I've recently been trying out High-res mode my OM1 with the 12 - 100 lens. I'm used to getting pin sharp images in single frame mode with barely any need for additional sharpening. But in Hi-res I'm finding it necessary to push the sharpening slider to about 70 or 80 to get a sharp result. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Are you using Pro Cap SH1 or SH2. SH 1 is does not focus continuously.

Wasp Spider from Norfolk today. (On my hols). Trying out editing on the holiday with my new (second hand) gaming laptop. Speed wise it is brilliant I can run lightroom denoise and topaz denoise nearly as quick as on my home pc. That's what I was hoping for really as my old laptop would take about 5 minutes to do Lightroom denoise!
I now need to go for a back massage to recover from getting this angle :LOL:

Am I the only one who thinks that OM Systems has been far too quiet over the last year. Minimal firmware updates for the OM-1, no new pro body (or even any official development announcements), and very little in the lens front. I thought they might have used the Panasonic G9 II announcement to announce something themselves and steal some limelight back, especially when it appears from initial testing reports that the G9 II leapfrogs the OM-1 in a number of areas (albeit it being a bigger body).

Don't get me wrong, the OM-1 is still a superb camera as it is, but I fear that if OM Systems treads water for too long and doesn't announce something or capture the imagination of new prospective buyers and soon, it won't be long for this world, especially with FF and APS-C bodies getting cheaper and smaller and lighter (yes I know that the M43 lenses are generally smaller and lighter). Just a bit worried they might be struggling and so I won't be investing any more money into the system until I know it's not about to fold ?

Personally I am getting a little tired, and cynical, of constant “upgrades”, mainly concerned with taking away the skill of photography and replacing it with so-called intelligent systems. If OM Systems does fold, my camera will still work. When it ceases to do so I will reconsider my options.

I don't for one minute think it will fold any time soon if ever , I have no doubts that somewhere a team is working on something and there may already be prototypes out in the field being tested under very strict non disclosure agreements . the 90mm macro apparently leaves other systems far in its wake and there are other lenses under development ..there PR team could do with a kick in the pants but who knows there criteria ... I do know that another company working with MFT parameters have announced a working global shutter system .so ??? ..
and the repair facility we have got leaves companies like Panasonic right out of the frame .. just hope there new camera doesn't have the teething issues of the OM1 .. and lets not forget that other companies are also having development issues i.e canon and Nikon with there M/L bodies or try taking a Sony out in the rain and see how long your a happy Chappy for . caveat emptor
 
Just came back from holiday where cameras were a constant companion and disappointed to find that my om1 would appear to be losing its paint on some of the ‘corners’. Appears to be brassing - like if that makes sense. Never had this with any of my canon cameras, anyone else experienced it?
 
That's the problem exactly Jeff, other companies like Canon, Nikon and Sony for example keep interest and excitement in the brand by teasing development notifications or "something big's coming soon" announcements, even if the actual launch is months away. With OM Systems, it's basically tumble weed. As you say, maybe there is a new body and some lenses in development but it's so tightly controlled that the wider world knows' nothing of it, and therefore it looks like OM Systems is sitting still or moving backwards (even if in reality it might not be). As you say the marketing bods need a good kicking.
 
Think JIP partners the owners of OM systems have been busy elswhere with their money but agree with all the previous comments the marketing is poor compared to other brands all they have done is launched the new TG7 which in essence is a re hash of the TG6

Now that the supply of the 150-400 has been resolved it would appear all we have to look forward to is a new lens but no news of a potential new camera

As others have alluded to other brands are good at the product tease something OM systems are failing on at the moment

Other brands continue to close the gap on OM1 in terms of the features the OM1 has its a tough market selling cameras compared to 10 years each new camera launch needs USP and performance improvements to compete in the market
